      @@blcheah2672,
To be true, the first few times when I first started visiting China about 2 decades ago, I must say China was also like that. A lot of beggars & pickpocketers. There was once a little girl (the most about 5 years old) under the instruction from her handlers a close distance away, held on my right leg tightly refusing to let go so as to force me to buy her flower. If she was on her own, I wouldn't mind paying her even though her flowers were not cheap. One local elderly guy saw the whole situation & came over to gently pull her arms away. He then told me I couldn't do it on my own as her handlers who were close by watching would took the opportunity to say I bullied the little kid & then would forced me to pay a hefty sum to settle.
NB: It's good to see the Chinese & country have now advanced greatly.

India on the other hand has proven that they don’t think ahead just like the usa never has a long term plan. Building a massive over budget building and leaving it to rot is a shame to nature and human intelligence itself.

Both are very similar in some ways. Both were post-colonial impoverished dysfunctional nations until Globalization. Both have massive numbers of people who, as soon as possible, migrated to Western countries. Both have an advantage of massive populations and more importantly 'demographics' aka working age people (China's came and went a little sooner) so they can sell gigantic amounts of cheap labor for Big Global economy. Both are kept relatively stable by US Military enforcement of global trade.
India has 1.4 Billion people over a large landmass and China has 1 Billion.
Both are entrenched in Eastern religions (similar, shared, common religious worldviews)
Both have been rising into modern '1st world' economies at breakneck speeds. India just a bit later and still has its 'golden growth' coming for the next 15 years.
China is now finished its golden fast growth phase and will end over 15 years.
more obviously, both share a border and China has 300 Wolf Warrior Commandos who get beat up by 200 Indian regular guards.
both have massive 'GDP' which in itself doesn't say much but both Indian and China have around the same GDP 'per person' that fluctuates around the 100th of 200 countries. both are in that zone of a south American nation, a Vietnam, a Ukraine sort of poverty level.
Both have similar sized military and both have (allegedly) nuclear weapons.
Both Indian and China share another similarity in that despite being relatively poor nations on average, there will be stunning gaps between the absurdly wealthy and then stunning dirt-eating poverty of many.
however, the two 'rising giants' (huge populations) of the East do have very different political and social systems.

The truth is that China is the greatest country on the face of the earth. It makes all other countries look insignificant and contemptible. It is the most brilliant, most industrious, most ambitious, most educated, meritocratic and technocratic, most modern, sophisticated, and civilised, and best-governed by far. .
It is the first non-white, non-Western country to reach this status since the 1600s. The determination of this country is indescribable. Supernatural. There is no force that can stop it from accomplishing anything it wants to do.
It doesn’t matter who we are. Egyptians, Syrians, Pakistanis, Indians, Africans, even Americans. Next to the Chinese, we are pathetic. We can’t do what they do. We would have a mountain, an Everest of changes to make, and we would whine and bicker and fail at every one of them. China’s story since the 1980s has been one of an almost divine metamorphosis.
Next to China the entire Western world from Alaska to New Zealand has stagnated. Next to China the entire developing world from Brazil to Madagascar has progressed only at a crawl.
China is the mother of all gargantuan bullet trains. Every day it manages to create something new and astonishing. And unlike the United States, unlike the British Empire, unlike the French, Dutch, Germans, Spanish, Portuguese or any other Western nation that had its turn at being a superpower in the past four centuries, China doesn’t need to run anybody over or take something from somebody else, to rise majestically.
China is also standing up to the West all by herself. The West can’t believe their four-hundred-year-old global supremacy is being challenged. They hoped that the more China developed, the more it would submit to their influence, interests, and leadership. That didn’t happen. So now they will do anything possible, short of a nuclear war, to make China end.
Their goal is to destroy this country. That’s why, although the United States has killed several million people and turned several regions of the earth into hellscapes.
China is the worst fear of our planet’s Western masters. They want you to despise and dread a country that’s done nothing to you, that hasn’t invaded anyone, bombed or sanctioned anyone, that hasn’t overthrown any foreign government, or used its military on anything since 1979.
China is the only major country in the nonwhite developing world, to stand up to the West. To look it in the eye when challenged or threatened.
The Global South are simply Western puppets who submitted long ago. Even the most powerful ones. Saudi Arabia, Brazil, India.
The 1500s-1000s BC were Egypt’s time. Antiquity belonged to the Greeks and Romans. The 1700s belonged to France, and the 1800s to Britain. From 1945 to the present, the world has been under American overlordship. And they call it the Pax Americana but there isn’t much Pax in it.
There’s plenty of Pax if you’re in Europe or Australia. But the Middle East? Afghanistan, Iraq, Libya, Syria, Iran and Yemen in the past 20 years. Latin America? They’ve destroyed that part of the world beyond any hope of recovery. Africa? It’s only been spared because of disinterest. The US sees Africa as nothing. The whole West does.
But in the twenty-first century, we are witnessing the rise of China. We are decades away from China becoming the greatest power on earth. This will be China’s time, and there’s nothing anyone can do about it. Attack China all you want, curse her and monger rumours and hysteria - but the truth is that none of your accusations are backed up by evidence. The Western press is under the thumb of Western governments that want to stay on top of the world for eternity. And the truth is that China is not affected by the noise and maneuvers of her enemies.
For her first thirty years, from 1949 to 1979, China was basically blockaded and isolated economically and politically by the West. It didn’t even have a seat in the UN General Assembly. And it was dirt-poor in those days, barely a speck of the global economy, a tiny fraction of Japan’s or Germany’s GDP - not even able to prevent famine. And it still didn’t submit to pressure or take any orders. Why on earth would it do that now?
China will be the next global power. There’s nothing that can be done about that. The first stage is that its economy only needs to grow at 4.7 percent per year to become the world’s largest by 2035. That means the usual, historical bare-minimum of 6 percent is already overkill. The US can build as many bases as it wants, slap as many sanctions as it wants, recognise whatever bogus genocides it wants. That’s what it’s been doing all along. Has any of it made a difference? China can adapt to any situation. It took China a mere ten years to go from being barred by the US Congress from participating in the “International” Space Station, to building its own Space Station from zero.

