Blake is a music producer and singer-songwriter that hosts a live podcast geared to helping musicians and producers navigate their music career in a really grounded way. Blake started his career at the age of 15, writing and performing music in bands, and was offered his first publishing contract at the age of 17 years old.
While playing around the state of Texas as a singer-songwriter, Blake ventured into producing albums for local bands in his hometown of Houston, Texas. He quickly established a reputation of becoming the 'go-to' producer for his signature vintage-retro sound. He began mentoring the artists and bands that he worked with, helping align their careers with their goals. As the internet began shaping the music landscape with streaming, Blake then shifted his career into digital marketing strategies and online artist development.
In 2017 he was then hired to run the Music Career Development department of the Los Angeles Film School. After separating with the college in 2022 due creative differences, Blake moved to Gruene, Texas and started his own podcast and music development system aimed to mentor young musicians. He also wrote a book encompassing his entire music system's strategy guide. You can grab a free digital copy of his book here: bit.ly/freemusicbook

But for the BTS Room Live Festa 2021, they have a lot of interactions in-between the songs that are not translated on their official video. Bantang Subs is a respected channel for providing English subtitles for all things BTS. Big Hit only started included English subtitles in the last few years, and they often don't include subtitles for some interactions that are happening in the back ground or on the side. So here is the Bangtan Sub link for that Room Live that will include the subs for their conversations as well: ruclips.net/video/-J-IM2hLBUc/видео.html

Saying that, I never really had a particular favorite. I like most music, except jazz and opera. There's something about BTS that really grabbed my attention, and I started listening to more of their music. Almost 7 years later I have no regrets. They are by far worth getting into. I'm a 52 year old black woman with Sickle Cell Disease who grew up in Detroit during the birth of Hip Hop. I've was told I had strange music taste as a teenager because I would have Michael Jackson, Motley Crue, Run DMC & New Edition on the same cassette. I loved Aerosmith, the Beatles and Luther Vandross. I listen to all genres. Out of all the artist that I've enjoyed over the years, Three artists have had a profound effect on my life. Tupac was the soundtrack of my early - mid 20s, he got me through early motherhood & college. Linkin Park got me through my fiancee deciding he wasn't ready to settle down when the doctors told me I could no longer work 60-70 hours a week and raise 3 kids at the same time. BTS literally pulled me out of the darkness, off the edge. They made me realize that although my disease is a part of me, it doesn't define me. BTS taught me how to love myself. They've been my faithful companions during many painful crisis and long & frequent hospital stays. BTS music is a balm for my soul, better than any of the numerous medications the doctors have me on. I'm telling you all of this because many A.R.M.Y have had a similar experience with BTS. This is why we're so devoted, passionate and protective when it comes to these 7 men. A.R.M.Y is a community, a family of sorts. At times we can be overwhelming and just like with any family there's always the loud crazy ones. During your discovery of BTS music don't let the crazy ones get to you for the most part we're a fun loving group of people. Thank You for your open-minded and honest reaction.

The main producer *among the members* is Suga. No, they don't do it *all* alone, specially not producing, they have their in-house producers that are usually the ones that produce most of their songs, like Pdogg. They all have produced for BTS before, yes, but not at all for all the songs. Suga though, has made a lot of songs not only for BTS, but for himself and other artists. HOWEVER, the 3 rappers: RM, Suga and J-hope do compose and write 98% of their songs (the singers write and compose as well, just not as often as them). They have other writers/composers as well, but they are chosen randomly, and usually just to add the English parts. All three of them have more than 100 song credits, RM pretty close to 200, they are the ones that come up with whatever they are going to write about in songs as well. BTS is taking a break in making songs as a group majorly because they are going through a burnout phase and don't know what to write about, if they had ghost writers, for example, this wouldn't be a problem.
(Some people get confused with the differences between writing, composing and producing, and also in how to read credits so that's why you probably got a lot of comments saying they produce it all, because they have writing/composing credits in almost every song).
    BTS songs produced by Suga:
    • Path
    • Tomorrow
    • Jump
    • Let Me Know
    • Boyz With Fun
    • Autumn Leaves
    • Intro: The Most Beautiful Moment in Life
    • First Love

@@BlakeMakesMusic They don't have that exactly, but they have a lot of random clips of videos where they can be seen writing/composing, from their old RUclips vlogs to their documentary movies. They also do lives sometimes and just work on stuff or talk about anything, sometimes the creative process. RM, the main writer, also always does a post album release live where he talks about each song individually and how it was created. They usually use a yellow notebook to write. Jungkook, one of the singers, also did a live where he started composing a song for the fans (I don't remember if it was by the end of last year or the beginning of this one), it lasted 1-2 hours, and the song was finally fully released last week!, it's called "My You", you can search it up. They have a lot of content where they can be seen creating, actually, now that I stopped to think about it, it's just scattered around 😅😅😅 I just think no one has ever made a compilation cause it's so well known.

    • @marirezende8478
      @marirezende8478 2 года назад +163

@@BlakeMakesMusic Oh! I just remembered, they said that for the process of writing/composing, each member will come up with their own lyrics/melodies as well as other people, and then they'll sort out which one they think it's best for the song, so everyone writes separately about a same topic they decided it's going to be about, and then they decide which is the best. For western compositors/writers they call, they usually get to keep some of the English parts, but if they do want to use more of the song, RM is generally the one that adapts the English lyrics to Korean (since he's fluent in English), but this is for singing parts, the raps are *always* written entirely by the rappers.

Boy, don't we know it about independent musicians having disdain for people in the music industry. RM and Suga both came from underground rap and they got so much hate for it. We have to thank the underground rappers who publicly insulted BTS though because BTS' response to them was some of the most hilariously brutal insults in lyric form I have ever read.
For BTS, some of their title tracks do follow a more traditional kpop structure (kpop has a different structure to Western pop). Personally, BTS' b-sides hold most of my favourite songs due to being more experimental, and what they do as solo artists, especially the 3 rappers is really cool. They also release songs for free on soundcloud and those songs are often a lot of fun, Ddaeng especially.
BTS do work with in-house producers (mostly P-Dogg, Adora and Slow Rabbit) and occasionally outsource producers. The three guys who do the most producing within the group are the rappers, RM, Suga and J-Hope. Suga also produces for other artists. The full credits are on the album, in the order of how much a person contributed. BTS contribute the most to soundcloud and solo music.
As for us having ones who are favourites, yes we often do, but it is different for everyone and for different reasons. My favourites are RM and Suga because of their lyrics. They often write about mental health in a very real and relatable way, being honest even when the truth is ugly and being so vulnerable sometimes it doesn't feel right to read the lyric translation. Some of their music is desperate and angry, other times is is scathing and sarcastic, and other times it is deeply empathetic and hopeful. But there isn't a single member I don't love, I just relate to RM and Suga the most.
Be aware that the colour coded lyric translations can be really poor quality. Those video creators basically have a race to put up the videos first, and the quality of the translation is sacrificed. BTS also use so much slang, cultural references and wordplay that most of their Korean language songs don't translate cleanly into English. On youtube, DKDKTV has some explanations of BTS song lyrics such as Dis-ease, Baepsae and Ddaeng. Lyric videos by the channels DIAL 6137 and Face Yourself are typically good quality but don't have colour coded lyrics so you know who is singing. Otherwise the blogs Muish Ramblings and Doolset Bangtan do good written translations with Muish Ramblings including very detailed translation notes. If you are a lyric person, I recommend checking out those places for good quality translations.
Some songs I think you would like
    Dis-ease
    Baepsae/Silver Spoon
    My City
    Ddaeng - rappers only.

