People are finally talking about Acid Bath
Kinda hard to when Rotten Records claims any video with their music on it.
Its not just me that searches for acid bath stuff on youtube atleast once a week?
@Sol Astus I hope you're not an adult over the age of 20 saying things like 'poser' and 'You are not metal.'. Not only does it sound like something a high schooler says about a kid in class during lunch period, it's lame and pretentious gatekeeping. I image you can suck the fun right out of a room.
@Sol Astus if you’re saying that any new metal fan is just a poser because they’re new and shouldn’t be allowed to like metal because of your subjective opinion of what “a real metal head is” you’re a disgrace to the genre and can go kick rocks.
@Sol Astus I’m glad you have some sense
Subject matter aside, these guys had something special, some amazing riffs and songs, tempo changes throughout songs. I still like both albums they released to this day.
all vin and sori care about is lyrics tho as usual
@@DethThrasher1 Acid Bath lyrics can be pretty full on to some people though
I love Dax's lyrics tbh. They capture Louisiana so well. Remind me of Southern Gothic shit.
In my little shit hole town. We love Acidbath.
@Sol Astus and his solo albums are also great
LOVE Acid Bath! Unappreciated band ahead of their time.
💯
WAY ahead of their time.
Yeah, like Saint Vitus in the 80's, when glam rock and thrash metal dominated the charts.
The lyrics to Bleed me an Ocean are perhaps the most family-friendly in their whole catalogue, lol
Lol!
lolol!
never will be another band like them. I describe Acid Bath to people as "Imagine Jim Morrison mad as fuck at the world, and took over singing for Black Sabbath immediately after Ozzy's departure, and became heavily influenced by King Crimson."
Dax, and Audie(RIP), were poets in the extreme sense of the word, and Dax still is, throughout all of his other projects. Acid Bath is one of those bands that never leaves my musical rotation, just because they were so far ahead of their time, and they still are.
Oh totally, I think the singer was possessed by Jim Morrison so he could write new shit. I'm convinced the greats keep coming back.
Try Agents of Oblivion which was Dax Riggs band after Acid Bath broke up
You'd be amazed by which mainstream bands these guys have influenced. I went to the family values tour in Houston years back to see Korn, deftones , and stone sour. Stone sour was doing an autograph signing and my buddy was wearing his Agents of Oblivion tshirt. We got to Corey Taylor and he noticed the shirt and mentioned how much he loved Dax and acid bath. Even told us he was trying to work on something with Dax but we've never heard anything come of that. I believe their influence runs deep in the metal community.
Fun fact…Some of Slipknots first shows were them opening for Acid Bath.
Acid Bath are the band that helped me get through the darkest of times. Still my no1. RIP Audie.
Sammy's band Goatwhore are well worth a listen, as is the work he did with Crowbar.
I’m a HUGE, Acid Bath fan. They brought this psychedelic, Ziggy Stardust influence into the Louisiana sound. Acid Bath were from Houma, Louisiana, and they captured a sound that was way different from most bands in New Orleans. But they were into drugs. So I wouldn’t try to get inside Dax’s head as far as his lyrical content ! He has some poems and writings that are waaaaaay more graphic then this. I promise you he wasn’t in a plane when he wrote that! It’s fucking drugs, dude. Drugs are part of the fabric of creativity down there. Check out his solo work. It’s far more mellow than Acid Bath. It’s excellent.
Right on!! You couldn't have explained it much better than that, Hell Yeah!!!! ACID BATH are my all time favorite band as I loved everything they did & I even went & got there band name tattooed on me from off the kite album for my love, loyalty & respect I have for this band always. Yes you are correct Dax took a completely different direction after first making a short lived one album & a tour for the band he created with Mike Sanchez called Agents of Oblivion (also a real good offering in my humble opinion) before doing his solo mainstay which is definitely awesome.
Bruh. Acid Bath was the best unknown metal band of our time. Hail Satan and let Acid Bath take you on a musical journey through the swamps of Louisiana.
@@ericmccarty1020 also my favourite!!! got bleed me an ocean tattooed on my belly last week
Yea man 👊👊👊 love all his solo shit ### we only sing of blood or love💥💥💥💥💥
I'd say there are 3 key elements to Dax lyrics in Ab. Drugs , death and occultism. I feel like he's often talking about our reality as a prison. Maybe hints of the wheel of reincarnation.
