The last ident is what I recall all those years ago - it's the best little jingle of this collection by far, and so very memorable. The thing is, every time I hear it, I half expect Star Soccer to arrive on my screen just seconds later. Happy days :-)
Exactly! In my case, it's Sapphire & Steel, while others have referred to this as "the Crossroads logo". It had a way of welding itself to the following intro in your memory!
I love this! Especially the colour one that comes in around 1:03. I've been talking to people just now about RGB vs CMYK and a friend remembered the ATV ident with the RGB Venn diagram coming together on screen. Brilliant to see it here in sharp new shape! Thanks++ Gavin.
Brilliant, brilliant, brilliant. Great recreations of what is possibly the most iconic TV logo in British broadcasting history - and that includes the BBC's efforts. So lucky for me to have them serving the Midlands on ITV's behalf. Just a shame that there was never an ident when they were originally called Associated Broadcasting Company.
It'll be 40 years off the air on New Year's Eve 2021. There was absolutely no need for us to lose the name ATV just the useless IBA trying to justify themselves. We weren't served any better when it became Central. Anyway it's all history now.
I remember it appearing on the BBC once! It was in something like "The Goodies". It was some pastiche on the poem "the pied piper of Hamelin", in which two lines are something like [something something] open wide and they crossed over to the other side and as the words "the other side" were said, the ATV logo appeared! I think it was the last one (known as "Zoom" in the industry). (Anyone else remember the episode?) (People referred to ITV as "the other side" - along with the expression "turn over" - I think because of turret tuners, where the BBC and ITV channels tended to be roughly opposite on a rotary clunky-control.)
Did ATV have a London franchise, news to me thought BUT with TMes waa the first along with LWT at weekends although I remember reading there was something throughout the week prior to that, never seen an ATV ident for that period though 🤔
ATV London Sats and Suns, Associated Rediffusion, later Rediffusion London Mon-Fri.. ATV was broadcasting in London for about five months prior to the Midlands region (shared with ABC who provided Sat and Sun programmes) beginning service.

Star Soccer, a proper blast from the past (top theme tune too)! 👍

@@robertcomer2767 NO. IT NEEDS TO COME BACK
It was a huge loss when Central replaced ATV and the famous ident and jingle.

I love in colour!!!
And spelt the proper UK way, of course! [Though I gather they had a U-less version for export.]
Sapphire and steel
It's a shame that graphic designer rushed the first logo from ABC to ATV and completely cocked the dimensions up