@@BlakeMakesMusic Yeah, it can be pretty wild at times. Ddaeng is a slang word in Korean that has 7 different meanings and uses depending on the context. The BTS rappers just play with that word in the song Ddaeng so it is genius wordplay but it just doesn't translate into English. The music itself is really cool, a trap beat with Korean instruments.

I found BTS on accident in March. I saw reels of them on Instagram and looked them up on RUclips because I thought they were funny. The first video I watched was Carpool Karaoke. I loved them singing. The next videos I looked up were their appearances on SNL. I couldn’t take my eyes off J-Hope dancing so I looked for more. I watched them cover Fix You and their voices were so beautiful. I just kept looking up more videos and the next thing I knew, I was buying a last minute ticket to see them in Las Vegas in April. I’m so glad I went. They are incredible live. I’m 54. My favorite band is Queens of the Stone Age. I grew up on rock and metal. I do like all types of music. I lost my husband in 2019 and BTS gave me back my desire to sing and dance around the house again. Something I haven’t really felt since he passed away. I thought BTS was just a teeny bopper group, I was wrong. They are beautiful to look at, but they are so much more than that. They are beautiful human beings. My favorite song is probably still Mic Drop, because that’s what I discovered first, but I think you should listen to Fire. Dope, Danger, On and maybe Not Today. Dionysus is great live, but I don’t know which performance to chose.

Not so, added Suga, who repeatedly compares the company’s songwriting process to a "year-round song camp" where members submit their song ideas to Bang and input is provided on an ongoing basis. According to Suga, Big Hit's production team is relatively flat in structure, with producers and BTS members working alongside each other and acting as "equal partners" in the process of creating music.
"If there was a barrier between our production team and us, we wouldn't be able to make the kind of music that we can," he said.
As for how the group divides the work, rapper J-Hope said that all seven members "try hard to do our roles, whether it's writing lyrics or writing songs." He added: "Our participation in the process makes the music more sincere."
    End of quote
The rappers do most of the writing. Also a lot of help producing. However over the past few years the other members have started to become more active.
BTS are always involved with everything they put out.
Edit: Also BTS are very honest people. They try and always give credit where credit is due.

I am 58 and I've been ARMY since 2016. I grew up listening to rock n roll. My first concert was Alice Cooper then Heart back in the 70s. I've seen BTS 5 times and hope to see them many more. You'll be surprised to find most Army love all of them equally. Most have a 'bias' which is our term for favorite. My bias changes daily. I love them all. And they do have other writers and producers on staff and collab with others, but BTS probably do the most of it, and Suga produces for other artists as well, including Psy's recent song, That, That.
I agree BTS Festa 2021 would be a great next step.
They really are special and it can't really be explained until you dive in. Have fun.

If you really want to know what BTS is capable of, look at MAMA 2019, it's a show no one will forget. This is just the beginning of what these boys do. Their discography is for all ages, the rap line (3 rappers) is wonderful, as is the vocal line (4 singers). This mix of vocal line and rap makes you never stop listening to them and interpreting the songs, because the lyrics are for intellectuals. You're just getting to know BTS.

Just want to make sure you know that BTS go above and beyond to credit anyone they work with from writing to production to dancers. They never try to overhype their involvement in any project. They’re actually really humble. And are super appreciative of other creators and artists. When J Hope covered the song Chicken Noodle Soup with Becky G, he paid the original artist over $2 million, talked extensively about why he appreciated it and wanted to cover it, and put every dancer’s name in the video credits and gave them all a highlight at the end while the credits played.
As for other contemporary artists I enjoy, I love The Black Keys, Arctic Monkeys, Haim, Harry Styles, J Cole, Kendrick, Snow Patrol, yeah yeah yeahs, Tame Impala, Japanese Breakfast, Petite Meller, Wet, and Vannda 💜

I’m quite old and have only really stanned 4 artists in my life - Jackson 5 (when I was a kid), Tom Waits, Tool, and now BTS. I tend to like individual pieces from lots of different artists. My music tastes are all over the place - grunge, punk, metal, indie, R&B, soul, classical, gospel, Irish and Scottish trad - well pretty much every style except country (can’t stand the twang and the culture) and rap (hated the culture and found most of the pieces boring until BTS rap) and the stuff you called teen pop. I enjoyed your reaction, love it when reactors take the time to dig into the nuances of music. BTS is possibly the only group where I have loved 95% of the music. Even Tool, who is 2nd on my list after BTS, has more songs that are just ok than ones I love. I love this song, my fav of the new ones I think. It’s great to move to. There are so so many songs I could recommend for BTS. My fav rap line ones - Cyphers 2-4 (but you should probably do them all in order so you can see how they grew both musically and lyrically), Outro:Tear, Ugh!, Ddaeng (for those last you, you’ll want to watch the DKDKTV explanation videos or you’ll miss a lot of the freaking amazing word play). My fav vocal line ones - House of Cards (OMG this song, and the live is one of the most beautifully passionate live performances I’ve seen), your eyes tell (jointly written by the youngest from BTS), the truth untold, dimple (watch the live perf of it with pied piper - a lyrical masterpiece as well). Massively popular ones such as Idol (the MV is a trip and is a masterpiece reaction to their haters), Fake Love (again, a lyrical masterpiece), blood sweat & tears (another lyrical masterpiece). My fav full group songs - Rain, Tomorrow, Paradise, Ma City, Louder than Bombs, Airplane pt 2, Butterfly, I Need U, Black Swan (OMG this one. Lyrics, music, production, MV, all stunning), Just One Day (closest to what the West would call a boy band song, but the way it should be done and written by Suga when he was in the hospital after appendicitis surgery), Jump, Spine Breaker, Am I Wrong, Run, Fire, Dope, Mic Drop, Spring Day, Save Me, 2! 3!, geez, I should stop but there are so many great ones. Then there’s all the solo content - I love Agust D’s (aka SUGA) two mixtapes, particularly 724148 for the beat, Moonlight, People (the lyrics on this one!), Strange, 28, Dear My Friend, The Last, Give it to me, then there is all of RM’s mixtapes (forever rain is amazing) and others such as Joke and his collabs (check out Change with Wale), and SUGA’s Trivia: SeeSaw, First Love; then Jimin’s Lie, Filter, Serendipity, and V’s Singularity and Stigma, and RM’s Intro: Persona - can’t forget that, ok I’ll stop now. BTS are artists, each in their own right, but also together as a group they are magical. Their support team and mixers, etc. are top tier, even their camera work is amazing. To top it off, I believe they are the up at the top of most sincere, humble and hardworking artists I’ve seen. Everything I’ve seen (and they film so much of their lives and work) shows that they love their fans truly (the only other artist I’ve seen be this way is Taylor Swift) and they embody artists who try hard to be good people, doing more for the world than they take from it, who love each other in a way that makes all of us a bit envious, and who remain appreciative of all the people who work with them and for them. It’s hard to beat great music, great lyrics, great production, talented artists who work very hard to improve their art, who are humble, funny, caring, etc. Sorry, this was a bit long, but BTS has taught a jaded massive cynic (me) a thing or two about loving oneself, being kind to others in spite of so much hatred and anger in the world, and dare I say brought out enough enthusiasm that I’m willing to comment on YT.

