- FIRST LOOK: The Colorado is all new and has 5 different trims from Chevy for 2023. Slotting in right under the ZR2 is the Trail Boss. On the outside you will get a lift, unique wheels and grill. On the inside there is a revised interior with large infotainment system. Under the hood is a 2.7L turbocharged engine mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission. Is the 2023 Chevrolet Colorado Trail Boss a better truck than a Ranger Tremor?

Black is the best color because it makes any car look good and it hides the age so your car ages well. Even an old KIA in black looks respectable lol White is nice but as your car gets older it brings out the outdated look
This Colorado Trail Boss means business in black. Headlights and front turn/park signals should be LED. The wide front fenders give an aggressive look and the interior is really sharp. Chevy did a great job redesigning the truck. Thanks Joe and Lori for all your hard work!👍👍

You don’t want led lights on an off road truck unless you don’t mind paying to have them replaced if you break them off road
Little correction for ya Joe, the pricing has been released, and the Trail Boss is actually the 2nd lowest trim level -- the interior is actually based on the WT hence all the hard black plastic, single climate control, lack of heated seats, etc. The Trail Boss is however the 2nd from the top in terms of off road capability.

Price: WT, LT, TB, Z71, ZR2
Off road: WT, LT, Z71, TB, ZR2
Interior: WT, TB, LT, Z71, ZR2
Power: WT, LT, TB/Z71, ZR2 -- that said can option the zr2's high output calibration on most of the trim levels apart from the WT

Big Zonks on lighting. This is just my opinion, but LED technology has become cheap enough, small enough and so efficient that no modern vehicle should be using incandescent lighting, or at the very least, that style of older lighting should only be on Base or WT level trims.
Anything above bottom trim should be all LED. Headlights, DRL, Turn Signals, Brake Lights and Reverse Lights should be LED. The fact that car makers can get away with charging what they do on new vehicles and still use old technology is wack.

Some people prefer halogen over LED. The light isn't as hard on the eyes. I have LED in my Sierra and I honestly wish they were halogen. Halogen also heats up so ice/snow melts off. LED is not as great as you think.
The Maverick comes with LED headlights for $22,000.. lol

I totally agree with you. I would gladly give away that big screens for LED headlights. I'm a firm believer that being able to see thr road you could avoid lots of accidents. Also, headlights is one of the few things I rather go OEM than aftermarket since I always had issues with aftermarket.
@start the rapture I bet is those who would still like a carburetor. If that was the case, that luxury brand would still be using old tech
I don't understand why they are not stretching the cab by a few inches, 2" or 3" to make that back seat a bit more comfortable or spacious. Every truck in this class the back seats are too tight, the worst one being Tacoma, when you sit in the back seat your knees are in your chest. A few inches will not make it that big that they might be worried it will steal sales from Silverado.
As a Ford guy, I would definitely drive this truck! Love it. It's a Toss up between the ranger.
This is way better looking and with the Zr2 you will have lockers which ford doesn’t offer

@@Tiovergudo Ford has optional electronic locking rear locker even on the lowest XL trim ($420) of rangers and if you want front locker you will have the ranger raptor as an option. The other trim levels of chevy only have the automatic locker which in my opinion is not as good as user activated electronic locker. In snow the auto locker tends to lock up and swing the rear end out on you. Fine if you are prepared for it but if wifey is driving it can be a problem. With the ford you only lock the rear when you need it. Ford also will have the 2.7 v6 which also has a pretty good reputation and sounds better. However ford dropped the ball with no rear seat ac/heat vents. Also with how things have been going there may be big delays on actually getting new rangers and chevy may scoop up more customers who not willing to wait.
The Trail Boss trim looks sick. Loved it.

I love the looks of this truck but that little turbo engine is going to really have to be impressive for me to pull the trigger on what I know is going to be an expensive truck!

Well considering the Ranger only comes with the 2.3t and the Tacoma is expected to be coming with the 2.4t. This 2.7t is going to be the largest turbo 4 in the segment. The Frontier still comes with a V6 and is probably going to be the only one.
Ford only uses a 4 and toyota sells alot in the Tacoma 🤔
But that little turbo has been proven for 4 years in the Silverado without any issues

I like the black a lot . Looks good. At 38k starting price point it’s best off road that has 4x4 . I like sliver badging actually too much black can be overdone .

I'm really surprised they didn't add more lighting such as fog lights or even in the bed lighting. Wish the rear storage was designed better.
Like the Camaro-like grill and agree on the plastic fake lower corner bumper intakes.
Lots of grey/black plastic parts in and out to fade in the near future especially if you really use it as a truck.

I totally get the headlight argument but there’s something about the non LED lights that make it look more rugged. The LEDs on the higher trim are too thin looking.

