Florida leaders urge residents to follow evacuation orders ahead of Hurricane Milton's landfall

- As Milton tracks toward Florida, thousands are urgently making the move to evacuate. According to the National Hurricane Center’s Live Hurricane Tracker, Milton will make landfall on the west coast of Florida late Wednesday. It’s expected to be a Category 3 storm, which have winds of 111-129 mph (180-210 kph), when it hits the shore in the Tampa Bay region, which has not endured a head-on hit by a major hurricane in more than a century. Governor DeSantis and other state & local officials are warning residents in the path of the storm, to get out of the way.

You better have family or a caregiver to navigate this, look what happened to the nursing homes. The police will knock on doors to give evacuation orders in some counties if you're lucky, if not they won't (maybe can't get to you due to "weather" or destroyed roads) you better have a plan B for loved ones.

How do homeless and disabled get out?
School buildings and fema buildings and homeless shelters
The Red Cross and local agencies set up evacuation centers wherever you are. They usually interface with the Humane Society for animal evacuation. Been through this a few times, myself. People think they have to PAY to stay somewhere but that's not the case, those are the people most at risk who stay behind for that reason.

Floridians, who have been through hurricanes and the damage it causes and the lives lost, should know to evacuate! They were warned about these storms, not only for days, but for many, many years. Maybe a flight plan......... JMHO
Born and raised in Florida over 54 years. You honestly don't know what you're saying. I'm in Sarasota now, NOT in an evacuation zone but, close to one. However, we can't leave because we don't have enough gas to get far enough away. If we need to, we will go to a local school but, it's probably not much safer. They have been engineering our weather for YEAR'S NOW, that's why we have storms like these now! And they blame it on climate change, what a F-ing joke they are

How can they leave the traffics Rediculous and the gas stations along the route have no gas!
Take your pets and their food! And take some gas with you! You just KNOW you'll be stuck in traffic and/or gas lines will be astronomical!
EVs will be a huge problem in this--running out of charge in standing traffic and catching fire in salt water sprays.

Check on your neighbors and family if they are elderly or in need of help to evacuate. Not every one is able to easily evacuate when they have mobility issues and worse conditions that require tube feedings, ventilators, etc.
We ain’t goin anywhere. Tampa, you can leave, not so great. But it looks like death here in south east Florida. I have my loved ones with me, and whiskey of course

Have yourself and your home prepared if you must stay. Have a "go" bag if you must leave, and a plan for yourself and your animals. You must do this year round when you live in the path of disaster.

The government is not helping these people. FEMA is stopping aid on purpose in Asheville and some of the other outlying areas of North Carolina because of the lithium that’s there black rock is trying to buy up all this property just like they did to the Maui citizens in Lahaina! So voting is extremely important! And now I’m just listening to a podcast about how the Democrats are trying to set up for overseas voters without having to prove that their US citizens!