"Scream of the Butterfly." It's an unusual little ballad-type thing Acid Bath did, and I would LURRVE to hear you good folk discuss it.
THIS. Would love to hear their take.
That, more than any other song, is what I would love to see them take on.
Me being from New Orleans... Acid Bath are one of the most underrated BANDS EVER!!!! Dax and the boys are awesome folks and his voice is phenomenal!!!
Just discovered them. It’s like the first time I heard Slipknot!! Love it!!
@@jamesadams6626yeah man I grew up with them....being from the New Orleans area we had them, Soilent Green, Infant Slug, Crowbar, EyeHateGod, Down, Arson anthem, Viking Crown, all of Phil Anselmos projects...u name it. Good ole Southern Sludge
@@emmurewashburn definitely heard of crowbar and Down. But. Acid Bath for me going down road just a hair under 90 😎🔥. This band is great I needed something different . I enjoy Stuck. Mojo For solutions southern Metal. Along with my all time favorite Not sure genre name
@@jamesadams6626 theres a band called Ten56...check them out ...u will NOT be disappointed bro ..Stuck Mojo rocks too bro 🤘🏼🤘🏼
@@emmurewashburn thanks. I will 🙏😎
Possibly my fave Metal band. So glad they're on Spotify now.
I'm here before rotten takes it down
Rotten put their stuff on spotify sooo maybe they changed?
Oh wow I didn't know they. Hopefully you're right
Rotten records can suck it..
They’ve done a few acid bath songs before
😆😂🤣
Btw... the artwork is a painting by Dr. Jack Kevorkian, the pathologist who assisted in patients who wanted to commit suicide
Is this for real? I'm going to have to research. I found this album in a thrift store years ago and fell in love with this band. But the album cover always fucked me up. That's an interesting piece of information. Had no idea.
@@flippertheslid3642 Yes that is accurate and true! Their first album (When the kite string pops) cover was done by John Wayne Gacy
Yeah
@@bjquebedeaux3597 I had no idea , I grew up listening to both of these c.ds. I love ab!! But that's super cool .
@@flippertheslid3642 cd or vinyl? If it's a first pressing LP its pretty much worth it
Damn, Sammy is a riff machine
I think I read somewhere that quite a few of their riffs were written by mike
@@swinaecologist9610 yeah I read that too, he also wrote most of the riffs on Agents of Oblivion and the first Deadboy & The Elephantmen album
@@Malum09 I didn’t know Mike had anything to do with Deadboy. He had a guitarist that worked at a music shop in Thibodeaux when I started seeing them play.
Acid Bath is one of the BEST bands ever...period. Now do "Scream of the Butterfly", "Venus Blue", "Graveflower" or "The Bones of Baby Dolls"....or “Dead Girl” to change it up.
Diab Soule
I feel like this girl wants to “scale the prison walls” sometimes. This is one of the best songs by one of the best bands ever, don’t be ashamed, and don’t change your beliefs for anybody!
Acid Bath are incredible. Thanks for covering this band again! Also, check out Deadboy & the Elephantmen (also a Dax Riggs band).
Don't forget agents of oblivion. Aside from acid bath that was favorite dax project
@@justincarnes8341 Absolutely. And for more mellow vibes just good ol Dax Riggs band
Came here to say agents of Oblivion. Dax is an amazing person and songwriter! And this song is def not about abortion, right? Haha
PLEASE do more Acid Bath. Such a fantastic band. There is a slight resurgence of their popularity in the like the past year. I don't know how but they deserve it. So much love and respect for this band.
So Dax Riggs, the lead singer of acid bath, had some pretty great much more spiritual and personal solo music following the breakup of acid bath I would love for you guys to take on some of his solo projects
Song With No Name
Demon tied to a chair
Trying to analyze his lyrics line by line or even word by word is like, analyzing a Monet painting with a microscope. It's just going to be a jumbled mess that you can't understand. You have to step back and take the piece in as a whole to really get a grasp of it. You know how in the 60's, there was all of these hippies that would go on these existential poetic rants that made no sense to anyone sober, but if you were so strung out on drugs that the walls moved and you saw dragons swimming in your carpet it all brought the universe together? Take that, add in a heavy obsession with death, and you get Dax.
At every show he would do this spoken word thing right before he came on. Usually the band was already on stage making feedback noises while he went on with whatever hastly scribbled poem he was working on at the time. It was always something different and it always seemed very random, but I'm sure it made sense to him.
