Great Reaction....... There is a Very Moving "Live" Version of Craig singing this at the Grand Ole Opry, it was the only time Craig planned on singing this song, but other artist's told him he NEEDED to record it and share it....... (As I recall)
He had no intention of releasing the song bc he thought it was too hard. His manager begged him to release it and talked about how it would help so many people in similar situations, so he released it. Beautiful song. Beautiful soul.
He sung it on the Grand Old Opry, Noone had ever heard it until this and when he walked off the stage he said I hope everyone I'll never sing it again and his friend Blake Sheldon told him that he had to record it because it would help alot of people, so he did, it's such a beautiful song,Thank You Sir and Ma'am ❤ I love ya'll both, sending love from Lafayette Georgia 🍑
When he walked off stage at the Grand Ole Opry it was Ricky Skaggs that talked to him and told him that he needed to record this. Blake Shelton was the one that helped get it on radio and made it more popular
This man just reenlisted in the army on the grand ole Opry to finish his 20 yrs career, seen him in Iraq and my home state he gave me a big hug each time
Such a sadly beautiful song that makes me marvel at the strength he has to even sing it in a live show. My son has been gone for 22 years, (he was also 19)and that feeling never really goes away but somehow you keep going on even when it feels impossible. It's a "club" that I would not want the most despicable person in the world to be a member of. If you are new to this club, know you are not alone and in time, that pain will give way to smiles when memories come, though sometimes those hidden tears need to be released so let them out when the need arises and wake up to find the joy in a new day! Thank you for this video
This was such a nice, encouraging message. Unfortunately I’m in the same club. Four years ago I lost my son 2 weeks after he turned 20. Like you said you never get over it but it does get a bit easier over time. I still can’t look at his pictures or go down memory lane like you,but your message gives me hope that in time I’ll be able to. I’m so sorry for your loss. 💙
Thank you for reacting to this. I requested it a while ago in honor of my son who I lost when he was 21. I can’t believe the strength he has. I wish I did
Watching Craig sing that is so personal it almost makes me feel like I'm intruding on his grief, if that makes sense. Thankfully I've never experience what Craig is going through, although my parents did when my baby brother passed away.
This song is almost too touching and heartrending to respond to. Thanks for your sincere and empathetic reaction. There are definitely situations in life that only God's love can carry us through.
Craig Morgan's faith gives him the strength and hope to go on...even on very difficult days. I lost my 2-month-old son 49 years ago. Five years ago my 22-year-old granddaughter died (leaving behind a 3 y/o daughter and 5-week-old son). My faith in Jesus Christ (my granddaughter was a believer, too) is all I could cling to and still my comfort, strength, and hope.
This song touched my heart not only because I am a faithful follower of Christ now, but you mentioned your wifes name was Karen and my stepmom has that name and i recently found out 90% of the things I was told (probably to keep me from forming bonds), was lies and now I eliminate what people say about others and go straight to the source. God is real He truly is and the entire world will know of God!!! God bless you and I pray everyone is being loved the way God intended us to be loved.
Thanks for the song - MORE important THANKS FOR LISTENING while his lyrical pain in the heart is emoted in melody ... just raw feelings so difficult to hear .... UNIMAGINABLE TO BEAR in so doing ! Great job, good folk. God bless, jj
I sent out this song to my brother around Father's Day this year. My nephew passed away in a car wreck going to school to take his last test, he was supposed to graduate just 4 days later. We had his Celebration of Life Friday night and we went as a family to his graduation. They had his cap and gown in his chair. When they said his name we all stood up for him as a family and put our heads down to pray and we instantly all began crying hearing the sound of all the chairs going up. Everyone there had joined us. I tell that story to tell you this. Blake Shelton, Trace Adkins and a few other singers waited outside in line, not wanting to cut in line because of the amount of people that came to pay their respects the night before the funeral. Craig heard they were outside and insisted that someone go and bring them in so they wouldn't be bothered. He said he felt blessed to have friends, not only in the business that would do that, but to have friends who would come and wait in the line. What I know was a time for my family and what I know was a hard time for his, it was overwhelming to feel that love from people you may or may not know. Sorry so long. The song just has so much meaning to me.
He also performed this on the Kelly Clarkson show. It was heartbreaking. He had to stop and sob before singing the last line of the song. He says he can't sing it at all his concerts. Sometimes it's just too hard.
That chorus just flattens me. The repetitiousness of the actions is so rawly indicative of deep down soul piercing grief. I don’t know how folks make it through such a loss…especially those that don’t believe in God or Heaven. I’m a Believer and I’m not sure I could survive it! I try to pray for him and his wife. I live in the Nashville area but had never heard of Craig and his music until a few weeks ago. I quit listening to country music in the early 2000’s. So, he’s new to me, too. Good job covering this beautiful but heart wrenching song.❤🥹
His performance on the Grand Ole Opry when he performed this is amazing. You can really see the emotion. Also look at his interview and performance on the Kelly Clarkson Show. He talks about how and why he wrote it. I like the live versions of this song cause it’s raw. I love this song so much. It really helps in grieving and it’s really not for someone that lost a child. I can see it helping those that lost other friends or family. Ricky Skaggs stopped Craig after performing this on the Grand Ole Opry and said how much he loved it. Craig said that he was glad he got to hear it cause that was the only time he was doing and Ricky said no you have to get it out. Craig had also sent this song to Blake Shelton and Blake started tweeting it and getting people to listen to it.
When my youngest son, 12 years old, was killed on 10/25/12, we played Carrie Underwood's song "See You Again" and when my oldest son died of cancer 5/12/21, at age 36, we played this at his funeral. Both songs literally bring me to my knees.
Craig 1st sang this at the Grand Ole Opryland. When he left the stage Ricky Scaggs told him he loved the song. Craig said that's the only time I'm going to sing it. Ricky told him you have to keep singing it because people need it. He has to be a strong man to share this pain and hope with us. Thank you for the reaction.
And upon recording it Blake Shelton helped get it on the radio and Craig also performed this song on the Kelly Clarkson show and he had to stop and cry a little before the last line of the song and it really hits home for me and my family as 10 years and 1 month ago I lost my younger sister my parents lost a daughter she was just 23 and lost her life after surviving cancer but double pneumonia got her and this song really helps me both deal with the pain but also enjoy the time and memories I have with her and to everyone who has lost loved ones you all have my condolences
I saw an interview in which Craig said that he continues to sing this song because it provides comfort to some of his fans. He said that he only performs it occasionally though because it has an emotional toll on him, and he doesn’t always have the strength to handle it.
@Bars % Barbells- Thanks so much for doing this. I love Craig Morgan and this is one of my fav songs. He wrote a book about himself Called God, Family, and Country that Is worth the read. He talks about the loss of his son in this book..
Craig is an Amazing Singer/Songwriter and, An Afghan War Veteran! Correction: per Craig’s interview on Kelly Clarkson Show. Craig woke in the middle of the night with the chorus in his head (crediting the Holy Sprit). He got up, wrote the song and sent it to his best friend, Blake Shelton with the message that he did not intend to record the song. Blake told him…he must. The first performance of this song is from the Grand Ol Opry (should react). As he left the stage, Craig told Ricky Skaggs that he would not perform it again. Because of the love, and demand from his fans. The song was a hit.
Hello how are ya'll. I want say I know exactly what he's going through on May 5th 2009 I walked in to my middle daughters house and found her dead it is the absolute worst thing you can go through. That song hit me hard when it came out because I know if it hadn't been for our faith in God I don't know what my wife and I would have done. I want to let you know I love your channel keep up the good work and God Bless. Jimmie
Thank you Jimmie - hopefully we brought back some good memories of your daughter today. So sorry for your loss - but hoping you gained a guardian angel
When I listen to this song, I think of my parents. I was in the hospital for a year or so having seizures and there was a high possibility that I could have died. I had to get that thing that starts with T put in my throat (I can’t spell it lol), because I stopped breathing when I would have a seizure. But that was over a decade ago and I’m fine now (no more seizures at least).

