    You said, "Subconsciously we are all masters of proportion." I hadn't thought about it in those words, but I immediately thought, "That's absolutely correct. Otherwise we would not be able to recognize each other when we meet!"
    Brilliant observation that is glaringly obvious when you think about it! :-)

      Yup! If you see someone with a disproportionately large finger it sticks out like a sore thumb lol

    Thank you so much, Alphonso. I get overwhelmed by trying to draw the figure, but it's so much fun to play with this simplified figure and put him/her in little stories. Instead of being discouraged by what I can't do (yet), I feel energized by how much I can say with this little person.

    Once again, breaking things down so that they're manageable and easier; thank you again. I've been struggling since last night to make a figure in motion look right, with no real success. I think I may get it now using this method. Either way, you've inspired me go try again. Peace, brother.

    I've been a subscriber of yours for years and this is one of the BEST tutorials EVER. I just did a few quick sketches that I NEVER could have done before, based on the way you broke this down and the way you describe the center lines and cylinders... Man! This was GREAT! I'm going to try this with drawing animals. That said, I LOVE your pen / line work. You're the real deal my friend, an artist extraordinaire. And a very gifted teacher. Thanks for these videos. Really. Thanks.

    Thank you so much for this! Your tips are super-helpful. I'm watching and re-watching all of them (most recently this and your mannequin video), practicing with a Sharpie pen along the way. It's making a big difference in my comfort level with figures!

  • @amysamin
    @amysamin 7 лет назад +1

    This was so helpful! I tried to draw along with you, but I am sure I will need to play the video over and over, and practice on my own for quite some time, before I can attempt the kinds of complex figures you drew at the end. If I can manage standing and sitting to start with, I'll be happy, lol. Many thanks for this fantastic, clear lesson.

    I like your video as always, but I would like to offer you a bit of advice. If you can, try to make your videos 10 minutes long. Obviously dont stretch them out unnecessarily if you think you will run out of content. But RUclips is promoting videos around that long, as well as viewer engagement and retention. I think you could benefit a lot from this.