My story is similar. I never thought I would like a band more than I like Tool, my number one band for 22 years. One day only last year, unexpectedly, I got caught in BTS artistry and superior lyricism. I was in shock! "Am I tripping? What are these lyrics? Why are they not preaching like most rock music do? Why have they dissected themselves and showed us all this visceral thoughts and feelings, that are very uncomfortable to listen to? All these contrasting themes they have going on, sometimes even in the same song" Their lyrics give us the chance to think for ourselves about the situation presented. One day I came to the realization, I like BTS more than Tool. Because like you just said, the quality and quantity of good songs outnumbered Tool's songs. All the songs you mentioned are my favorites too, so I can see and understand your personal taste from that list. In just few months BTS took the place Tool had for 22 years as my number one favorite band. I am still processing it.
Other bands/artists I currently listen to are Opeth, Cult of Luna (basically all of Swedish death, prog and experimental metal). Eivor, AURORA, Fever Ray, Soap & Skin (many other female artists like these) IDLES, Crippled Black Phoenix, Neurosis, Isis, Gojira... Converge, Earthless... actually, I am listening to a lot... but yes... BTS discography is magnificent. My bias is SUGA, the genius producer, but love and respect them all equally. Looking forward to all 7 solo albums.

Hello! As a rock listener, I totally understand where you are coming. Also, I tought at first mostly same as you. But after discovering BTS' dicography I can say, there is so many songs that also rock listeners can enjoy.
I'm putting a list in here as my safe home and also will try to write their genres.
Dionysus (EDM-Pop Rock and Hip Hop)
    Not Today (EDM)
    Mic Drop (EDM-Hip Hop)
ON (I really don't know its genre but it's worth to listen. Official MV may be will make you confused so I suggest Kinetic Manifesto Film version of it)
    Am I Wrong (Urban)
    So What (EDM)
    Best of Me (EDM)
    Danger (Rock-Hip Hop)
Fake Love (there is two version of it. One of them is rocking vibe but I love first version too)
    Dope (EDM?)
Black Swan (Trap-Hip Hop-A little bit classical)
They were mostly hip hop in their debute and they followed hip hop genre in their second and a little bit third comeback. So, I think you can enjoy their old songs.
But also they sometimes divided into "vocal line" and "rap line" and sometimes make subunits between themselves. I also will put this divisions:
    Rap Line:
    UGH
    Ddaeng
And if you are enjoying to listen rap i can suggest Cypher series (there is 4 cypher)
    Vocal Line:
    House of Cards (Jazzy)
The Truth Untold (I don't know the real genre of this song to, it's just awsome)
I think this will do 😂

I think as a producer, you'll really enjoy and be amazed at their work. The level of production in their music is absolutely insane. And, as we've said, they can really do any genre. Keep going. I guarantee they will bring you good energy and some happiness that you might have missed if you never heard them!!! They do not do ALL of their own production...they have producers who work with them on songs. HOWEVER - there are many songs where the members of BTS are the only producers. The members of BTS do lyrics, compose, produce, and even choreograph some. RM and SUGA in particular have been writing, composing, and producing since they were young teens. As you find out more about them as a group and as individuals, you'll see that they are very good about giving credit where credit is due....they are pretty obsessively honest about what they actually do or don't do (and about anything else, really). Not only are they not a typical boy band, they are not a typical kpop band.

In this song, RM, SUGA, JHope & JUNGKOOK are the songwriters alongside their producer (they didn't produce this one) but they DID really write the lyrics bcz these are the real stories & incidents being mentioned through lyrics &, RM & SUGA have been on Top 10 of Billboard Hot100 for songwriters chart multiple times & even together... they are among the best & most credited songwriters of Korea... & their clips of working in studio are available... multiple such clips actually...

One of the most common comments from new BTS reactors is "I wasn't expecting this", shortly followed by "I want to know their names".
When BTS started they were from a small, almost bankrupt, company. The kpop industry then was the Big three: JYP entertainment, YG entertainment, SM entertainment. The big 3 did everything they could to stifle BTS.
All members are involved in their own production to a greater or lesser extent. They work alongside their in-house producers who have been with them since the beginning so they're part of the BigHit 'family'. Other ARMYs can explain this better. The fastest rapper on this track is a worldwide respected producer using the name 'By Suga'. You said you listened to Psy, Suga produced his song "That That". There are several things produced exclusively by Suga (real name Min Yoongi). (I liked your video about what a producer does.)
Other artists I like range from 'Crowded House' to Laurie Anderson, but I'm not a typical ARMY if there is such a thing. If you like a variety of music, listen to BTS they never get boring.
To learn their influences listen to "Hip Hop Phile/Lover" from 2014. You'll need to watch colour coded lyrics (they're fan made so not all are good, other ARMYs can recommend the best one).
Do your reaction videos however ever you want and ignore any comments from people who want you to do it their way.
Thank you for listening to BTS and being so respectful and making intelligent comments.