Yep 👍
lmao Kanye Twitty. I wish your pfp was bigger lol
Well said.
My ex was in a band that had the honor of opening for AcidBath at this cool little dive bar in Panama City called Mescalito's. I had the pleasure of hanging out with them after a couple of their shows. Audi was so sweet. I asked Dax why he always held on to his package when he's singing.....that's where the notes come from (to put it in a PG rating)😁🤣
Being from Nola it’s nice to see the boys finally getting the attention they deserved. RIP Audie
Graveflower is a great Acid song
Guys. You're listening with 2020 ears. You're seeing the preface to the novel. Go back to "The Blue". You have to understand the conceptual lyrics. It's one big novel.
This was a perfect album on its own, in my opinion.
That tells the story of the reptilians emerging and eating every one when they rapture. Hence Ariels
One of the most underrated bands of the era
This will get pulled pretty quick. Acid Bath released 2 studio albums. Both are spectacular from start to finish. Disturbing? Depends on what disturbs you. No other band will touch on as many ridiculous genres with as much success.
I love , love, love them 🕯 Such a great underrated band. I'll take the dark content ALL DAY, let the blackness roll on! 🖤
Unless you have listened to Acid Bath while tripping, you simply cannot fathom how badass their music truly is.
Best mistake of my life. Badass? Not sure I would call it that. Reformative. Yes. Sliced my mind. Ripped the blue right out of the sky when I realized that I was being sucked up whole.
Sounds pretty good with vodka as well
Dax said in one of their live performances that its about the continuing circle we all live in. So im guessing its about mother earth and all that shit that goes on inside her
Best thing about their music is it has no era it's timeless in it's style, could come out at any point and be relevant
So glad you guys were able to find an Acid Bath song, and one of the best ones at that! They're hard to come by because of the stingy record label. One of my favorite metal bands.
Yesssss. My favorite band from the 90s. Glad Sori really enjoyed the rough edges around the composition. I would lov for you guys to cover either Venus Blue Or Scream Of The Butterfly.
Acid Bath were just so unique and ahead of their time. Beyond twisted imagery but present if a very sophisticated and disciplined way. Keep up the good work!
NO WAY!! My favorite song of all time that no one talks about. Dax Riggs was I believe 22 in 1996, he wrote this song prior though
DAX Riggs was born in 1976 I believe and I was 21 in 99 and was born in 78 so he has a few years on me although both our birthdays are in early October
One of my favorite songs. Flashback to my skateboarding days back in 1995. Saw them in Zepplins.
the crazy part about it is that Acid Bath have, are, and will always be my favorite band that ever existed and I also had a baby in 1996 that had to be vacuum extracted to save his life. I was 17 and had already been in labor for over 20 hours, the first half, not feeling the contractions, but in labor nonetheless. i was given oxytocin hours before to get the pain to start. the nurse had told me, "If you aren't in pain, it dont count." wtf. but yes. they eventually came in like the task force because my babys heart beat started dropping because the long labor was weakening him. im not sure why they didnt take me into surgery for an emergency c section but they did the vacuum thing, sucked him out, and he is 26 years old today and the best kid ever. he had a big bump on his head for about two weeks that we just had to cover with all the little baby hats. and to the girl in this video saying she would do the c section before the vacuum- i wasnt given an option or choice. they just came in and did it. and probably since i didnt have a clue what was going on anyway, it wasnt any worse than the pain and act of giving birth itself.. just two more seconds in the whole torture session. (i didnt take any pain meds either..Dumb) before or after. btw, t Baths singer Dax was 26 around the year 2000 so i guess only 22 when that song was recorded and yalls opinion is yalls opinion but his influences were not who you all figured. nowhere near the grunge scene. he listened to Townes Van Zandt, Elvis, Leonard Cohen.. folks like that. i really think it is Elvis more than anything that i feel like i hear. ok guys. thanks for letting me be able to hear the song in its entirety. that part where it says " and old blossom dies, like a young man bleeds..the insects hum with their hunger and greed" kicks off the most jamming part of any song ever. hands down.
Love Acid Bath! Their career was definitely cut short. I was hoping when y'all did Toubabo Koomi that yall would do easier to digest songs like this one, Scream of the Butterfly, or Graveflower.
Really cool to see the actual studio audio to this song reacted. And its really cool to see a reaction channel discover this band and give them some attention.
