For comments on recursion, Current implementation on java only allows Empty bundles to be put inside bundles, and bundles use weighted values for items to determine how many go in a bundle. Aka 1 tool OR 16 snowballs OR 2 snowballs +56 dirt, etc. So data limits don't balloon quite so bad since each inventory slot is max 65 items which may or may not be unique. Though I'm not sure if you could stuff 64 unique written books in a bundle, which could be bad.
Oh. Unfortunate then, it would be much cooler, if tools or 16-stack throwables was been able to be in bundles in big amounts. Extra tools for mining, beds for netherite mining and dragon killing, sack for all this structure and mob loot, funny chunkban books, preparations to things like "how did we get gere?", more useful stews and potions, more conwenient minecarts, boats. So much uses
It’d be too powerful, literally more than 2x stronger than a shulker box. Like you could have an entire tool bundle, an armor bundle, a potion bundleand and enchanted book bundle and you would be able to adventure pretty much for infinity. No more inventory management, only bundles.

It sucks.
I’m playing a 1.19.2 modpack right now (Enigmatica 9 Expert if you’re curious) that allows bundles to be used, but there is some mod, not sure which one, that lets you scroll while hovering over the item to cycle through the inventory, to change which item will be removed first, which is very nice. In the example you showed 2:47, you could scroll twice to move the sand and dirt slots to the end, then remove the planks.
Yeah, a similar idea I can imagine would be having a grouped vertical/horizontal scrolling list with buttons for mobile players (ofc having a UI that shows the items in like say groups of 4, and it shows the top 4 unique items every time you scroll, then the next 4 and so on... ) it basically makes it so that you have to search the bundle by scrolling up/down and select the required item without cluttering the player inventory. To empty the bundle completely, maybe we can just have the bundle UI have a button to throw out items and it also helps mobile players to easily use it?
For the crafting recipe I think they should make it something like:
2 Strings + 4 Leather + 2 Rabbit Hides
This makes them more accessible to players in the early game. (Rabbits are fairly rare to find and getting hides from them is even more rare! And finding 6 of them?? Idk how, unless you spawn in the middle of the desert with the whole rabbit family waiting in front of you)
Edit: Punctuation oops
I'm pretty sure its quark, though it might be corail tombstone! I didn't realize that bundles were a vanilla thing bc I was playing with mods lmao
Somebody already solved this problem with mods. Using the scroll wheel while your cursor is over a bundle in the inventory screen, it allows you to scroll to the item you want to grab from the bundle, as opposed to spraying items everywhere and making an annoying mess.

