Thank you for this overview that includes socio- cultural commentary on Margaret Bonds' life and works. We study Bonds in my Afras 385 African American music class.
I first became aware of her and her music while working in the early 2000s for the Athaneum Library's innovative music program directed by Judith Oshei. Few resources other than Eileen Southern's Black Music History book and the CBMR website existed about her at that time.
Margaret Bonds' intersectionality as a Black woman performer, composer, and mentor in the 20th century is a rich area of research for exploration by 21st music historians who as they continue to unearth and analyze her creative contributions.

That's her music in the background? ... REALLY creative ... you explained it well, the blending of styles. Clever but also convincing: sounds obvious that this SHOULD be the end result.
