I first clicked on this thinking "how the heck is she gonna make sugar cookies in an instant pot?! " 😂😂
Me Toooooo! I was all in!
HA Ha Ha! Now that would be awesome If I could do that!!!!
Me2 LOL
Hailey DeForest omg same 🤦🏼♀️😂
The old fashioned way of beginning is to cream the sugar and butter together before adding eggs. This prevents having lumps of butter. Old fashioned is sometimes the best. :) Occasionally I forget this and follow a recipe that doesn’t begin that way. Then I remember what I should have done.
G C I agree but it’s also for structure, it makes baked goods have a foundation to mix properly. ALWAYS cream together your sugar and butter as the first step.
Sorry but they didn't say how much sugar to add I was wondering if you could help 😅
I use powdered sugar to use on rolling pin and on counter. Cookies don't get dry tasting.
Kathy AKA Dragonfly Smiles
My daughter in law does this as well and I think it so very clever!! Her cookies are the best!!
Great tip !
I’ll have to try this thank you
I would add the vanilla earlier with the other wet ingredients, instead on top of the flour mixture.
Yes, are supposed to! Sometimes when we memorize the recipes to show them to you we forget things!!!!!! ha ha!
Your comment made me not even skip the ads and move on.
Pure vanilla is worth the extra money. It makes everything a million times more delicious than the extract.
I use Watkins’s double strength vanilla! I have found nothing better! It is not pure vanilla either but is expensive yet oh so worth it!!
Bravo .... Real Vanilla is like using Butter instread of margarine.... How would use that anyway !!!
@@kimeverhart6253I used to sell Watkins and I won’t use any other vanilla either! Love the white for meringues and whipping cream.
Use parchment bakeing paper to bake on , once you use parchment you never go back!
I know, SO true! Been doing that for several years now, and it's a real game changer when it comes to cleanup time!
So cute! Of course, I had to order your Christmas book!
Thank you for a happy video! I hope your Christmas traditions/cookbook will inspire some special times with my grandchildren this Christmas!🎄❤️
You two are adorable and I love how you interact with each other. Makes my heart melt... good to see sisters love each other and enjoy each other! I definitely want to make this recipe, sounds like it would be my favorite 💖💖💖 thanks for sharing!
You are so welcome Karen! It is so fun doing videos with sisters! Thanks so much for stopping by!

These cookies look delicious. Thank you for sharing!! 🤠💜💜💜
These look great & sugar cookies are my downfall!!! I LOVE them & could eat a bushel! I have 2 traditions to share with you. We always go to church on Christmas Eve & afterwards we go for a ride to see all of the Christmas lights. Our daughter Kelly (she has Downs Syndrome & is 38 years old, just loves this tradition. It makes Christmas for her. It's so much fun to experience the joy she has in simple things. The other tradition is one I started last year. I had all of my grandkids (there are 4) over to make Christmas ornaments. We made snowmen out of socks filled with rice, & angels out of origami paper. We had such a great time & we will be doing it again this year. We will be making fabric Christmas trees with cinnamon sticks & fabric strips & of course all kinds of doodads to decorate them. After lunch we are making cookies. I can't wait, it will be awesome!!!
Yum! Looks delicious. Thanks. I hope you and your family have a wonderful Thanksgiving.
I've never had a very good homemade sugar cookie so I'll probably try these out!! They look awesome.
I’ve had this cookbook for years! I love it! My favorite recipe in the book is the frozen hot chocolate.
I just ordered your book on Amazon. Can’t wait to get it.
Pure vanilla. Gives punches of extra flavor. Love it
Those cookies are looking so yummy and have me wishing to have some.
yummmmmy Those look just like the ones that I can buy at the local grocery store here in Alabama. They, too, are very soft.
They look so soft and tasty 😘
I buy Loft House cookies like this, I am in love with this recipe!!!! Thanks Ladies for sharing this one :) Happy Thanksgiving!!
