Disney is planning a new trilogy starting with ARES. My guess, and prayers, are that Garrett & Olivia will cameo in ARES and then have big roles in future movies
I wasn't a fan of Tron Legacy when I first saw it, but it has become one of main comfort movies of choice now haha... In 3D on a VR headset it is just so much fun to watch and I really appreciate how all the elements came together. Really, really hoping Ares can carry the torch.

The first TRON soundtrack was so iconic. Wendy Carlos and her music were such ground breakers, and led to such awesome soundtracks like Christopher (Tangerine Dream) Franke's Babylon 5 soundtrack. The TRON: Legacy soundtrack by Daft Punk. continued that tradition, and one hopes that Trent Reznor/NIN will do as good a job of continuing that...legacy...with the new soundtrack.
If it's not about Sam and Kora, I'm not interested. I got invested in the characters, not the super wow special effects. And liked the story line and where it was headed.
If it’s not already been filmed, Sam and Quorra should show up on their bikes assessing the damage done by Ares in the city. It could be a mid credits scene or an end scene for the new film. This would tie the two movies together nicely and set up a fourth film, if box office results are good enough.
With all that time apart among the 3 movies and I couldn’t be prouder to say that I watched the first 2 in theatres, and I might watch also Ares in theatres too since I’m only 50; It’s an amazing franchise that I dearly love and enjoy, I just REALLY wish the vibe of the first one was still on the air, the 80’s were BEAUTIFUL!, happy people, lots of joy, genuine excitement; today’s world couldn’t be darker, A LOT of pessimistic people throwing all their venom on social media, any of them has ever produced ANYTHING at all, at any level whatsoever and yet they have the worst opinion of something we haven’t even seen a trailer, but has the word “TRON!” on it, what else do you need?, seriously?!, when can I buy my ticket?!; be more grateful people!, it’s everybody’s world!, there’s nothing wrong with some of us being pleased with our beloved franchises!, thank you Disney for another Tron movie, can’t wait for it!, very excited, God bless You… YES!!!!!, there IS a God, deal with it MFs!!!!!
I am very very stoked for the idea of Sam and Quorra returning because I loved Legacy and I know a lot of other people who did. This new sequel is years later than it should have been, but the people putting the script that would be insane to just gloss over the last movie. Frankly Disney needs some real wins, and this could be a big one. I hope to God Garrett is doing more than just teasing and that we will see Sam & company back in Ares....FLYNN LIVES.

When Legacy came out in theaters, the response was lukewarm. But I’m glad that it receives the continued admiration of Garrett Hedlund and the ardent fans. I just hope Disney takes great care with this intellectual property and doesn’t make it cheap and chintzy like Star Wars.
I don't think modern Disney can make this movie to the level that it's needs to be made. The fact that we don't see the same characters from the previous movie says that the studio doesn't have much faith in the IP. If they did, they'd pay those actors whatever they were asking to reprise their roles.
MASSIVE Tron fan here, but it's pretty clear that the Asian actress (Greta Lee) is the star of Tron Ares and the white males (Evan Peters & Jared Leto) are the evil villains (of course!), continuing the modern Disney trend of turning EVERY boy-brand into a failed girl-brand. Greta Lee said in an interview that her character in Tron Ares is a "brilliant programmer". Of course she is. Another Disney girl-boss who goes through no hardships or obstacles and just wins. Star Wars, Marvel and even Indiana Jones were eventually turned into girl-brands by Disney. Disney was even developing a Rocketeer movie with a black female lead at one point. Disney is content with taking 100-200 million losses on almost every movie they make now.
Absolutely love Legacy, and it still holds up after all these years, even liked the animated show that was based on it, and it wasn't half bad. Disney has been pretty meh to very bad with the IPs they own lately. Hopefully having Jared Leto on board won't kill the franchise for another 10 years until someone else picks it up. I feel like Leto has got some bad luck attached to him or something. Slightly off topic! Do any of you know the release schedule for Dune Prophecy? About to hop back on the trial train for Max to binge The Penguin and seeing if I can catch Dune in there as well.
I saw the teaser for this, and it looks pretty awesome, dare I say better than Tron Legacy, which I had mixed feeling about. Tron Legacy felt a bit half-baked to me, meaning the script wasn't there, but it was a stunning looking movie, and the de-aging of Jeff Bridges was... Yikes!
I didn't get the impression that he's in the next film. Sounds more like he Wants to come back, and is Hoping this film does Well enough to so Can. But however like us: We can Only Hope.

I really hope Garrett returns, Tron Legacy is one of my favorite films and I thought he was great in it. I'm not sure about Olivia though, I get the impression the woke bug bit her over the past few years. I'm hopeful like you Elaine, but this is Disney we're talking about.
Knowing that Steven Lisberger is heavily involved makes me worry less about the film. I hope we see Sam again. It would also be a stupid move to not have Tron himself in his own movie. My main concern is this franchise being infected with today's nonsense. With Disney's current track record I'm keeping my expectations low.
so i may or may not have seen a screener for tron ares. unfortunately it seems like the entire plotline of legacy is essentially washed away. no mention of ISO's no tron, no sam. The actual acting in ares from the main cast is pretty fantastic though all things considering. also it is essentially confirmed that the "grids" are like digital visualizations of computer servers.
You know, perhaps it was good that Disney did neglect the Tron franchise, after the disasters and destruction of so many great franchises, that this one being Tron franchise has survived the nonsense that has become of Disney and its destruction of good franchises.... i.e. Starwars, Indiana Jones, shall i go on?
Not a fan of Leto. Personally, I think he gets to much credit for a few outstanding firecracker roles. Mostly he just sputters and fizzles when he takes on these kind of roles. I'll also add, the idea of the grid crossing over into the real world...not fan. It was the look of the grid that made these movie so unique. Now it has to share screen time. Saves on the FX budget tho. Heck, we'll probably find out the real world is just an upgraded version of the grid, and the grid was just a practice canvas for it.
Where is Sam Flynn? I hope NOWHERE! Ugh... Hedlund has the onscreen charisma of a shriveled potato. As far as the project in general, I'm not worried at all. As soon as I heard Leto was pushing it and starring, my mind is at ease. Wasn't a big Leto fan for a long time until Blade Runner 2049, but boy... he won me over with that one. With him as Ares and if Disney execs stay the fuck away from the shoot, I don't think it can fail.
