A friendly group of people building quality constructed trailers. Thanks Stan for bringing us to Canada to see their products and their manufacturing facilities.
Thanks for the great video! Southland builds the best trailers! What a great group of guys. I sure am proud of our team. Thanks again for taking the time to come see our operation.
Very impressive. Also NOT using powder coating is very rare these days in trailer building. Kudos to Southland for using regular paint. It lasts a lot longer in Canadian winters. I've had multiple trailers practically disappear that were powder coated by other companies that shall not be named.
Thats because they did not prep the trailer correctly, any paint is in the prep work. this electric painting they described is legit how powder coating works. And why not name the companies? you rather someone else purchase the trailers that dont last?
@@jxrdnzprobably because it never happened lol cars and trucks aren’t powered coated because it would blow the bottom line out and they wouldn’t sell anything. Cars are sold for a loss sometimes, usually for a minimal profit to the mfg not the dealership, replacement parts and repairs are how dealerships make all their money.
Very impressive operation they have. Thanks for going on the inside to get all the footage. I love seeing how things are made. Southland really puts a lot of emphasis on details that in the long run, make their trailers last longer so you get the most out of your money. Keep these type videos coming!
Yes I agree with their statement of having high quality trailers! I purchased a 2023 Southland 7x14 dump box trailer from my dealership named C&V Trailers in Fort St. John, BC. Its has a Electric Jack on the front that at a flick of the switch will turn on the scissor lift for the box and this trailer is rock solid and very pleased with my unit! You cannot go wrong with Southland Trailers! C&V Trailers is a great dealership as well and went out of their way to help me out with anything needing modifications. I needed the trailer cord extended 2 extra feet because my hitch was recessed a bit and would unplug when i made tight turns. Could not be happier! Only issue is the scissor lift will only lift gravel to the max rated gvw of the trailer. We filled the trailer to the brim where gravel was spilling over the side once as we were only towing it 200 yards. Scissor lift would not lift it more than a foot. So we had to take 3 skid steer buckets off the trailer and then it lifted the rest. Not a big deal, I just wanted to see if it could do it.
Out of all the trailer manufacturers you’ve been to Stan, southland appears to go a couple steps above the other manufacturers I’ve seen! Very impressive!!
Their web site is broken and useless. Pages don't load, forget any specs, no images. You would think a company proud of its products would show them off. Not this place.
Really enjoyed seeing a quality operation, and even though not in need of a trailer, went to their website to see. Hope they get a lot of positive response from this video. Great job.
Welcome to Canada Stan. We know Southland trailers even here in Ontario but I didn't know everything about them until now. Get yerself some authentic perogys and a nice steak while your in Alberta mate. Cheers 🇨🇦
I live in Canada right at the Ontario Manitoba border and own several enclosed trailers, only one Southland right now. As the others wear out or rot they will be replaced with Southland. The one Southland we have is a 14ft V with 86 inch high walls and has become my go to trailer even if I don't need all the space. They make a quality product and a dream to pull. I've had two occasions to call for support and fom the serial number they know in seconds what I have. Oh ya and no on hold forever and it's a real person. Wish I found them sooner and not wasted money on the ones I have now.
I’ve got a 20 ft Royal cargo trailer I bought in about 2007 and I didn’t realize that Southland built those. I’ll need to get new doors for the back as the aluminum in the panels seems to be corroding away from beneath the paint but I think it’s from an electrolysis issue. The trailer is awesome.
Ha ha. That's funny. They are good trailers. I tried to get a job there. They have decent incentives. You get a trailer at cost for one. Unfortunately I didn't get the job... long story, but I build giant fuel tanks now. It's fun too.
winds are so high they would blow trains off the tracks back before the railway was dismantled, to this day it still wrecks even the biggest of trucks that travel there
Like watching your channel! Great videos!! Have you done or thought about doing video on your dump trailers you have and give a review? If you haven’t done that already. Are you going to have a video on south shore dump trailers being built at the factory that you went to ?? Thank you for the great videos!!
What kind of hassel is it coming through custom with a new trailer? Not one of their employees said eh,hahaha. Roll out the barrel we'll have a barrel of fun, haha.
That was cool - but a trick was missed when it was flipped over, in that it would have been an excellent time to show how effective the undersealing and protection was against the road conditions there.
Why don’t they use primer and paint on there trailers for more of a protection. They did not mention that in the video. Thanks Stan for the great content.
Looks like a great company. But that “why we don’t powered coat” line was a certified sales pitch. The reason manufactures don’t powder coat cars and trucks isn’t because it’s not as good as paint…. It’s 10x better. But also 5x the price and would completely ruin the market price of cars and trucks. It’s also not worth a dam if a car is in a wreck. It’s not feasible for a vehicle. But for anything that’s a utility like a trailer yes it’s a massive advantage. But costs more.
so do they sell them in the US or do I have to go to Canada to get one. Nothing against Legend but these trailers seem a lot better then the ones I have been buying.
@@foonus406 True but any northern State that gets snow during Winter months also salt their roads. I live in northern Vermont and they salt the roads all the time during Winter.
It is called electrostatic painting for a reason. Goes on the same way as powder coating. You talk like no one has ever heard of most things you talk about, and a lot of us have.
Sold! How do I buy one? I bought a rock solid two years ago and it’s junk! Screws are all backing out the floor is buckled the welds are all tack welded . The wall is about to fall of the trailer it’s the biggest pile of junk I ever bought.