This last weekend Dad’s Ultimate Sugar Cookies....err your sugar cookies were a hit with my kids! Thank You 😊
I used to make this all time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Madagascar real vanilla only here! Lol Recipe looks awesome ladies! Tfs!
My Mama's was soft too when she made her cookies! I have her recipes too! My Mama's recipe was a 6 dozen cut out cookies and I didn't know at the time I made them the first time and I doubled her cookies making 12 dozen and it took me all day by myself. The next time I made them I just did the 6 dozen. I gave a lot away when I made the 12 dozen to family and friends for gifts! I love making my mom's cut out Christmas cookies!
Food gifts & anything that is homemade are the very best gifts, because they come from the heart!!
Aww that's so nice..pls share your receipe!!! 😃
😊 someone is in their baking moods 😊 thank you Krista and Kendra for the cookielicious recipe ❤
Happy Baking!! Turn on some Christmas music and bake some sugar cookies!
@@SixSistersStuff 😄 Christmas music goes on after thanksgiving and then Christmas decorations also... tree looking is a week before Christmas eve. And all doesn't get put away until January 6th ( little Christmas, the epiphany) when the wise men went to see the baby Jesus ❤ ☺
I use vanilla extract, always good
Yay!!
I like this change of different recipes. The channel has seemed Instant Pot focused so have mostly used the cookbooks instead of watching videos.
I went to the printed recipe and everything I needed to know was there. TY.
Linda Lawson couldn’t find the sugar there
@@marieparks5674Parks Yes I did. And have the printed recipe that shows it.
Cool that I found you guys! I’m the baby of six sisters. Can’t wait to see what your channel is all about.
Thick is how I like my cookies.
Please advise on the amount of sugar? That was the only amount not shared and it doesn't give amounts in the link, just the ingredients. Thanks for sharing.
3/4 cup of sugar!! So sorry about that!
Where is frosting recipes?
We have sweet potato casserole that’s our tradition xoxox
You finally put out a recipe for soft sugar cookies. Thank you. Powder sugar will keep you from adding more flour
Damn, I was really stoked to learn how to make cookies in the instant pot... XD
Ha Ha Ha! Some Fridays we are starting to share other recipes too! But always Mondays is the Instant Pot! :)
Which side?
Just subbed great video.
Just saw your channel on soft sugar cookies. My grandma made THE BEST soft ones and I used to help her, but no one has the recipe. When we rolled out the dough, it was thick and puffy. We used a sugar coated glass to cut out. They raised up in the middle when cooked. I know sour cream was an ingredient. Any ideas? Had to be from the 50’s. The closest taste to them is Betty Crockers package mix!
I always whip the butter then continue with wet ingredients, flour, salt, powder last. Use a spatula to clear the sides.
My microwave has a soften button for butter or ice cream. It works great.
I do the microwave method but put it to 20% power when softening butter! (since I don't have a button!)
Pure vanilla, allllll the time. I did make vanilla in my instant pot 😉
I can’t take any more Instant Pot🤪 And yes, please bring on the other sisters. Yay
Looks like a lot of work for such a few cookies. Don’t get me wrong, I love your recipes!
Can you add sugar substitute?
what can i use of i don’t have baking powder or baking soda ?
What kind of flour, all purpose? If you use real vanilla should I use less or same amount in your video?
If you use powdered sugar to keep it from sticking it keeps them from being hard.
Could you please add the link for your moms frosting recipe? Thanks! I can’t wait to make these!
The link is in the blog post. www.sixsistersstuff.com/recipe/super-soft-sugar-cookie-recipe/
Just add more or less powdered sugar until you get the consistency you want.
@@SixSistersStuff I also love using almond extract in my frosting!!! Yummmy
Six Sisters' Stuff The recipe for the frosting doesn’t actually seem to be in the blog post. There is a short reference to it but amounts don’t seem to be included.
is there somewhere the recipe can be printed?
