    Sárospatak is a town in Borsod-Abaúj-Zemplén county, northern Hungary. It lies 70 kilometres northeast from Miskolc, in the Bodrog river valley. The town often called simply Patak, is an important cultural centre, a charming historical town and a popular tourist destination.
    The Sárospatak Castle, also known as Rákóczi Castle, is the most valuable work of late Renaissance architecture in Hungary, and the most significant monument of Sárospatak. It is part of the Hungarian national heritage. The Rákóczi Museum of the Hungarian National Museum operates in the castle.
    On the back of the Hungarian HUF 500 paper money is the castle of Sárospatak, which was part of the huge Rákóczi estate. (On the obverse of the money is a portrait of Ádám Mányoki : Ferenc Rákóczi II
