Wow old school clip! Pure Heart was one of the main reasons I even picked up the ukulele. This song was the reason to hold on to it. It just didn't get any better than this trio. Jon, Jake, and Lopaka were one of the best 3 piece acoustic bands in that era. I'll always be a Pure Heart fan.
I saw Jake perform live once, and that was with Pure Heart when I was in elementary school. I took a field trip to Aloha Stadium with my class and other elementary schools. They played this one song (I forgot what it was called) but it showed off his mad uke skills and it got me hooked from that day on. *Random Note* Iolani's bleachers (all folded up liked that) looks like Pearl City's one when it's all folded up
That was fuckin' insane. if only the video quality was better. Jake must have been using some sort of distortion or effects of some sort. can anyone tell me what kind of effects he was using?
actually i think was either peter moon or ohta san(sr.) when make this song back in the day. but this version on rendition is real old school for me. these guys were amazing.
In 1997 we were at Ala Moana Park, for the 4th of July. Was going to barbeque some teri chicken but forgot my lighter fluid. So went to Ala Moana Center, across the street to get some. I walked out onto the 2nd floor parking lot and stumbled upon Pure Heart giving a free concert. This the exact performance i witnessed (and will never forget!)
