@@myrongaines5542 unless you get the non electronic heater and seats and seat mechanism then you have less problems but you will still have broken sensors causing the car to have hissyfits and the abs that's also a problem you can't prevent
This man has a lot of patience, I would've abandoned my vehicle at a time like this and called in for air support to lift the damn thing out of such a mess.
Land Rover builds these extreme machines for a reason. Many people require this type of capability to do their job at times and in times of natural disaster or extreme weather, I want to be driving one of these and NOT a Prius!
from a Rubicon owner Hats off great job. the best Land Rover challenge I have seen. You need to get more of your friends off of the Mall parking lots. :)
Good vehicles if you maintain them, Land Rover says if you use these vehicles off road on a regular basis you have to do full maintenance every month. In the case of these idiots I suspect they wont, just drive it into the ground.
+mark duncan I wouldn't worry. Its a British video and in the conditions there vehicles don't last much more that 10 years anyways. That car is from the mid 90's (I can tell by the number plate) and will be considered near the end of its life. Despite its looks that thing will be full of rust underneath and you can see one of the front wings has rusted off at the bottom and around the rear wheel arch and would not pass an annual inspection (required to drive a car on the road legally) most likely. People tend to throw cars away virtually when they are considered beyond economical repair. That thing would not be worth much more that a couple of thousand US even before it went into the pit.
Just come across this video now, iv recently had a series 1 Land Rover Discovery from 93 purchased for me by my father and were looking at going down to Mouldsworth Quarry one day at some point in 2018 (maybe even next month if available), for now were gonna be sticking to places around the Liverpool area (where we come from) as unsure on the reliability of the Landy at present as it's now almost 25yo and it has been a good while since it was last used offroad (prev owner of it was formerly a Liverpool Land Rover club member and it's even been used in Ireland), but do you know of any good locations to go to around the North West for off-roading like this.
I've got a 1998 discovery as my offroad/trip vehicle and believe me it has some power this thing ofcourse as my daily car a have a bmw 523i 2014 cause the discovery is just too thirsty for fuel but well it's awesome for offroading with that 3.9L V8i and some extra twitches here and there by me ;) but this thing is just a beast but I only have one problem sometimes i can't shift it to diff lock can someone tell me how to fix it?
If you don't use it regularly they get stiff. Be forceful. Spend 1/2 an hour one day just shifting it back and forth and it will loosen up. Use it regularly. I had the same issue with my 95 disco but it came good
Ive a 300 Tdi, but I avoid places like this because I dont want to ruin it. Im off road all the time, but never wading this deep in mud. I have no holes or rust and want to keep her that way!
+Harrison Stone the exhaust pipe is pointed downwards, even without the engine on, water wouldn't enter anyways, it'll just be like blowing air into a drink through a straw
He kept the revs up because hes such a thick animal its the only way he knows how to get it out the swamp hes driven into, then again the brainless halfwit shouldnt have tried it to begin with. Its got wheels for a reason, its a Land Rover not a Sea Rover.
Actually 4wd's where originally built for farmers and those that lived in rural areas with poor roads. They can stand alot more punishment and go alot more places than an ordinary car but they are not invincilble. These idiots have ruined this vehicle, would you want to buy it.
Ruined? They have mostly all of the interior replaced, I believe they can clean it with ease, and then it would be as good as always. Water entering your car is ruining it? Oh, come on man
Man!! Absolutely and definetly Inspirational!!! F**king Crazy too ... lol i did the same once ... ok ... twice ... It takes a lot of trouble to clean the mess after ...lolololololol
What a goose. Terrified the kid in the back. Ripped the front quarter panel off. Damaged the rear guard. No mechanical sympathy. No effin idea at all. Certainly did not tread lightly and achieved nothing but giving real 4wd owners a bad name.
I'd suggest that nobody else watching this is quite as upset as you are. It's the man's car he can do what he likes with it without needing to worry about your opinion on the matter.
+Manjo they don't do this to get from point A to point B, they do this for fun. Deliberately getting into situations to challenge the car and themselves.
Only the best 4by4byfar can go out in that deep mud. Glorious LR
My congrats for so impecable driving.
I love the way just when you think, "oh he's seen sense and is backing out" he slams it back into forward and has another go! :)

Good job! All electrical stuff inside is wet now. Land Rovers and electrical problems do not mix.
This is a disco 1, the disco 2 has all that electronic crap

You came up loaded with water.. Amazing machine and awesome Driving Techniques!

While the engine is still running, and the wheels are still turning, NEVER give up! There's always hope!

Only ever driven on Sunday, by one careful owner.
Right lol

Land Rover. The world's greatest 4x4xfar.

testimony to how good these wagons really are.
I love land rover discovery , which have good feature and the car so beautiful ,when land rover is on hand there will be no difficult in driving

This is an incredible vecheile. The deep water and mud hasn't killed the engine and all those other parts.

Hi there, I really enjoyed your video, I am putting together an off road compilation of the Discovery, and wondered if you would like to be included?

Kobie Dixon only one owner 😂
This is just heart rendering to watch!!! Somebody has too much money!!!! I would never subject a vehicle to that treatment!!!!

What? That's how they sold them off the lot in Oz. Wouldn't be a Landie without rust and holes and muddy carpet.
At this point isn't the engine just getting flooded? I don't see where the air would be getting in from
The car has a snorkel fitted to the A-pillar. It draws the air in from the top and feeds it directly through to the engine.
Ian Milner So where does the exhaust exit? just into the water?
+Harrison Stone yup, that's partly why he kept the revs up, to stop the water flooding back up the exhaust.
+Harrison Stone the exhaust pipe is pointed downwards, even without the engine on, water wouldn't enter anyways, it'll just be like blowing air into a drink through a straw

Why? What a goofy way to treat your perfectly good Land Rover.
Because that's what they are built for. That's why.
+Hectorious2 moderate offroad obstacles, not half of the car in a mud pool
superb
