Had a casual 20 minute conversation with a stranger standing around one day at Teterboro airport when I was a corporate pilot. Tour bus pulls up to the FBO and the guy says “good talking to you” and hops on the bus. I asked the workers who was that guy was after the bus drove away. They told me his name was Bono. Really pleasant fellow. We just shot the shit about life in general.
Was working in a workshop for a few months (temp) and ended up working with this mechanical engineer from Ireland for a couple of weeks. Got chatting about music and stuff , told him I just bought u2s greatest hits . Thought it was a really good album . I then said "one Ireland greatest exports eh" . He looked at me with genuine confusion and said "who?". I laughed and said something like "bono and the gang , you know U2, the rock group". His reply was " never heard of them". Thought he was winding me up . Kept at him for a few hours "you really haven't heard of them!". Turns out he was telling the truth , he genuinely had never heard of them . This was maybe 6-7 years ago and the bloke was only in his early mid 20s.
Well, I definitely knew who Bono was before but I never had been to a U2 concert although I would have loved to. When I crossed paths with him that day, I just didn’t realize who he was while we were chatting. After they told me it was Bono, then I instantly could recognize him. It just didn’t click when we were chatting. My job had me constantly around celebs and movers and shakers so I was never one to look for them, unless I was supposed to fly them somewhere. But I think the thing I was trying to say is that the guy acted so normal and casual and he seemed like an every day guy, so he was easy to talk to. Maybe it was a breath of fresh air for him to not have someone fawning over him.
The only magic they've performed is convincing the world of 2 things: they are original musicians and they are altruistic. They sing the Devil's song and that's nothing to be proud of.
That's the problem, they are flaming, bloody hypocrites. I would not cross the street to see them. I don't care for their music but their faux altruism sickens me.
I saw them this tour at Giants stadium, it was the most people they ever had in that stadium at one time. Couldn’t hear half of the concert with everyone singing along but it was great. Muse opened for them too which was a bonus.
Yeah I was at that one. We flew from the UK to see it. And muse supporting was a great bonus. Quite a year that year. I saw u2 in new York Paris London.
If Muse is the opening act then you know the main act is one of the top bands of all time. I've seen Muse perform live and it was one of the best concerts I have ever attended.
I remember seeing one of their very first live gigs on a clip when they were about 17 or something . They've come a long way and they make it look so easy
I remember that strut in the beginning. That made them even bigger stars in that moment. So calm, just walking out to 10’s of thousands of people like it’s nuthn
Exactly. Some other dumbass in the comments said it was a nonchalant entrance but other than that it was cool. I was like, bro, that's exactly what made it cool!
I remember thinking how are they going to appear on stage? You could see that there was no secret “tunnel” that was possible. Were they under the stage the entire time the stadium slowly filled up? Nah can’t see them doing that. Then they simply strut their way in. I loved it
Saw them in the SUPERDOME for the Joshua Tree tour. It was the GOAT. that place was packed to the rafters. Bono & Boyz had us in the palms of their hands. Nearly 75K humans and it was perfect. Been a fan since 1982. And this was on my bucket list. So happy I got to see for myself and it was beyond anything I've ever seen before💋💞💋

I'm not going to lie, I went to one show after 360, it wasn't the same. They're not the same. That JT 2017 Tour being in stadiums and playing the old stuff looked like it came the closest, but they still seemed forced, not quite like this, their last big hurrah.