i want to clarify a few things because some people will exaggerate or undermine some things bts do and its important to keep it transparent and give credit where it is due. BTS write their songs themselves, but in most tracks they do also have in-house producers (pdogg, hiss noise, supreme boi etc.) and sometimes also other producers they collaborate with depending on the feeling in the song. but that only in the sense that they will have 95% of the song ready and have someone adjust everything and perfect every level and transition etc, since it's their main job as producers and bts have 10 other things on their plate as performers and lyricists, basically do the fine tuning. the rappers especially write the most, but they all have credits on almost every song in different chunks. officially their credits look a lot less than what is the final product sometimes because of their behind the scenes work that goes into it. its important to add here that bts give equal credit to every little addition on the song, so all credits are listed in alphabetical order regardless of how many seconds a lyric was etc. on streaming platforms.
they explained their process multiple times on interviews and livestreams (namjoon/RM does these album deep dive streams where he shows us how they wrote a song and maybe some demos as well), how they will start off with the track first. someone will make a track (which from what we've seen sounds almost exactly like the final product only with some instruments added), sometimes these already have lyrics in some parts (like all of namjoons demos) then they will all work on the melody and final lyrics separately and then come together to stich together their favorite parts. one thing is that every member has to like the outcome for it to be accepted. they only go forward if everyone is satisfied. in their 3rd cd in proof they have all these demos with some other versions of the other members' ideas which showcase wonderfully what parts they picked and how their selection process works. the rappers all write their verses individually around the theme they agreed on for the song, and one of them or one of the vocalists will complete the lyrics for the song. then jungkook will sing the guide for the entire group and they will all record it. jungkook also sings the guides for some of the other members' solo albums, he is basically the one that nails down the main feeling and pitch. usually they add about 20-30 layers of vocals with all the members adding their touch and adlibs to it and the producer then adds all these new parts to the original track. there are a few dozen songs bts have produced completely themselves too though, if a song has a special meaning or they have a vision for it that cant be communicated they will do it themselves (like magic shop, for example, is one jungkook produced because he really wanted to perfect it himself for armys). be is an album the members did every aspect of the music for. in the older songs they would write things solely on their own but over time they started to get more and more outside producers into it to take the load off of the members and help them achieve more in a smaller timeframe (bts used to release 1 ep and one album every year). namjoon has recently said that they want to go back to their older albums' writing dynamic and do it all themselves again, just like he did when he was a young rapper. yoongi and namjoon have been making music since they were 12 and are great producers who have produced for other artists as well. hope i didnt nerd out too much but i find their music making process really really cool.

No, this song Run BTS is produced by "Dem Jointz for U made us what we are LLC & GHSTLOOP" as written right on the tracklist. So Dem Jointz is a producer who's done a few kpop songs, idk who or which songs U made us what we are LLC have done, but GHSTLOOP is Bighit's in-house producer who works directly with and for SUGA many many times. All 7 of BTS are song-writers and composers especially for group songs, each of them produce some group songs and their own solo songs which could get picked and revised into group songs. When it's BTS albums, members of BTS always get several producers on board, together with the OG BTS's producer, the man who built the foundation for BTS's hiphop sound when they started out, Bighit's pdogg.
However, SUGA whom originally joined the team to be a producer, is also considered a main producer like pdogg. He does produce a lot. And like i said, each member produces but they dont necessarily produce for OT7 BTS songs, they are producing for themself, for a sub-unit song in BTS albums, or they gonna release individual mixtapes and solo projects as we're speaking at this point when BTS has announced their Chapter 2 of taking a break from ot7 songs but will be pushing their solos.
I saw you wanted a video of them involving in the production, you should listen to DDaeng, a gift, completely free song for ARMY only, only available on Soundcloud, an example of rapline producing.

  • @mae__
    @mae__ 2 года назад +11

Sorry here we go long comment.. that's the BTS effect, there are layers to this group😅
    1/ On production
So..No they did not produce this one! Their main producers are Pdogg, Slow Rabbit, Hitman bang(their boss, founder of their label Hybe/ Big Hit) and Suga (one of the members)... but here it's even another producer and I agree that the production is crazy😅 and 4 of the members were involved in the writing process alongside other songwriters for this one
But they are definitely hands-on in the writing and production, especially in their solo projects, which sets them quite apart from most other kpop groups!
They have no problem acknowledging their producers and are very talented producers themselves (Suga especially, then mainly the 2 other rappers RM and J-Hope)!
    Note:
Their songs really come to life live usually, if you react to Yet to Come live (with Anderson .Paak on the drums or at mcountdown music show) it's really a different feel from the music video!
2/ On your reactions, relationships w/ ARMY
Feel free to express your honest opinion! Majority of ARMY are grown-ups and understand if you say you don't like aspects of a song and based on this feedback they'll provide better recommedations😊 Being ARMY is about being respectful, spread love, positivity and block out stereotypes aimed unfairly at people especially underrepresented voices!
So as long as you remain respectful and honestly review and break down what you like and don't like ARMY shouldn't get on your neck😂
But I understand it can be intimidating we are an extremely well organized, protective fandom and currently the biggest one so it can be scary and with such numbers there are some "bad apples " but they do not represent the fandom
    3/On the eclectic BTS style
Last thing yes we can have a favorite member (that's what we call a bias) but to be ARMY is to love all 7 of them.. So if you hear the song going according to you all over the place they are definitely not trying to outshine each other in a toxic way, they are just 7 VERY DIFFERENT individuals but working as one!
They all have their role within the group Jungkook is the main vocalist, RM is the leader etc... every member brings their part to the table so they have a pretty healthy synergy in that sense. Just healthy competition that makes them want to rise higher together.
    Keep it up🤝🏾

They were the underdogs, from a really small label without money. RM e Suga write and compose most of the letters, but every member did a few songs also. Suga was hired to be a producer but them he joined the group. Nowadays their label is big and can hire good producers but they try to keep making the most.

I do agree that all of the members are really well incorporated into this song, more so than in yet to come (although I think that song is really good too!) but one thing that’s really cool about them is they do songs all together as a group but they also do songs that are just the rappers or just the singers or maybe one of the rappers and 2 of the singers etc. I think a few other songs I’d recommend checking out sometime would be “born singer” (which is actually kind of their own spin on j cole’s “born sinner”) and there’s a lyric video for that one too but there’s also a really great video of a live performance that they did back in 2015, and then “for youth” and “home” and “ma city” and “move” are some great ones as well. And for other music and artists, I really like a lot of different kinds of music, like I like The Weeknd and dua lipa and I also really love artists like walk the moon, twenty one pilots, and Paramore (I’ve especially been really loving their “after laughter” album lately)

Another BTS song I think you would appreciate is Dionysus and, being that you're a musician, First Love. (: (And maybe Lie. I have a special love of musician reactions to that one. They usually say similar things, but it always tickles me.)
Thank you again for having an open mind about these guys.