My personal favorite Acid Bath song has always been Scream of the Butterfly. I highly recommend it and would love a reaction video.
Acid bath is one of the most underrated and under appropriated bands in the metal genre. They should have been so much bigger and due to their label their music is getting buried and unheard hurting the chance of gaining newer fans and make it harder for older fans to find their stuff.
It's basically a suction cup, with a handle, they used it on my first born, they didn't ask, the baby was stuck, because my wife's pelvis is tilted and the baby couldn't pass through, so the Dr used it in an emergency situation.
Yes, it was used on my first born too, my wife lost consciousness during the labor.
After decades, nothing compares. Lierally. Open your mind and relax to this. Try listening to All the songs, they get deleted fast. There are so many great albums by Acid Bath.
First time hearing them and they definitely sound dope af, kind of have the Dark Metal/Hard Alternative Rock feel of the 90s, lots of depth , lots of layers and deep feelings in this song. If you don’t feel it maybe you just don’t have that dark side to relate it to.
Holy sh¡t- Acid Bath!!!!
Love you guys!!!!!!
Acid Bath is one of the best bands ever, this is an amazing song. You guys should react to Alice In Chains- God Am.
That song had so many different riffs in one song. It’s hard for people to understand how great that song really is…
Acid Bath🍻🍻
Love acid bath. Was a big part of my life
"Sucked into the vacuum of this universal tomb"
I think he's just talking about existence....the universe itself...the vacuum of space and it's ultimately the tomb of us all. We're both born and die in it.
"It was over before you were born."
We're all predestined to die. Death is a foregone conclusion and returning to the infinite void of non-existence.
You definitely should have started with the first album "when the kite string pops". I love this band so damn much and hope that more people will discover the perfection that is Acid bath.
Thank you for doing acid bath. Don't fuss too much over the lyrics...focus on the song as a whole. If you listen to these guys a few times, you'll be hooked. Venus Blue by this same band please...
One of my all time favorites, heavy in the early 90’s and killed it live.
Cassie eats cockroaches? Locusts spawning?
Oh man, one of my fav songs.
Dax is a king in his own right. Ty for some of the best times of my life.
Haha that was my favorite ab song.
Shit that's indeed
Yaaaassss!
This song vibes though, Sori got it...

Standing 8 feet from the stage at Mitchell’s Music Hall in Kenner Louisiana….hearing this for the first time was rad. All my friends that went with me are now dead. My arms got goosebumps then and now.
Daxs first child was stillborn due to a self given "clothes hanger abortion" type situation and if you listen to almost EVERY song on when the kite string pops you'll get the whole abortion vibe...scream of the butterfly for instance "something cold is forced inside, a tear spills Down her cheek, stillborn songs of the dead dreamer , hymns of the needle freak"
Drugs man. Drugs = good music lol
This is one of the first 5 or 6 songs I learned how to play on guitar. Simple riffs... I could never handle Dax Rigs vox tho, you may not hear it in this but he grew up a church boy who sang in the choir and got this weird almost unmatchable eeriness out of that time harmonizing. Deadboy and the elphantmen is another of his bands if you ever want to follow up on that.
I went the elephant route years ago and it was whack. Like everywhere and then some!!! Lol crazy shit for sure
Crowbar - to build a mountain
Probably easier and quicker with an excavator and bobcat
great song
He he he has talent. He was 15 years old when he wrote all the acid bath lyrics. I know because he told me in person.
If you wonder who did the backing vocals and breakdown vocals - it's guitarist Sammy Duet
You're reading into the lyrics to much. This came out in 96. They were in their mid to late 20's. It's just cool abstract lyrics. Dax writes mostly unorthodox lyrics like that.
Amazing. Such a great song band and album.
Such a great band. Love them.
This song has had such a profound impact on my life beyond what anyone could understand. It's like my paradigm, and it's unfortunate I'm the only one who will have that experience with this song. I'll spare the details of what that experience entails though
I'm interested..
The first extreme metal album I ever owned!
Yep it's mindblowingly good
If you like acid bath check out SHRUM it's a band with Audie in it they use no guitars but two distorted bass guitars it's low heavy and metallic and apocalyptic heavy futuristic deathroom trip through a forest consuming a metropolis
I thought I was the only one...which means you are as lost as I...not sure if this is a good thing or not.