O those Canadians doing a fine job don't you know must be all the clean crisp air up there A .That's some fine manufacturing going on you know
I’m so proud to be a part of this company with the amazing and innovative team that we have. Thanks for capturing the passion for what we do Stan!

Love seeing quality products being made !
I’m actually impressed with the way they make the trailers
If I lived in canada I would buy their trailer just from your video, what an awesome business

Great trailers. Proudly made in Alberta. Bought one this spring. Quality built.
I can attest to the miles or km put on that cargo; I have been all over with that unit!
Love our team here!

❤❤ that seems like a really great trailer.... Thanks guys.....JJ...😊
Gotta love a company that invests in their employees, certainly keeps a quality product being made! & thinking about their customers too! Thanx !

Have to love a company that goes above and beyond to build quality products.
Looks like a great product build by people that take pride in their work. Thanks for making the trip to do this review Stan.
Great video! Thank you for coming up to Lethbridge and showing what an incredible place and trailer Southland Trailers make.
Somehow, I can now see trailer-rolling races as the next Canadian sport. 🤣
If I needed one....I would buy one. Thanks Stan.
That was awesome. 20 guys were just moving the trailer over 20 feet
Really Nice Trailers, Wish I needed one.
Love this, that's the trailer I'd want to buy

We have those trailers up here in NW Montana. Until now I had no idea they were this well built. I’m buying them for sure! Thanks Stan!
Great video stan, professional company, quality trailer
Very informative video. Got a love the way these guys do you stuff. A.🤔
GOD BLESS! Impressive trailers.
Great job god bless I could use one of those trailers well, built rugged
Thanks and God bless
I bought one of their dump trailers. Pretty happy with it I must say
Awesome trailers 👍👍👍
Glad you made it up here brother before the cold kicked in lol 😂
I have no need for a trailer, but this video makes me want to buy one anyway!
I'm curious with a rollover fully loaded outcome. But they sure put a lot of extra time and build quality in them. Enjoyed the video Stan.
Here in South Carolina we rarely have road salt put out but the undercoat is a good thing.

Stan in Alberta!! Good stuff
Thank you very impressive.
Southland is dope here in Canada 🇨🇦
I just bought a Southland dump trailer on auction yesterday. Hoping to pick it up next week. Don't know anything about them so wish me luck!

need those cargo trailers down south where they get 200kmh+ winds in the Wreckhouse areas xD

Why not put wheels on the top..
What's the difference between Canadian roads and American roads? Asking for a friend.
In Alberta where they are made the roads are salted for the majority of the winter.

interstate, welded doors, wins
So what is a "Canadian road"?
Ha! Now I know all the Southland Trailer secrets. We'll be building the same in India for 1/2 the cost... Just joking.

@@shawnmason5290 it’s out of Georgia. I have two of them. Junk both falling a part. I left them a Google review. Gonna make a video on it soon.