I still wish they'd work with nonstackables. The main things that fill my inventory when adventuring are saddles, horse armor, enchanted books, tools, and armor. Having a way for those not to steal 14/27 inventory slots
I think they mainly just need to make those things stackable. I get why armor isn't, but saddles, music discs, horse armor, enchanted books, banner patterns, etc. should be
@@pout6038I understand why anything with a durability isn’t stackable, since if the durability of two (or more) items you are trying to stack are different from each other, then the stack now needs to store each unique durability ID per item in the stack instead of just storing how many instances of an identical (in *every* way) set of items you have like the current system does, this would only get worse the more crap you have to track per item such as enchantments and trims, not to mention how you would even get the desired item out of the stack or how you can stabilize the stack enough to not corrupt the data via not having enough space to track the items which would result in the game going “fuck this” and making every item in the stack identical to an arbitrary individual in the stack to simplify the tracking process.
Honestly I would probably just introduce a scraping system for items with durability to combat the lack of inventory slots, which I will throw in my idea of what a good scraping system that actually solves the issue looks like below
I’ll begin with the item that facilitates the system, a portable tool box that acts like sort of like an unbreakable anvil if you squint/cope hard enough, but not really since it repurposes the durability function of other items as a scrap storage system that starts at zero but fills to [insert balanced base max capacity here] units of scrap as you throw more useless junk mojang thinks is good dungeon loot in it while it’s in the player inventory with an “are you sure you want to scrap this item? [display item, its modifier(s) and durability here]” type of message to prevent accidental destruction of valuable items.
What does the scrap do? Well when you place the tool box down you can interact with it like a work bench to bring up the field repair menu, which lets you repair items at a 1:1 ratio of scrap to durability, with enchanted items requiring an additional exp fee for repairs (I’m thinking something like one level per every level of enchantments on the item with durability [ex: sharpness 2 + unbreaking 3 = five levels needed to complete repair, or luck of the sea 3 + lure 3 = six levels needed to complete repair]. Items with mending cannot benefit from this process at all because that enchantment kinda invalidates repairs in general once acquired with no adverse effects other than maybe stunting the level up process, but that’s a comment topic for another day. However fear not, as if your items end up getting too expensive to field repair, you can instead choose to transfer a random enchantment from the item to an unenchanted book for a heavy fee that will drain the entire base scrap holding capacity of the toolbox (more on increasing scrap capacity later) and an exp level fee that uses the same formula as field repair of enchanted items uses but divided by [insert balanced number here, rounding vertically (up or down for the uneducated) in the more balanced direction] after the initial calculation is complete.
Thats all pretty neat and enables new things, there has to be some catch, otherwise it makes the difficulty settings even more meaningless? Yes, and the first catch is the obvious “one scrap may equal one durability for repairs but not vice versa for the process of accumulating scrap”, however, there is a more pressing issue, it doesn’t accept any old item with durability, it only accepts those that have been found in the world or dropped by mobs, so no crafting or trading for unlimited scrap (they can still be repaired and have their enchantments transferred, just not broken down for scrap).
However not all hope is lost, as there is an alternative way to get scrap, and that is to use the toolbox to “combine repair” (slap two identical items below max durability in a crafting table or anvil and get one item with the two durability values added + 10%) at no additional cost, in fact it uses the durability that overflowed past the item’s maximum to gain scrap in the process (using the same ratios as if you were scraping an item normally. Example using arbitrary numbers for demonstration purposes: item A has 80 out of 100 durability and item B has 50 out of 100 durability, when combined the new item C will have the maximum durability because 80 + 50 >/= 100, and that’s before the combine bonus, however it does not get “over durability” because that’s not how Minecraft works so the extra 30 durability left unused gets thrown in the garbage never to see the light of day again. Using a toolbox to do this however would instead use that leftover 30 durability [plus 10% of 130 durability] to create scrap as if it belonged to an item that would be scrapable.) With the only limiting factor being how much scrap it can hold as any scrap created over the current max capacity is lost and then temporarily disables the toolbox’s ability to scrap other items in your inventory but all functionality gained by being placed in the world is left intact.
On the process of improving the toolboxes capiblities, we could use the boring enchant system, or we could just use a smithing table to add the necessary iron needed to add more toolbox shelfs witch will hold the additional max capacity of scrap, with the part of the tool box that makes it a box instead of a portable tool shelf, holding both the base scrap capacity and the tools needed to disassemble equipment in a manner that leaves usable scrap behind and jury rig repairs with said scrap. (WITHOUT NEEDING SOME STUPID TEMPLATE BECAUSE THERE IS SEVERAL MAGNITUDES OF DIFFICULTY BETWEEN IMBUING DIAMOND EQUIPMENT WITH MAGIC STEEL AND *ADDING A FUCKING SHELF TO AN IRON BOX, YOU STUPID AND LAZY FUCKING DEVS… * aw shit, i got worked up over a hypothetical situation again.)

My main inventory issue comes from all of the unstackable Items i need to carry on each journey. My tools, buckets, etc. If there was a bundle that was basically a toolbag, that only held unstackable items that could be a step in the right direction, though I'd probably want a better way to reach those items than what bundles offer. Perhaps some radial wheel with a keybind like in GTA or Prey, though i don't know how that would be implemented for mobile players.
For mobile: tap, hold, slide to option
that could be a seperate item
Instead of the the whole bundle idea why not just add backpacks instead...😅
For mobile: tap item then tap bundle to place inside. double tap to open or close bundle ui. Double tap item in bundle to drop or pick out.
@@frozensalt6174 because backpacks would basically just be shulkerboxes, which already exist, and because increasing inventory space only delays the problem coming up again.
The reason inventory sucks right now is that there are a bunch of small items which clutter it up: seeds, flowers, foods, wool colors, mob drops, and dungeon items like brewing stands, chests, glass, chiseled blocks, etc. Bundles are meant to hold a collection of loose items to be a more direct fix for the problem.
Bug with 1.21: I was joining my brothers minecraft world that I had played before 1.21 came out. After it released, I went into the world, and it was like I had never played it before. All my items were gone and I was at spawn. My brother’s things were fine.
Needing rabbit hides to craft it is really unfortunate since they’re so freaking rare

Yea what is mojang smoking 💀
They should make the bundle super easy to craft, like replace the rabbit hide with leather, otherwise not many people are gonna go out of their way to find the rabbits and build the bundle, leading to yet another feature no one cares about (like the aquisator, most people dont even know how to build it)