@@christopherrichey9137 My lost has turned into a glorious finding, my friend, I understand entirely, you know what it is
Seen them several times in the 90s. Grew up just across the LA border. Great music from this area
I remember all the young wanna be rockers hanging at the daiquiri shop in 1990 with small live bands. I saw TONIGHT ACID BATH and I said, they are trying too hard then after being human dealing with life 2022 LOVE IT
Wow!! You've done Acid Bath AND Nick Cave, y'all are getting into some awesome obscure stuff that's dear to my core. Keep it up!!! You guys rock!
Sup soul buddy
14:32 - Sori's expressions during Vin's commentary are priceless lol
Acidbath. God machine heavy. Scream of the butterfly mellow
Aw hell nah those faces at 1:45 LMAO. Acid Bath isn't for everyone, I'm glad I don't have to gatekeep
React to Paegan Love Song too.. Best opener ever
Thank you for doing this song!
Please do Dr Suess is dead from the album When the kite string pops!
Dr. Seuss*
Finger paintings of the insane 😊
Let’s gooooo….
I freaking love acid bath.
Attempted to watch an Acid bath concert in Baton Rouge but the police raided it
This music is not for one timers, ie today's, it's for people with a deeper understanding
This is hilarious! The commentary.
a word to always remember, meniscus.
I hope this music lures Vin and Sori towards the Left Hand Path. Amen.
Dax Riggs always intended his lyrics to be vague. He's a private person and I don't think he wanted his thoughts to be accessible.
I will say I've always felt this song was about feeling numb and needing someone or something to give them their energy to escape "Bleed me an ocean" or "give me more" so that the "blackness" can roll on. "Teach me how to die" being a reference to self or the ego, he wants to learn to kill this side of him; "teardrop born to fall-scale these prison walls" again I've felt like the hardest part of ego death is allowing yourself to fall so that you can be free. Comfort is security. It's been hard for me to kill my bad habits for a better life because I grew comfortable in them and it's what I know.
Also; the albumartwork is "He is risen" a painting regarding how Christian's took the celebration of fertility and sex and took those symbols to represent Jesus somehow; this album is Paegan Terrorism Tactics so I've always felt this vague theme in all of their albums being loosely tied into sexual liberation. The metaphors and allusions are hazy to me since aim not familiar with pagan mythology; but the themes of "mother" and "Venus Blue" sound like reference to earth, and I've felt like this album was more or less Dax trying to lose this controlled restricted life, entering the chaos that he was hidden from and losing himself, and eventually finding peace by embracing his surroundings. The album "ends" with the theme brutal track about killing all idols and that was him removing the idea others are above him since he is one with the world; and the album officially ends with "Dead girl" which I felt was Dax finally being able to be himself.
He wasn't happy with Acid Bath and didn't even want to record PTT. Dead Girl was the first time we really got to see Dax sing over acoustic and that's what he did for a while when he went solo
Awesome sounds and lyrics
Y'all definitely should check out some of Dax solo work. It's rock and his lyrics aren't nearly as disgusting and dark but still a bit grim. His next band was Agents of Oblivian with on of the Acid Bath guitarists in it. A good song from them is Phantom Green. Next was Dead Boy and the Elephant Men. Evil Friend is a great song from them. Eventually he just played under his name Dax Riggs. Check out Waking up Insane.
This is the soundtrack to all our nightmares.
Love Dax, but I think we're all here by choice.
Acid Bath was the greatest underground bands of all time !
Dont take the lyrics literally, they have a way deeper meaning . You must listen to all their albums, and follow Dax Riggs to his other bands, "Afents of oblivion " and original "Deadboy and the Elephantmen " album (if this is hell then I'm lucky)
They wont disappoint !
Well I can always watch this just to hear acidbath \m/ LMAO
I knew it would come.
More Acid Bath please.
It's about time they talk about acid bath lol and yeah dax is a grate lyricist I have to say one of the best in my opinion
Grave Flower is my favorite and should have been reviewed
You guys need to also do some GoatWhore reactions. The guitar player for Acid Baths present band. Not like acid bath but still great.
Yay Acid Bath is the shit.
One of the best bands, terrible what happened with them, seen them 2 times in Detroit, nothing like them
Props to whomever got these guys on Acid Bath! Checkout Agents of Oblivion - Ends Mouth
These guys are a rough listen at first...but if you don't give up, it's like, oh holy shit, this is really good.