We got our first Instant Pot tonight saw this and yelled HEY YOU CAN MAKE SUGAR COOKIES IN IT..... ooops i was wrong still cool video
just fyi three teaspoons is one Tablespoon and I always use a tablespoon Vanilla because I make my own vanilla extract at home with kraken run and vanilla beans.
People that can mix by hand have my respect. I use pure vanilla extract not imitation vanilla. These look amazing. I grew up mormon and these are like the cookies people brought to church activities and ward partys.
Pure vanilla always in baking!
Pure vanilla is the way to go, but I often go with vanilla extract due to my budget!
Salted or unsalted butter?
We used salted
Hi Kendra, Another beautiful sister joins Kristan. Love this recipe. My husband loves the really soft cookies, so will have to make this for him, where I kind of like a bit of crisp to them. Thanks for this recipe. Happy Thanksgiving to all your wonderful sisters and your families. Love all of you. Claudia
Same at our house. My grandma made the best crispy cookies. She used lard but they sure we're tasty.
I am on the extract team because I am heavy handed with it and can't control myself. Lol.
PUREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE VANILLAAAAAAAAAAAAAA> Please!
kelley casey homemade vanilla 😋😋
what type of sugar did you use?
Miss instantpot Monday. Please bring it back
I agree. I always look forward to IP Mondays. They still do those videos also.
Three teaspoons is equal to one tablespoon.
4 tsps in a Tbsp
@@chrystalhenthorne8209 Wrong, 5 ml in one teaspoon and 15 ml in one tablespoon.
@@louisetaylor283 The converter I used online was wrong!! Come to find out an Australian Tablespoon equals 4 Australian teaspoons...who knew.
Another Team player ..YES! Have we met all of the family yet?? I’m number 6 of 8 and I like it when you say what number you are..helps to get to know the family.. for me it does...
I’m sure your mom keeps using the wooden spoon to keep her arms strong for stirring 💪😝.
Question please girls...
What’s the difference between sugar cookies and short bread cookies?? Aren’t they the same but the short bread cookies have more butter in them??? Thank you for your time... 🙏
And will we get to meet your mom?? That would be nice.
You have seen 4 out of the 6! The other's live in Sacramento and LA and they both had babies so you won't see them very soon. We are letting them just be Mom's right now! ha ha! Here is your answer: Sugar cookies are typically sweeter than shortbread cookies, and have a lighter, crisper texture. Like shortbread, they are often elaborately decorated. Shortbread cookies are traditionally made from one part sugar, two parts butter or margarine, and three parts flour
3/4 cup butter
2 eggs
3/4 cup sugar
1 tablespoon vanilla
2 1/2 cups flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 teaspoons baking powder
350 F Degree oven for 8-10 Minutes
Thank you for adding the sugar amount , they left it out and I was really wanting to try them
Pure vanilla all the time
Can u double recipe??
Pure vanilla only in my house 😊
I don't see the link for the frosting
Here is the post that has the frosting recipe. www.sixsistersstuff.com/recipe/super-soft-sugar-cookie-recipe/
How much sugar
How much sugar?
Yes, how much sugar? You didn't say and the amounts aren't listed in the link. Please advise.
3/4 cup! So sorry about that!
These look amazing!! But, I have to learn how to bake gluten free, now. Any clue how to substitute all purpose GF flour for regular AP flour? Same ratios? Thanks!!
Most store-bought gluten-free all-purpose flour mixes are about 1:1 for all-purpose flour, So, if your recipe calls for 2 cups of all-purpose flour, you can substitute 2 cups of the gluten-free flour.
Thanks so much!! So much to learn lol. I’ll give em a try! 😊
How much sugar??
Pure vanilla!!!!
Sugar cookies with chocolate frosting
So far Kendra looks and acts the most like Kristen
Ha Ha HA! She and I have similar mannerisms! Which is funny because we have lived far away from each other for 8 years!
Extract
I love sugar cookies, but I cant have sugar in my diet. Maybe I can use a substitute sugar .