@@RappelzWikiaPolskaits for early game
@@RappelzWikiaPolskaAs an endgame player, I actually think the bundle would be pretty useful (especially if you can put them in Shulker Boxes). When you’re mining or exploring, you always have to put down the shulker box to put your stuff in it. Break it, pick it up, go back to mining, put it down when your inventory is full, rinse and repeat. I feel like the Bundle would be way faster.
It also has a UI that shows you what’s in it, so it’d be easier to categorize, instead of putting down all four of my backpack-shulker boxes to see where the hell I’ve been storing those enchanted books.
Speaking of enchanted books, the bundle is also arguably better than the shulker box when it comes to unstackable items, since it can hold 64. I feel like I’d get a lot of use out of them in Trial Chambers or other areas where they can drop enchanted books, potions, etc.
Or hear me out, a real backpack with working gui! @@greenbean1467
i feel like having to hold a key(left alt, for example) that makes display window of the bundle not move and actually work as workspace(can interact with items directly in "preview" window of bundle and drag them out too) sounds like the most logical and practical solution. however, this will have problems, as the bigger the size is the bundle in space(like having 64 different blocks in a bundle), the more it will intervene in interacting with actual inventory, which is still fixable(in most cases)
Great idea, not gonna work for touchscreens, which is the main reason it's been delayed this long to begin with
this is legit how a bunch of the mods i play with handle items like this, and it's pretty intuitive when you screw around with it for a bit.
+1
@@MudakTheMultiplierI can think of how that would work for touchscreens by making it the default interaction state with a long press when nothing else is selected.
@@GuiSmith sure that would work, but does Minecraft have any other alternate long press interactions in their UX though? That would be a pretty big break from their style guide, especially since some people have trouble separating touch and hold from drag.
My point isn't that they can't possibly make it work, it's that they are publishing a professional level piece of software now, so things that work might not be an option for other reasons that aren't obvious. And often those reasons are related to accessibility.
@@MudakTheMultiplierTouch the bundle, and it opens the UI. Problem solved.
They should definitely increase the bundle's storage limit to atleast 128 items because no one chases 6 rabbits for an entire day for a glorified qol.

Just allow everyone to right click the bundle to open up a chest UI and it is a lot more usable and functional than whatever perplexing function they have right now

In any case, bundles holding up to one stack do absolutely nothing for the inventory situation unless you're ending up with few each of different types of stackable items, and you're out of luck if you want them to help at all with unstackable items. To me, they're actually pretty useful since a lot of the time my inventory gets cluttered with many small stacks of items I accumulate exploring around or gathering materials.
I'd honestly say they could actually need to become either easier to craft, added to loot or trades, or maybe even have the ability to be gradually expandable to something like 96 items. They will inevitably make the items within them less "reachable" management-wise so it feels kinda natural to commit and let that be some sort of cost for more space.
I think it would be cool if they could be attached to tamed mobs like chests to horses and the others, maybe to wolves but they've gotten so many overhauls already.
Some people are going to find some weird things with how the bundle will change with an item.
Like the chicken: 4:12
one other issue is Realms lack the experimental features settings so I can't toggle Bundles on my Realm, otherwise I definitely would have done so already
this is a bundle of joy to hear
Tbf I really like bundles, I started using it for exploration mostly in my modpacks and they are really useful. Took some time to get used to it but like, imagine you're exploring a dungeon and want some items from there that you don't need a entire stack of, those come in handy really well. Stealing like one brewing stand, some blasting furnaces, anvils, some ender pearls.
The thing with taking items out is a little annoying if you want to carry something you need inside but like, it's not the purporse of the bundle. At the end of the day you'll get home and chuck everything in a double chest anyway after the exploration LMAO
MAIN BUNDLE USE: You found any rare items that you dont need but you want? Send it into the bundle until you're ready to put it in the chest!
Am I the only one here who has listened to the song “Dupe - Mbappe” ???
Now if we could get an update on the Combat Update 2.0, that would be great. It's been complete radio silence for like 4 years.
4:01 GET OUT OF MY HEAD
I found these are really good for early game storage when you just have a double chest filled with random crap, sometimes with a bundle you can free up like half a chest by condensing all the nonsense into a single slot
I can’t wait to see how much Steve can carry with this one
After 4 years the Caves and Cliffs era (might) finally come to an end...
Steve is now even stronger
You can put gold blocks inside the bundle and then duplicate them, then put them inside sulker box, duplicate, put them inside chest, ctrl right click, duplicate, repeat