You asked about what other artists I listen to... I listen to mostly finnish metal, Amorphis, Korpiklaani, Children of bodom. Never been a stan of any band before. In 2019 was in a rough, abusive relationship and happened to stumble into Bts. Was curious of why they were so popular. And fell into the rabbit hole that none of my metal friends can understand, lol. But Bts Fake love lyrics woke me up and I got out from the bad relationship. Ive gotten so much support to my new life from their positive and humble attitude and their dedication to their fandom. Bts guys are nice guys who take pride of their fandom also being like that and trying to spread positive messages also. Well, ofc there is allways toxic people in every fandom and also being attacked from so many directions about being just a boyband, fans can be overly protective also. They have created a bond with their fans that Ive never in my 45 years seen 💜

    NEW BTS REACTOR GUIDE: WHAT-NOT-TO-DOs
    1. Don't listen to people who tell you not to talk, replay, or pause while you analyze. They know where to find the original content.
    2. If you are being respectful and constructive, don't apologize for your critical insight.
    3. Don't make assumptions, just keep an open mind.
    4. Don't believe everything you read.
    5. Don't get overwhelmed, and remember our voices aren't always angry - it's just that there are millions of us and we can't seem to stop saying the same things. Most of us are just eager to share and educate. If you get straight-up hate, please consider that it is a loud minority and the rest of us don't approve of that behavior.
    Best,

You're right Blake, BTS is not a normal boy band, they are artists and with a first class team, starting with their mentor, their father, the founder of BigHit, today the giant HYBE, his name is BANG SI HYUK, nickname " Hitman", because all the songs he made for other artists were successful. The small company was on the verge of bankruptcy, but when he met the leader RM he believed and bet everything on forming a group from him, and so Suga joined, Jin, Jungkook, J.Hope, V and Jimim.
Have you heard their recent songs, "Yet to Come" and "Run BTS", which is loaded with a 10 year history of their career, so I think you should watch and know their beginning, you will be surprised and see how they have overcome and grown over all these years, and in the ARMYs we are looking forward to their return in 2025, I am sure they will come with everything.

Love the purple shirt! 💜 Purple is actually BTS and ARMY's color. Maybe someone already told you? We say Borahae, which means 'I purple you'. It's like a combo of purple and 'I love you' in Korean. One of the members Taehyung aka V came up with it. This is what he said about it: “Purple is the last color of the rainbow colors so it means I will trust and love u for a long time.” ~ Kim Taehyung
Maybe react to Magic Shop, the live version with English subs.
Also, I have nothing against color-coded lyric videos, I think they are great! But maybe steer clear of the channels Jaeguchi and Lemoring. They tend to mix up members or have badly translated lyrics because they want their videos to be out as quick as possible to gather more views.

Although they have other producers and writers for their songs, they're pretty much involved with the whole making process of the songs they put out especially the rapline. There are plenty of clips where you can seem them actually making music. They also have once produced a theme song for their own show out of boredom and Suga, one the members being a producer himself, immediately arranged the music. (Not sure if i used the right terms) Namjoon on the other hand is more of a writer as he's more involved in song writing process. His lyricism is top tier. He often goes to live and tell the fans about the songs they released. Jungkook also once made a song on the spot on his live. You can check out their mixtapes especially AgustD and D2.

I just discovered your channel today from RUclips recommending it due to BTS reactions. So I watched your reaction to Yet to Come and then this one. I subscribed after the first reaction because I loved your honest and genuine reaction. I have always been a rock/metal fan, very much NOT into pop, hip hop, boy bands. My girls tried to get me to listen to BTS but I was very close-minded at the time , 2018. In Sept 2020 my daughter was washing up for me and was listening to music. I heard a very catchy rap song in a foreig language followed immediately by a beautiful, heart wrenching ballad so I asked who the 2 groups were. She laughed and said it was just one group BTS. So I started to look into them. Not only to they wrote the most amazing and inciteful lyrics, produce amazing beats and melodies, and incredible MVs, but they are fantastic role models for the world. They started as underdogs with no money and fought hard for where they are. If uou look a little into them and the company Big Hit whose mission is Music and Artists for Healing you will see their genuineness and that is the impression I get from you too. For their diversity perhaps check The Truth Untold for a ballad, House of Cards for more jazz like, Airplane Pt 2 for more Latin American feel, Outro Tear live for rap. The list goes on. Borahae 💜

Yeah, I love when people react to BTS with an open mind.
About BTS, it's important to know about them that two of the members, RM and Suga, were once underground rappers in the Korean hip-hop scene, which means that they were once independent artist that would do busking and struggle financially for the sake of pursuing music, so believe me when I tell you that BTS when through a hard time at the beginning because those people RM and Suga used to do music with were now shitting on them because they decided to get into the kpop industry. You may not understand the extend of this, but BTS was not born under the wings of any big management company/agency, no, BTS slowly grew over the years from the bottom of the ladder(they wrote about this in this song lol you didn't notice), and now in their 9th anniversary they are the biggest group in the whole world period. BTS' underdog story is inspiring, to say the least.
Now, about their songwriting/composing process, well, the leader(as in leader of a team) of BTS, RM, always talks about the process behind the scenes in 1h+ live-streams with us armys, he talks about the meaning of the lyrics he writes, choices of melodies, inspiration, his views of the music industry and music consumption nowadays, the "pain of creation", and also the co-producers or co- composers that helped. BTS' lyrics are a reflection of the members on experiences in life so they are very big on lyricism and honesty.
BTS has a wide spectrum of music genres, they have done pop, funk, neo-jazz, rock-rap, hip-hop, edm, latin-pop, neo-soul, trap, r&b, there's so little they have not try yet at least once, so yes BTS is the genre uwu
Thank you for appreciating BTS, you nice, keep going!

How their music process works based on what we are told is they do have in-house producers and they will pull in other producers or songwriters, but they and the main producer of their albums have the final say. Suga once said that it's like a year-round songwriting camp, everyone puts into a pile, compositions, lyrics, melodies, etc. and everything gets selected from that. Pdogg is the group's main producer that finalizes the album, but the members do actually work on the songs alone, or with their team to finish a song. There are many clips of them working on music individually, with each other, or with their in-house team, even times when the younger less experienced members will talk to the rappers (main songwriters & producers) to help with putting a song together for their individual projects.
So yes they have a supervisor in the music-making process, but at the time of their debut in 2013 it was very rare for a group to take part, let alone do it as rookies. I can name only 2 kpop groups at that time or before that were allowed to do what BTS does when it comes to making music. Even more rare though was their true creative freedom, the amount of cursing in their older albums is hilarious.
    Recommendations:
    I Need U
    Ma City (live)
    Jump (live)
Edit: The leader RM talks about the individual song and album making process, typically for each release.

When talking about production, BTS produce MOST of their tracks, with members Suga, J hope ,RM being the most involved(although other members have been involved in many songs over the years). Suga and RM have produced for and collabed with other artists as well, like Coldplay, Halsey etc.... They have their own solo mixtapes as well. They have their inhouse producers too, being Pdogg, Hissnoise,Ghstloop, and slowrabbit along with all 7 members. They have guest producers as well, like Troy Sivan who come for a song once in a while( check out Louder than bombs, its a haunting song) . But the members are always involved in the production and song making process. This specific song, Run BTS was produced by Suga(a member), Ghstloop and Hissnois. And this song was written by RM,SugaJ hope and Jungkook(who are all members).
Since you come from a rock background, please checkout Ma city, Dynoysus, Boy in luv, Fake love(rock version), Attack on bangtan, War of Hormone, and there are many other but these come to mind.

