I was looking at the 2.5m altitude on the Litchi app at the start and wondering what would happen if somebody like me with a 3.2m camper came zooming around the corner. Gavin did explain later that it was a closed, private road.

I rebuilt and sold with my father over 150 WWII Folmer Graflex 4x5 inch aerial camera's with brand new different Schneider lenses. Reached easily 120 million pixels. I got a DJI Mini 2 recently. Quite a challenge because I see with only one eye. Making photos from the air was always easy, but flying with a drone with not seeing any depth is quite different. I recently found your channel and I am very happy with the serious good content you present. Thanks for this and good luck with the things to come. Wim

Great video sir, in Litchi follow mode, use GPS to track the remote controller, it's might be better for tracking a faster objects ( car), fly drone to position you want it to be， press the "set from aircraft position" in setting menus, then drive on, looking forward to see your another review about Litchi app

To be honest man I've not tried rainbow yet - I had litchi from the Mavic mini so I've concentrated on that - not to mention my actual workload hasn't enabled me to actually do as much with it or dronelink but I hope to soon! Yeah I was brave tracking a car but all good fun eh

Thanks Richard, I'm hoping for a follow up tomorrow with coverdrone, DJI just point to the terms of conditions relating to 3rd party app usage - the thing is it's not particularly about the app usage it's the fact in the event of a claim DJI themselves require their flight logs which of course are not available. Litchi offer support for airdata UAV so if DJI accepted them then there would be no problem

I dont know how work on fly app, but this is not usable video with tracking, because drone make hard and chopped movements. 😕 That issue is from this app or it is same on fly app ( from drones who support active tracking 3.0) ?
I’m actually quite impressed with this. I’ve just picked up a mini 2 and I’m thinking of getting Litchi for the active track of my car for some nice content. Can you select the starting height for example, thinking if there are trees in the way can you get the drone to fly above and still track? Also how did you do the audio while making this video? Sounds like voice over but I can hear a little wind?
Been waiting for this feature. New to droning, had the Mini 2 for only a couple months. Was a little disappointed that tracking and GPS mission settings weren't a thing for Mini 2, and thanks to you, I've learned about Litchi, which allows for a whole new world to open up for me (even though I'm still a noobie). One question though. While tracking, the drone came really close to tree branches. (6:54) It then moved safely out of the way and continued tracking. Was that the Litchi app making those changes or was that you manually flying the Mini 2 out of the way? I didn't think the Mini 2 had the tech to do that, so was curious what was going on.
yes I noticed that too and was wondering the same, also new to drones, got a few vids here on RUclips and this will make my walking with trying to control the drone to follow me so much easier lol I always look awkward walking in my vids :P
Hi Jeremy, actually, that was quite odd, I didn't control the drone AT ALL at that point it actually seemed to deviate and avoid them - luck / chance? I don't know but the drone received no input from myself so that's positive!
Litchi. And I'm new to the drone community. This is exactly what I wish my Mini 2 came with, along with a waypoint feature. I look forward to expanding the mini's capabilities.
Litchi Whilst it is in follow mode do you still have manual control with the sticks? (E.g. to manually raise the height whilst the follow continues). Either way - I'm totally sold on this....
It's all looking great for the new features, and like you say, it can only get better! It'll be interesting to see how insurance policies or warranties will adapt (or not) to third party apps, but I guess that a disk that's up to the user. Looks like it might be worth that risk though Litchi

Personally I do think the features would come in useful at times, but I'm not desperate for them. More like I'd use them because I can, rather than because I have to, haha
Don't use Litchi app third-party app your warranty is done even if you paid the care fresh so be careful......so many people lose the drone using the tracking mode
Trying to figure out how to get the litchi app. My play store is in Korea but I'm currently in china. Might have a friend buy me a play card at the store. Looks like this app is a winner.
Beta version definitely shows promise. I will be eagerly waiting for DJI to release the Apple SDK and for Lichi to produce something. Shame on DJI for not pursuing this themselves.

I'd like to see a "rigidity" option, where you could set a slider to tell the drone how aggressively it should track you - other than that, the app is amazing.
Because they need to sell up the model range basically, it's easy to forget that whist the mini 2 is still a fair bit of money for a drone it is DJI's entry level kit, the more expensive models have more toys so you need to upgrade
I'm still trying to find out how to get the SDK for my mini 2. Does is come in a firmware update? I am in the USA, maybe we do not have it yet here. Help will be appreciated.