I lost my two year old granddaughter a year ago in a tragic accident. I cradled my daughter as she held Ryan Grace in her arms. She’d been killed instantly. We had been on our annual camping trip celebrating the life of my ex husband who had been murdered. Ryan Grace had been killed less than a mile from where we spread Ryan Gerald’s ashes. I was so angry at God for yet another tragedy my family was going through. Yes, minute by minute is what it takes to start healing. He says it perfectly about not being completely healed until we’re reunited in heaven.
The live version at the grand ole opry is even more emotional
His performance on the Kelly Clarkson Show is the most emotional version I have seen.
Losing a kid just sucks. The truest line in the song is "I won't completely heal 'til I go home."
It’s an emotional song that has helped many families that have lost children.

Craig recently reenlisted in the National Guard. An American patriot in every sense!
Always brings me to tears...

Craig is one of the good ones. High character describes him perfectly. You should try his song "Almost Home."
I can't listen to this without tears. It's even harder after losing my daughter but, my faith keeps me going.

The live one at the Opry is amazing. But I think the one he did on the Kelly Clarkson show, with Blake showing up, might be even better.
Never been officially confirmed but George Strait's "Baby Blue" was believed to be in honor and memory of his daughter Jenifer.
I saw an interview in which Craig said that he continues to sing this song because it provides comfort to some of his fans. He said that he only performs it occasionally though because it has an emotional toll on him, and he doesn’t always have the strength to handle it.