BTS and their company Big Hit started out as the tiny company and ‘black sheep’ of the SK music industry. All of the ‘Big 3’ companies and the media tried to push them down and discredit them because they were just plain scared. They have always pushed boundaries and taken their own path (even when not popular) and have so many different influences.
The rap line (Yoongi aka Suga/Agust D / Namjoon aka RM / Hoseok aka j-hope/hobi) are some of the main producers and writers of a good chunk of their own music. Namjoon is a literal genius and with lyrics (even taught himself English and knows Japanese), Suga’s raps are some of the fastest in the industry and he produces beats and songs so quickly, along with j-hopes unique color and skills have helped shape BTS into the force they are today 💜
They have a wide range of music style from the raps on songs like UGH! and Tear, vocal line songs like 00:00 and Truth Untold, and everything in between. My personal favourites though are their Japanese language tracks like Don’t Leave Me and Let Go, and so many of their B sides.
My favourite music influences prior to finding BTS are RHCP and then Foo Fighters (RIP Taylor), and Lady Gaga. 💕

BUT all members do solos project under their own name. The rappers RM, Suga (aka Agust D), JHope have mixtape. The vocalists Jimin, V, Jin and Jungkook have released singles, which are gifted to the fans, also the singers all have branched out into OST for korean dramas. Each members has a part in writing and the making of their music. They do not come to the studio and someone says 'here, sings this nicely, it will be a hit'.

So regarding the groups involvement in their writing/producing: From the beginning, if you look at the liner notes since their first album you will find the members listed as writers, producers etc, but their company (BigHit Music, formerly BigHit Entertainment) had in house producers that were consistent collaborators who helped them create their sound, nurturing the groups desire to be involved in the production process and helped their sound evolve over time. The whole point of BTS was for them to be real people, not perfect idols, who spoke up and spoke out for those who needed a voice, and for that reason the group was formed around the idea that they needed to be as involved as they could be. SUGA has described their process as more of a year round music camp, with all the members writing and arranging and sending in their ideas to the producers who will give notes and suggestions and things will be workshopped and moulded until they come up with a final product that suits the group and the message they're trying to deliver. Since the beginning RM, jhope, and SUGA have been backbone song writers because of their origin as an hiphop group, and RM and SUGA already came to the group with production experience which was instrumental in their early sound (and these days prod. SUGA is a hot commodity). It was very important to them that they write their own rap lyrics because the stories they were telling had to be from them and be honest. The 4 vocalists have learned a lot over the years to the point where they are all now writing lyrics and melodies that get used on their albums (example, the songs Blue & Grey and Stay on their BE album were both songs for members individual solo projects (V and Jungkook respectively) but the group liked the songs so much that they encouraged them to include them on their group album. So basically, it's not just the seven of them, but they are far from passive participants in what they put out.

There are plenty of behind the scenes docos, lives, etc where you can get a real feel for their process. You might enjoy watching the doco where Chris Martin travelled to South Korea to record My Universe with them, he does take the lead in the studio there, but you can see how collaborative they are. Their official RUclips channel if BangtanTV. There is plenty of evidence of their creative process. It is insanely collaborative, and pride takes a back seat in their group efforts, even down to line distribution.
If you check the KOMCA (Korean Music Association) you can see the credits for each member. Member Suga is known as Suga, real name Min Yoongi, Suga of BTS (for other artists where he produces) and Agust D for his solo work. Recently he wrote, produced and featured in Psy's That That. He has two full length solo mix tapes. He was active in the underground rap scene in South Korea pre BTS under the name Gloss. RM, real name Kim Namjoon has two solo mix tapes and is the second most credited Idol on KOMCA with near 300 credits. He was active in the underground as Ranch Randa among other names and at debut with BTS took the name Rap Monster.. but now RM means Real Me. J Hope, Real name Jeon Hoesoek, has one solo mix tape and releases his solo album next month. This is the rap line. With their current phase there are no more mix tapes but all 7 members will be releasing full albums as solo artists. All members have multiple songwriting credits already and have up till now released solo songs for free on sound cloud.
As someone interested in the technical sides of the music business, you will find much to enjoy here.
I did find this clip of them creating the theme song for one of their TV shows. It's a silly fun song. But it does show all of them in the studio. Song was written by Suga. But this is not the original which is paid content so maybe not for reaction just your interest.

Very much enjoy the way you do reactions! I've been classically trained in music since very young, and I particularly love film music (I almost chose that field as a career). Hans Zimmer is one of my fav film music composers, of course lol. BTS's rapper Suga also is a big fan of Hans, Hans' song Time from the film Inception is one of his favs. The 3 rappers made an incredible rap song together called Outro: Tear that has a kind of Hans Zimmer-esque instrumental to me, Suga was the one who composed the melody. And all 3 rappers are accredited for the songwriting on Outro: Tear, as they usually write their own parts. The song is dedicated to the other members of BTS and was inspired by BTS's almost-disbandment a few years ago when they were really struggling with the pressures of their global popularity. There's no music vid for it, so you can do a lyric video, and I highly suggest also adding their live performance of it at Wembley Stadium in england, it's a very iconic performance. BTS does not ever lip sync, just fyi. Here's the link to their Wembley performance of Outro: Tear:

The best Intro vid that introduces each specific member is the one made by Taylor Nakamoto, very well made and has the most up-to-date info. The rappers write their own lyrics. Lyrics for singers seem to be a collective effort between BTS and in house producers, with RM overseeing the process. RM is a talented lyricist (company producers ask him for help for lyrics for other groups as well so he is well-respected in this regard). So he has the most songs credited under his name (participated in over 200). He is involved in producing but less so than writing lyrics. I think he used to produce/compose more but writing/overseeing lyrics for everyone is taking up most of his time now so he doesn't submit songs as much as before. Suga is a producer. He used to sell songs when he was younger and started out as a beatmaker. He initially applied for the company as a producer, not an artist, but the CEO convinced him to become an artist. He does things like making beats and mixing and writes his own rap parts. He also produces songs for other artists (like psy's that that). Back in 2013-14 when bts wasn't as popular he used to recommend midi equipment combos and do reviews. JHope started later than RM and Suga but seems to do a little bit of everything. Members say he is good at writing popular melodies. The vocalists started the songwriting process much later than the three rappers and are mainly topliners. The main producer for bts is pdogg, their in-house producer. Other in house producers include hitman bang, slow rabbit, el capitxn and adora, and their names often show up in the credits. But making a song for BTS is competitive, even for BTS and their in house producers. BTS describes the songwriting process as a song camp. Everyone, including bts and others (like foreign composers) write songs and the best parts gets chosen and put together. It's a blind test system. And bts's company is known for crediting everyone who took part in the process. If bts wasn't very involved, they are at the back end of the credits. If they had significant contributions, they are at the front. It all depends on the song. members don't say they wrote the whole song themselves. They discuss parts that were chosen. And jokingly say how another member's work got chosen over their work. Members often share their versions of the songs that never made the cut. You could check out some of their demos on their anthology album and their soundcloud! You will notice that each of the members have very distinct style of music. Unfortunately, the members (but it seems mainly rm and suga) feel like they have nothing to write about right now so bts just announced that they are taking a break from group activities.