I really hope they make single-stack items only take up a single slot. It drastically helps with the inventory problem, and it isn't overpowered because you can't use any of those items without taking them back out again.
Counter point, 65 iron pickaxes in 1 slot
I mean that would just functionality remove non stackable items if you don't mix per slot
or just make the items stackable. there is no reason for music discs, banner patterns, same enchanted books and stuff like that to be unstackable
@@evilded2 When realistically would you want to carry around 64 pickaxes?
What use does that even have?
Remember that to use those pickaxes you still have to get them out of the bundle. So the only realistic time this is used is when you have to carry around a whole bunch of non-stackable stuff: AKA, the very purpose of the bundle.
@@hhff8534 That could work as well. But I still think we should keep the bundle idea even with that change.
@@BasicallyBaconSandvichIV that change is basically the bundle idea with most items. being able to have 64 tools or 64 totems in bundles seems a bit overboard.
the actual purpose of the bundle is not to extend inventory, but clean up the clutter of random items. rest of the unstackable items should stay unstackable because there is a reason why they're unstackable in the first place
The bundle fill meter on Java is way better than what was shown on the preview

Ehhhhh, I don't like that they use rabbit hides, since they only spawn in like... deserts and ice biomes (many of which are *rare* as all hell). The wiki even lists rabbits as "an uncommon passive mob". Uncommon.
It makes more sense to use something like leather if they truly want it to be an early game item.
No, its perfectly fine for rabbit hide to be used because it was completely worthless before bundles. If they increase the spawn rate a little it should be good
They could have just solved the UI issue by making it open a chest like interface when held and used via left click/L2
Bundles is insanely good, I always enable them. Even if their craft recipe is kinda hard cuz bunny is hard to find sometimes, but they worth it.
Also some mods have Bundles in their loot pools, so in modpacks like ATM they easy to find and extremely helpful until you create AE2 system. Sometimes even after.

what i am sure of is that it will be useful when it comes to adventuring. It's like stacking 2 different types of items in one.
The sorting out process is a FILO, First In Last Out. Probably they used a class struct knowing bedrock is made from c++
Imagine being a manager in charge of Minecraft development and finding out the Bedrock team is having issues implementing a feature... so instead of letting the Java team add it now and having the Bedrock team add it whenever they're ready, you stop the Java team from adding it even though it's completely finished and ready by now, and have them wait until the other team finally finishes it.
It's right there?! The only thing that is not implemented is the Crafting Recipe...
it's literally there in official versions, just turn on the experiment
Before aquatic update, that was how java and bedrocked worked, and it was absolutely horrible
0:31 "It got sacked" omfg
3:00 I hope and pray they make it so the contents of the bundles don't just vomit on the ground, that's so annoying because misclicks can happen, just open it like a mini UI next to the player inventory UI...or something when opened and click/drag items into your player inv. Is that hard to code? If it's still vomit, I guess just stand over a hopper with a chest everytime. sigh.

Bundles? No way, sounds great! Finally we won't need to enable them with the experiment menu.
Finally, bag.
Steve keeps getting closer and closer to being able to One Hit Kill the one above all with each update
The ability to rummage through the bag (grab the item you want instead of whatever happens to be first) would be essential for the ergonomics of the bundle. I was 100% expecting to be able to mouse over the mini inventory screen that appears and grab what you want

The rabbit hide in the crafting recipe is a terrible idea since bundles are supposed to be early game storage component. Rabbits are already rare enough that spawn in a biome most people have little reason the explore early game with a single rabbit hide not even having an 100% chance of dropping from a killed rabbit. The crafting recipe now makes the bundle mid to late game making the player have to go out of their way to kill rabbit rather than having enough naturally after a while of exploring.
I agree, I get that they wanted rabbit hide to have more of a purpose but this is not the way to do it.
I’m not even sure if rabbits are that rare, it’s just that nobody ever bothers with killing them

2:04 YES, WHY CANT WE PUT STUFF IN OUR OFFHAND, ITS LIKE THE DEVS WANT BEDROCK TO SUCK AHHHHHHHHH
Sorry thats always been in my top 3 reasons for my disdain to bedrock
I mean, you've been able to get them in normal Java (through commands) for a while now, and iirc you can choose what you take out. I'm not sure Bedrock will have that luxury due to how they don't really a have a cursor, but it's not really a big deal anyway I don't think.
It would be nice if we could click on the item and the popup menu would stay shown so you could pick the items you want to take out of the bundle.

I think it'd be a good idea that if you hold the bundle and right click it with an empty hand it actually takes out the last item you put in (this'd work best if you held the bundle in your left hand) and to drop all of them you do the same as it is now but you shift-right click
this'd be good cuz let's say you make a bundle exclusively to hold potions, you could quickly take out a potion and drink/throw it without having to fill up your entire inventory with unstackable potions or having to right click with the bundle in your inventory in the middle of combat, making using potions for combat actually viable instead of the only real use for harming potions being for tipped arrows
Steve’s inventory should be filled with shipment boxes of bundles of water buckets