Yes just follow the instructions, you need to uninstall the main version then click the link on the site and it will give you the option to download the beta

I tried follow mode, no problem that is working followed my receiver. But Track is not work at all for me. Is the mistake of me that I have to start recording first and then start with the track mode??
Any idea if there are any plans or tools available for the Mini 2 to facilitate the RECORDING of an actual "flight path" to be able to replay that same (obstacle free) flight-path afterwards (e.g. after auto-translating that recorded flight path into key waypoints) ? This way, one could safely discover/tryout a flight-path at low speed and replay the recorded trip at a slightly higher speed.... Would be a great feature....

What about trees and lampposts? I get paranoid flying near them, Especially when there's a lot of trees near the side of the road, Will it just crash into them?
Litchi Perfect... i just got my mini 2 days ago and im totally impressed with it since I was debating on getting a skydio 2. The size of it is amazing with a 4k camera. This litchi app will make this even more better with the tracking. Amazing review 👌

been flying dji for some time wasnt sure what the Flight Mode Button is. Soun ds stupid but would suggest you point to it. incidentally its taken some time to realise that the SDK is built into the latest app I have a phone and a tablet down loaded Litch to phone paid for it and installed it ? but when i loaded it onto tablet it just Allowed install ITS GREAT

I'm from gods country Yorkshire which is pretty hilly and have used follow me mode on my hubsan in the past but to not much success so was wondering on active track on the this new software does the altitude keep the same as follow me mode or does it follow the landscape?

Thanks Gavin. Looking like it's going to be a seriously cool feature. Litchi have been hard at work obviously. You didn't mention the RTH options during tracking. Does it hover in place in the event of loss of signal / track suspension?
Hi Cliff yes it was a hard video to put together, you can switch on dynamic RTH so basically the controller becomes the home point so it stays with the controller and hovers as you said 👌
It looks like the software is getting over the lack of proximity sensors in the Mini 2 by simply putting a limit on how many objects it "sees". Are you able to make adjustments to the drone without ending the follow me function, like raising or lowering it, or jogging it slightly to the left or right?

No, unless you pause it then it is autonomous

No, you set the height and that's it it does it's thing so you need to be aware of surroundings and fly diligently 🙂

You don't need to do anything Jon, DJI released the SDK to developers such as litchi, all you need to do is download the app

well it will be to the max speed of the drone in its particular mode, and yes of course if I had of left the controller it would of followeed still

Yes, it's great that Litchi have decided to look after android users first as we nearly always come second to the iPhone lot.

@@jag131990 True, I was just excited about not being a second class citizen for once but now I'm hearing reports that there are problems with the Litchi & the Galaxy S21 and guess what phone I've got 😣. However, I'm not going to buy it yet until Gavin has fully tested it as I'm worried that I'll wreck my drone.

Perfect... i just got my mini 2 days ago and im totally impressed with it since I was debating on getting a skydio 2. The size of it is amazing with a 4k camera. This litchi app will make this even more better with the tracking. Amazing review 👌

been flying dji for some time wasnt sure what the Flight Mode Button is. Soun ds stupid but would suggest you point to it.

All depends on DJI I'm afraid as they have not released the SDK for iOS yet sadly

Hi there some advise needed please. I'm from gods country Yorkshire which is pretty hilly and have used follow me mode on my hubsan in the past but to not much success so was wondering on active track on the this new software does the altitude keep the same as follow me mode or does it follow the landscape?
Hi Mick, I'm also Yorkshire, sadly this can not compensate for height so just take that into consideration that you may need to fly a little higher :)

Thanks Gavin. Looking like it's going to be a seriously cool feature. Litchi have been hard at work obviously. You didn't mention the RTH options during tracking. Does it hover in place in the event of loss of signal / track suspension?
Hi Cliff yes it was a hard video to put together, you can switch on dynamic RTH so basically the controller becomes the home point so it stays with the controller and hovers as you said 👌
It looks like the software is getting over the lack of proximity sensors in the Mini 2 by simply putting a limit on how many objects it "sees". Are you able to make adjustments to the drone without ending the follow me function, like raising or lowering it, or jogging it slightly to the left or right?
Hi Carey, yes I was surprised actually, but to answer your question no you have to stop the tracking to make manual adjustment