I’m a 50 year old British Latina who has always loved music, especially live. Prior to discovering BTS (introduced by my son originally) I would say I was mainly into rock, but also loved plenty of disco, pop, Latin music and much else. I’ve never felt as moved and inspired by a band and their music, though, as I have by BTS. Hope you enjoy learning more about them. I agree with other recommendations you’ve been given here and would add two of my favourites: RM’s Persona and one of their oldies, We On.
Re other bands, I’d love it if you checked out Jenny and The Mexicats - another really cool recent discovery. Thank you.

42 yr old ARMY here. My favourite bands: The Beatles, Queen, System of a Down, Green Day, Rancid basically bands like that but also like Barenaked Ladies, Hall & Oates, Simon & Garfunkel, 90s country. Since I started down the BTS rabbit hole 2 1/2 years ago I literally listen to mostly if not only BTS every single day. They have really taken "up every corner of my mind" 😅

Just to add some context to the lyrics, BTS is an acronym for Bangtan Sonyondan, or Bulletproof boys. So when they say, “Run Bulletproof” they are talking about themselves. They actually have several songs about being bulletproof, in several different genres. Being a rock musician, other BTS songs you might like, live performance of Dionysus, and the music video for Boy in Love (Not to be confused with Boy with Love that they did with Halsey, and which is a pop song)

Yet to Come live is absolutely phenomenal. Specially the one they did with Anderson Paak in the drums and a chorus. And the same concert they have Born Singer and For Yourh. Three songs released in the new album Proof.

"Bulletproof" is a reference to bts themselves, as their name in korean- Bangtan Sonyeondan- translates roughly to bulletproof boy scouts. "Run Bulletproof" is them talking about their nonstop run towards making music and their goals over the past 9 years. This song, like yet to come, was also on their anthology album. As a side not, they also have their own variety show called RUN BTS

One point the final 'Run bulletproof' is wrong in the lyrics. It is actually 'Run beautiful'.
They work with a couple of key producers but three of them especially are heavily involved in the production. They also are heavily involved in the writing process.

As someone in the comments mentioned. 'Ma City' LIVE by BTS is amazing. Just putting it out there that it's underrated but a great song.
Since some mentioned their ARMY background, I'm 26F, been an ARMY since 2019 but knew of BTS since 2015. I typically listen to Rock, Alt Rock, Punk & a bit of Metal. BTS is one of my outliers.

73 YO BTS fan here 💜 so I like a lot of different kinds of music. However, listening to BTS has gotten me into Pop music in general.
    Alicia Keys
    Arooj Aftab (closer to Jazz)
Cold Play (I had forgotten about them until "My Universe" was released)
    John Legend
Justin Beiber - his song "Holy" is beautiful.
Tom MacDonald - not all of his stuff, but things like "Fake Woke" "No Lives Matter", "Snowflakes" hits home with this unabashed liberal.
Other music I download includes African (including "Jerusalema"), Attmar Liebert, Graceland, Shel Silverstein, YoYo Ma, and more.

Pausing part way through watching this to give a few comments and thoughts - I may have more once I'm done.
One thing I'm kind of giggling about and enjoying in your reaction is watching how BTS is already challenging some of your preconceived ideas about music and about certain types of music and how those types of music "should" be. That's not a bad thing; we all have those kinds of biases and expectations about the world even if we strive to be open minded, and it takes work and effort to dissolve them. What I find so fascinating about it is that BTS as a group somewhat stands for those things - being open-minded, challenging yourself, and showing love for yourself and others.
I found it very telling that you kept repeating that you are still processing and that you're not sure if you love the song or not. That's okay! When I first started listening to BTS (and even to this day) they have songs that aren't my favorite. A lot of those songs grew on me over time, and some of them are ones I really treasure and love today (and some are still not my cup of tea, though I always appreciate the talent and hard work that goes into them).
I feel like I'm rambling a bit, but I guess over all I just wanted to say that it's okay to be unsure about whether you like the song or not, and it's okay to give your honest opinion. I think you'll find BTS surprising you a lot in the coming days as you explore them more, and the only thing ARMY asks is that you come into it respectfully and with an open mind.

In response to your last question:
Other artists that I like are: The Beatles, Bob Dylan, U2, Bob Marley, James Taylor, Queen, Coldplay, Avett Brothers, Jake Bugg, Killers, Eric Nam, Beyoncé, Adele, Lizzo. I like a lot of classic rock, alternative rock, folk, rap, hip hop.
You mentioned wanting to know of other artists especially independent ones. Eric Nam is a Korean American that went to Korea to make music cause their wasn’t a spot for Asian artists here. However, he came back to the US and made his own album with his own independent label. So you might be interested in him.

I'm an indie rock fan. My favourite groups are Alter Bridge and Disturbed outside of BTS. BTS is actually, literally, the only non indie group I listen to. They have such a diverse discography. If you're ready I think you'll really enjoy jumping down the BTS rabbit hole.

Outro: Tear live features just the 3 members of the rap line. It is a raw, heartfelt and emotionally charged performance with the lyrics reflecting the time they nearly disbanded in early 2018/late 2017.
At that point they'd been together for almost 7 years, performing together for about 5 years, and the pressures on them became too much to bear. The last part grabs my heart every time.

12:00 - Each member who's singing/rapping will light up at the top of the screen ;) Plus the lyric colour will change to the same colour as the name. I'm positive someone's already mentioned this, but I know it can be a little confusing at first. Also I agree with all the other comments about the BTS Room Live Festa 2021. It's a great little medley of a few of their songs in different genres from pop to hip hop and many more in between
Edited to add: 13:00 - never mind you worked it out LOL :)