These vehicles get better and better looking every year🤔 going 1 year with my Durango and loving it ,watching your show made get this Durango and it looks like I'll be getting a Hellcat but I need at least nothing less than 16 mpgs with premium ⛽️ if not I would want a 6.2 Tahoe or GMC Yukon Denali again nothing less than 16 MPG
Seems like a good deal considering it's a decent off road 4wd for a little under$40k. That's assuming they aren't marked up. Am I right in thinking this is the one midsize truck that would work for tall people. 6'6"? The lack of heated seats and having hard plastic in the interior isn't an issue for me. Being big enough and how it performs are what matter to me.

This one in black looks good at the front end . Other colours not in trail boss edition. Zr2 is gorgeous.

So is it better than a Ranger Tremor , I reckon only time will tell unless someone out there has driven and compared them both. I lean towards the Ranger Tremor because it has already proven it's reliability and hard to beat that smooth ride over a washboard dirt road. You do get a nice 11.3 in. display with the Trail Boss and the wider stance and factory lift are also big pluses. Will be interested to hear other opinions on the comparison as I will be getting one or the other within the next 6-9 months. As usual that was a nice short review Raiti .

The air dam on the front bumper being a fake isn't always them cheaping out. Sometimes i think they just don't want air going in there and creating weird drag. That's my guess!
They did a great job on the looks. Wish other makes came close.

It’s weird that the second from the top has less luxury then the lower tier Z1.

LT has nicer finishing touches but not the off-road features the Trail Boss has.
Looking for crew cab with 6' bed. Will be in market soon. Ranger is coming out with this trim level. How about it GM?

Great job, Joe and Lori. Love you guys. I actually think I'd go Z71 over the trail boss. The Trail Boss is cooler on the exterior. But the Z71 looks a little more comfortable for my everyday vehicle.

Looks great on the outside, head unit and steering wheel look great. But omg! I can’t get over the HARD PLASTIC! I love chevy but man that damn hard plastic just kills it. Looks so cheap. Then again this trim is on the lower side. Great video

@Sterling not is not. Not on the trail boss. It's an upgrade on the LT. But you can still swap it out for LED aftermarket for the trail boss. Just not an upgrade.

The wheels are the same as the standard z71. The difference is they are painted black.
Was checking out the Colorado , but Chevy makes you pay a bunch extra for simple items that should be standard. A Silverado 1500 will give you a much better bang for your buck. Midsize trucks just cost to much now !
Yeah, don't want a bigger truck. And don't want to pay 10-15k for stuff i don't need. My trail boss I built is 39.8k. You can keep that bang of the 1500.

Nice Chevrolet Colorado I think this is the apostle to the Pickup trucks and I feel that those fake vents look good as to a plain old boring black corner.
Every single time I've looked at one of these since 2015 they cost way more then the silverado as far as leasing and there has never been any incentives on the midsized truck. It was a no brainer to bail on the midsized and go full only I went full on a Ford for half the payment. It makes no sense to me why the pricing is so backwards on these.
I'll never get over the fact there's no headlight switch. Burying it into the screen is such a huge miss imo.
Especially when the screen takes a shit and you can't drive it at night lol.

They make off market parts if you don't like all that plastic and be honest. I'm going to be investing. In some seat covers with the chevrolet logo as well as some nice chevrolet mats to make my nice 2023 black trail boss pop
Joe, you need to start zonking that ancient reflector-style headlight housing. It is completely unacceptable in pickup trucks for the last 10 years it blinds everyone driving

Is there a Colorado Denver edition? You know, seat covers for the dog, high-powered air purifier to get rid of the smell of weed, and automatic rain sensor that slows the truck down to 30mph anytime it starts sprinkling
Good looking truck however now that I'm older the creature comforts are top priority. With that said no heated seats, no heated steering wheel no power sliding rear window all available on some of the competition. I still am tempted I'll just have to relocate to Florida better order flotation tires. Ha Ha. thank you!

I really like the look of the trail boss but for the price of the truck to put in a freakin plastic dash is not right. Makes sense to go with the canyon at4 which is like a luxury trail boss and the biweekly payments are only around $50 more.

Looks decent but they saved money on the worst spots. This thing is going to certainly be very expensive but that steering wheel and door panel are things you interact with every time and they made them out of cheap materials. As far as cleaning, sure, it will be easy but 90% of these will never see anything more offroad than a gravel driveway.
Exterior looks great! But like a lot of other American builds, the interior is boring and looks cheap. Compare it to the new Toyota TRD Pro which looks a lot better in my opinion. Still a nice-looking mid-size truck overall.

The maverick is now considered a compact truck. They're pretty much the size of the 1st Colorado. The 2nd model was considerably larger. The 3rd is essentially the same. But the maverick is compact.