Tell me what area of Utah you're in.
Isn't 3 tsp = to a Tblsp?
Why say 3 tsp of vanilla instead of 1 tbsp? I think there must be a reason...
There is a reason.
So you only get about 5 or 6 biscuits with this mix? Who bakes any less than a dozen biscuits at a time?!
I would at least triple this recipe!
Pure vanilla extract.
I read where vanilla extract withstands heat better. Pure vanilla looses flavor.
how much sugar? You didn't say...looked like 1/2 cup
How much suger was in that bowl ? 🤔
I would tie my hair back 🙋♀️🙋♀️🙋♀️👩🍳👩🍳👩🍳
I don't see the actual recipe on the link. There is a list of ingredients but not the amounts of each. A lot of ads and no actual recipe.
Twice I’ve been told frosting on link below. Went to a bunch of advertising. And this one doesn’t exist below. I must be missing something
I use pure vanilla extract but I make my own. Not hard. Need a couple of vanilla beans and some vodka. Steel the split beans in the vodka for 6 months in a dark space for 6 months. Keep adding beans and vodka to keep it going
I'm trying to follow along with the recipe, however I can't seem to find out how much sugar is added. Does anyone know?
It's 3/4 cup. The link to the printed recipe is above too.
you do know that the 12 days of Christmas are December 25th until January 6th at the Epiphany yes? January 6th is The Epiphany when the wise men Found Jesus in the manger. The song and the season the 12 Days of Christmas begin on Christmas day not 12 days before Christmas Day. I have always had Epiphany dinner when I had family but since my mother just passed away I have no living family members nor close friends.
I had no idea! Thanks so much for sharing! We can adopt you into our family! Hugs! - Kristen
Isn’t this wonderful to know??
Yes, I love this! and I educate peeps on it--they have no idea! Thus the reason I try to keep my tree and manger scene up until January 6th!
In the Scandinavian tradition in our family, the 12 Days of Christmas start December 13 with St. Lucia's Day. We also celebrate Christmas until Epiphany January 6.
How much sugar didn't put in video???
Make your own vanilla at home! Problem. Solved.
We have a friend that makes her own vanilla and it's amazing!!
Just FYI, three teaspoons is equal to ONE tablespoon...
Ladies pull your hair back into ponytails!
Agreed!
First
This isn't about you.
Where's the cookie recipe?
I don't see your mom's frosting link above? Am I being blind? lol
Here is the link to the website that has the frosting recipe. www.sixsistersstuff.com/recipe/super-soft-sugar-cookie-recipe/
Always use the best vanilla you can afford.
Never, ever, use imitation vanilla.
Wish I was married to you
There are two types of liquid vanilla flavorings found in stores and they are BOTH extracts. They are Pure Vanilla Extract and Imitation Vanilla Extract. The pure vanilla is the more expensive one and is made from vanilla bean extracts, ethyl alcohol, and water. The imitation vanilla is made with synthetic vanillin and other flavorings, coloring, and corn syrup. I hope this information clears up that misunderstanding.
This was a good video, but baking is a different beast than cooking. My roommate tried to make these cookies and he had such a hard time, so I watched the video to see maybe why?
1. Say how many sticks of butter instead of cup measurements. Non bakers won't likely known or readily notice the wrapper measurements
2. You didn't mention how much sugar. It's not in the description either.
3. You didn't say how large the eggs were
4. You normally should incorporate the butter/sugar until incorporated. Then add the eggs/vanilla
5. A lot of this resulted in a massive wet slop for my roommate. 2.5 cups of flower was not enough to compensate for the wet ingredients, likely due to the egg sizes. We have extra large eggs normally and following this recipe the dough was way too wet to form into anything. My roommate took 3 hours to figure out what was going on with his cookies.
Overall it's a fine recipe for someone who knows how to bake and how to adjust to compensate, but for a beginner it was a nightmare for him and I think h es scarred from baking for life