this was a super fun reaction - made my morn😄yes, BTS is an anomaly worth learning more about, even if they're not your usual genre. i can relate to your initial apprehension of stereotypical "boy bands" and the negative connotation attached to the idea of "boy groups" from an indie rock loving perspective. i had initially experienced the same reflex when i came across BTS during the pandemic lockdowns in mid-2020.
as to the music i've been into, it ranges (off the top of my head), from old rockers like AC/DC, Van Halen, Aerosmith, G&R (seen them all in concert, several Day On The Green events, etc)... to Bowie, The Police, The Clash, Ramones, Buzzcocks, Social Distortion, *Green Day, Limp Bizkit, Johnny Rotten (yes i'm sticking to his orig tag lol), Gwen Stefani (way more than i can conjure up), Pink, Michael Jackson, Pavarotti (yes, classical opera)... it's a mixed bag (my family consists of several talented musicians, and have friends that are active indie artists). i'm sure that i'm not listing remotely all (or even other most current of) my go-to's. i like some rap, but some of the repetitive content tends to turn me off, honestly, but BTS's 3 rappers are legit (they are the first members and biggest contributors to writing BTS music to date) - and they each present different styles of rapping from one another. BTS was very much an unexpected journey for me.... but they are such a fun and awesome experience (if you were to dare fall into that vast rabbit hole, you'd get it lol)! i do like dance, and randomly came across their dance practice videos - which are pretty insane (that slowly got me hooked on BTS)! then watching vids of their live performances hit completely different from their mv's (and they change it up all the time). the group started as teens (ranging from just 15 to 19-ish at debut) - and their lower budget looks (they worked hard from the ground up and helped build the biggest company in SK, based on their talents as artists) was geared more toward a harder punky/hip hop vibe. but they are ever-changing (which i love!), and are- individually, as well as a group - super talented artists, in the broadest sense. they've created their own and/or collab'd on popular projects (yes, w/ the help of an extremely talented team), from webtoons, animated cartoons, to variety shows (coincidentally, the long-running and super popular Run BTS show), reality shows, music docus on their concert tours, they model (house ambassadors for Louis Vuitton and other brands), created fashion, act, have a music museum highlighting their career... in addition to songwriting/producing/composing much of their work (they have well over 300+ songs in their discography). i mean, it's mind-blowingly endless - no exaggeration. and, their live concerts are top notch. i've been lucky to attend 4 sold out concerts during their recent residencies in LA @ the Sofi Stadium + Las Vegas @ the Allegiant. BTS typically sell out stadiums worldwide, typically on presale, before they can go public (after which, resale tix asks can go around $40k/each). the guys don't even need opening acts for their concerts, all they have to do to get the crowd of ARMY engaged before the show starts is play their own music videos on large screen. they guys really draw in a hugely diverse fan base. and in all the rock & punk rock genre concerts i've attended (and you know it gets loud), i was blown away at how intense and super hype/loud BTS concerts get! nothing like it.

Hi so I'm from Germany and only turning 19 but I've been a fan of bts since 2016. I got one of the members solo MV's recomendet on my RUclips time-line (Yoongi aka. Suga aka. Agust d for his solo stuff ) and yeah I liked it and got deeper in what he and the others do.
He (Suga) is also my personal favorite just because I can relate to him the most and his words are always really comforting ig but they're all precious to me and they all have developed their own stile in what kind of music they release and share.
As many explained, BTS was and is involved in their music in every album eather as writers and/or producers. They have mostly group tracks but also solo stuff, songs with only two or four of them and collaborations individual and as group.
One of my personal favorites is "Tomorrow" by BTS since the lyrics really helped me so many times to continue living. I also really love "Intro: Nevermind" because of it's message.
BTS has Songs in quite many genres and you will most likely find at least a few songs you really like if you dig a little deeper.
Other artists I personally listen to are for example :
*Måneskin* (Italian band), *Woodkid* (most known for "run boy run" but has so much more to show), *Depeche mode* (which is more bc of my mum but I still enjoy many of their songs), *Stromae* (an Belgium artist), *Imagine Dragons* (which u probably know) *Yungblud* (British artist) and some of the classics like *The neighborhood* and *Arctic Monkeys* but also a lot of film music/only instrumentals/klassic music.
The rest is pretty much all over the place with some other Korean artists included. One song of this artist or that artist I randomly came across.
So yeah I hope u have a great day and I'm sorry if there are any language mistakes since English is not my first language.
    💜💜💜💜💜💜💜 💜

having one's expectations broken is a beautiful thing, and being open is a beautiful thing. I think I'm closer to your generation in age, boy bands yes they are not respected, they are seen as manufactured, and if you made music back then you probably know more the ways that it was. (you should do a series on your channel about how it was manufactured, I would watch it! also interested to hear your thoughts on the value of pop.) Kpop also has an interesting history, although someone who is coming in fresh/virgin also is cool, as long as that person is open (as you seem to be) and honest (as you seem to be). BTS *IS* different. I think seeing them in contrast to what was the kpop landscape where they were being active, and in contrast to the western music scene when they were active, it makes perfect sense as to why they are so successful. Also, authenticity is always the way to go.. and I think that's really the crux of why they didn't fail and will last (even though they have some change very recently spending more time gaining creative juices back by working on solo projects). I like to see them as an artist collective.
Looking forward to seeing what you have to say.
Ps - when you said "this is not a BTS reaction channel" i kind of laughed. BTS is more than a band to a lot of the fans, so it is possible that that is the band they are pretty much into. The fandom is very diverse, there are charts that you can find easily online with the demographic breakdown. But I think there is a large segment that do have something in common. I am one who didn't really like kpop in the iterations that came before the generation after BTS (BTS are 3rd generation, we are in 4th and very beginning 5th generation I believe now). I think the change that I like more has to do with the increasing number of genre change that happens per song now, but I've heard it done badly too. It's just in the past kpop was more a jumble to be of genre elements. I was alt rock, thrash metal, some punk mostly and a non kpop fan and ignored BTS for 2 years before actually listening and discovering them. One of the members Suga, the one who did the fast rapping section in Run BTS, has an english interview somewhere on RUclips that talks about how kpop is not just music but performance and other things, and I think that that sometimes confuses people who think that means the performance will be the same thing as the music. The best way to be about it, like I alluded to earlier, is to be open.

I loved your reaction! BTS are heavily involved in all aspects of their music. All 7 of them contribute to their music and also make their own solo songs but RM is probably the main writer for the group and Suga the main producer (he also works as a producer for other artists), although J-Hope does a large amount of the writing and producing as well. The other 4 members also write/produce/compose but are not as experienced as the 3 rappers in the group and are more reluctant to release the music they work on although they are also very talented. They do work alongside a couple in-house writers/producers (mainly Pdogg) that they've worked with for around 10 years. They also like to work with producers/writers from around the world. With BTS I really get the sense that while they are heavily involved in their music, they also want to make the best songs they possibly can and convey their messages the best way they can so they have no issue working with other creative minds to produce the best piece of work they can. BTS and Big Hit are also VERY good at crediting, they usually assign credits in the order of most contribution to least contribution, and they credit every single person who works on a song (no matter how miniscule their contribution). None of the members pretend to contribute more then they do, they're all crazy talented at producing and writing so they have absolutely nothing to prove when it comes to making music and have no ego about working with others. Something I've noticed is that in interviews with outside writer/producers when asked about working with BTS they all mention how different working with BTS and their label Big Hit is due to the genuine collaboration that occurs when making songs. While BTS obviously do incorporate the formula you talked about in your last video in their songs, they're also artists and will go off book if they have an artistic direction they want to go in (as you saw in Yet To Come). Luckily, they're part of a company that has always valued them and their artistic freedom no matter what which has allowed them to explore many different genres and styles over the years.
Just a suggestion! But I would avoid colour-coded lyrics or lyric videos of any kind that aren't official (aka aren't on the HYBE labels channel or BangtanTV channel) as the translations are often wonky and they make a lot of mistakes when it comes to pointing out which member sung what line. Doolset Bangtan is a great website that has translations for all of BTS' songs as well as explaining any korean culture that is referenced.
