That picture will be stuck in my head for the rest of my life:( I loved the videos here so much, but I wasn’t prepared for living fish stuck on a stick and cooked alive (I assume without being able to watch till the end)..

How incredible that the inn is so well maintained and has been kept by one family for 19 generations! You can tell how much love and pride they have for it with how the owner wanted to give you a tour when there was an opportunity.

Lovely ryokan. Your videos are always so serene and calming. Also, THANK YOU for the live fish being cooked warning before you showed them on the screen.
hey I just wanted to say that I love your videos so much! they are always so calm and interesting, I love Japanese culture so much and your vids always seem to put me at ease. :)
Oh my goodness!!! I really loved the stunning place with surrounded by extraordinary nature, far away from the capital city of Tokyo. Excellent video 😊😍
Finally, I always wanted to ask you to do other room tour aside of the one you guys staying in , I hope you can do it again in another video. Keep up the great work. Sending love from Indonesia 😊
Thanks for sharing this video 🎉! It’s a very nice peaceful place for visiting. The price includes dinner and breakfast for 2 person that is very good! .
Fantastic video and such a cool location, I love all your videos but something about ryokans surrounded by nature gets me so chilled out. They are the best!
Ruined it for me too. Unnecessary suffering caused. Until that point it reminded me of a buddhist temple video. Except they only eat vegetarian food. As it should be.
Seeing that plum sake reminded me of a dumb thing I did years ago. Back when I lived in Canada, I took my mother to a Japanese restaurant. At one point I ordered a bottle of sake because I never tried it before, and I was curious. Well, what I didn't do was check the price of said bottle of sake, which ended up being $40, which *then* bumped the bill up from a $40 dollar meal to an $80 meal. Edit: Also, as gruesome as it is seeing live fish cooked that way, I also thought it was kinda fascinating since I've seen fish prepared that way in anime, but I assumed they were dead when cooked 🤔
The Ryokan is very beautiful and the landscape is so relaxing. Felt sorry for the fish though. I just hope it already suffocated before it was served & it was just the nerves still moving. Dead fish‘s nerves can move quite long. But that’s why I‘m a vegetarian because I feel sorry for animals suffering. People who eat meat need to be aware that pigs, cows etc. are suffering too for food. Or the fish is suffering too when people go fishing. However I couldn’t watch a fish moving while roasting.
Can you stop whining? It feels like people shouldn't eat meat, people still eat oysters and mollusks alive, and shrimp and lobsters are cooked alive too, so don't be a hypocrite. In any case, the fish does not feel pain
Don't forget the slaughterhouses and the dairy industry, where the cattle stand in cages, the suffering that is not seen does not bother anyone. You should rather protest against the multinational corporate chains, they distribute suffering in bulk, but because they have a lot of money, they pay for flattering ads and teams of specialists to defend everything. 🤔
How hard would it have been to just kill them quick. Bring them in alive so the guest can see they’re fresh and then quickly kill them. Easy. No torture involved.
At least, there is a human being here with a conscience, heart and empathy. I don't even know how anyone gets pleasure or happiness from eating such crap, it seems disgusting and I would even question my humanity.
I'm not "shocked" by the fish thing, because I grew up in New England and oysters/crabs/lobsters are boiled alive, so it's not a Japanese culture thing, for those thinking that. I certainly could never bring myself to boil things alive - there are equally plenty of Japanese who wouldn't roast fish alive either. I do eat meat though, so I certainly have no high horse to ride on. Paul McCartney always said if abattoires had windows, we'd all be vegetarian, and he's probably right. Just be careful implying things about Japanese people or culture as a whole, please.
Wow! What an extraordinary experience! The boar hot pot looks delightfully scrumptious! And I didn't know the entire yamane trout can be eaten (I always picked at the bone)! Will eat the whole fish next time🤭
Please don't forget to like and share, if you enjoyed the video! Thank you so much☺✨
Japan are your video bee translation title so weird, re-established established region ? 🤔 Maybe I'm see things 😅
The preparation of one of the live animals (fish) was outrageous, in my opinion, and in many countries this is considered animal cruelty.
That picture will be stuck in my head for the rest of my life:(

19th generation! It blows my mind that this family has dedicated themselves to this beautiful inn for that long!
You are from this family. That’s amazing ❤

What a kind man. Living in such a traditional house and using a drone, the best of the old and the new in Japan.
After impaling some trout alive and simmering them for an hour.

That place is absolutely gorgeous! Imagine the history it has seen.
Perfect timing for me to watch before bed. Your videos are always so calming.

What a beautiful place. The tatamis are perfect, and the wood everywhere there is outstanding. Thanks very much.
Wow! So close to Tokyo and like another planet! You had the place to yourselves, so near the biggest city. Wonderful and authentic experience.
It's so nice to have the entire rRYOKn to yourselves!
Thanks for sharing this video about the Kabutoya Ryokan!
It truly is a Hidden Gem...I love how it has been run by 19 generations. Just Wow!
Such a great tour. Thank you for sharing this nostalgic experience.

Thank you so much for these wonderful videos. You bring me so much peace and joy. Thank you.

I love your videos, they are so relaxing and informative.
Very-very nice and interesting for us.Thank you 👏👏👏
Great content as always. I love it. Thanks. 👍👍👍😍😍😍

I draw the line at live animals cooked in front of me. Other than that it was truly an amazing ryokan. So serene!😊
Yeah, that's something i don't want to see and can't understand why to torture this poor animal...just kill and eat it... 😞
Ruined it for me too. Unnecessary suffering caused. Until that point it reminded me of a buddhist temple video. Except they only eat vegetarian food. As it should be.
I love how this inn has no TV, it makes you relax even more!
Thank you for making such a beautiful video

Are they not? I thought it just moves as like different parts expand or shrink when heat-prepped because they're on a stick and not flat...
The fish were alive while skewered and cooked.

Good morning,
beautiful your holy day, but no beautiful to see fish that suffer.
Lovely video. The outskirts of Tokyo definitely never get enough attention and publicity. So much to do in the North West Tokyo area.
That is a *nice* place. Love how they balanced modern (bathroom) with tradition. I can't imagine the annual costs to keep that place going.
😊👍☕ thanks for sharing your vlog

Amazing, that this traditional roof is very similar to those in Northern Germany at the Baltic and North Sea coast old farm houses.