@0:20, Many Olympic host countries, including USA, build sport-dedicated structures with very short service life - as cheap as possible and as fast as possible. Consequently, these sport facilities do not survive the test of time. The Olympic sport structures in USA that escaped the demolition derby are either refurbished antiquated ones having historical value or annexed by a needy public institution with the necessary resources. Most structures were in such poor condition after several years of wear-and-tear , and the extraordinary maintenance cost to remedy the marginal or questionable construction that the economic equation justify their demolition. USA has hosted the most Olympic events. Ironically, only very few Olympic structures survived. The local municipality could only salvage a few sport structures due to quality construction issues. In contrast, China has built Olympic facilities that endures the test of time; many are still in use consistent with in their primary sport mission. The ‘Bird Nest’, the ‘Water Cube’, and many others are still faithfully serving their sport missions.

We Chinese are indeed proud of our long history. In thousands of years of history, our country has become a great country several times, and our ancestors have set an example for us, so we do not feel that our achievements is satisfying. We will not regard India as an opponent. In fact, our only opponent is our former self. Of course, the advanced technology, science, art and culture of the United States and Western Europe are also examples for us to learn from. Westerners may think that China poses a threat similar to that of the Soviet Union or Nazi Germany, but in fact we are not particularly interested in pursuing military hegemony. What we hope to build is a country that is advanced in science, technology, economy, culture and art. The military power only provides a safe external environment for us to develop these. Of course, I am just a student and my opinions are limited, just forgive me.

There's no such thing as maintenance in India. and not much if any long term planning and no good execution of their own plans even if they do manage to get a long term project off the ground. For every infrastructure project, 50% of the total cost itself it is spent on bribes to the governor, mayor, transport minister, police chief, and so on and so forth. Everyone needs to get their cut.. so in the end they have no money for the actual project itself, let alone maintenance in the long term after the project is finished. There's no money to be made on maintenancez so who cares. Better to let it crumble and build another new one in the future if needed, since then they can get another 50% bribe!
Unfortunately for India, they don't have a minister for maintenance that they can bribe. lol. India is a corrupt country and a house or cards. One strong wind and things will get ugly really really quickly. Hopefully India can work out it's massive internal corruption and other problems before that happens but I don't see any sign of that happening anytime soon.. if ever.

Don't judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree. India is undeniably the spiritual superpower which has exported its spiritual philosophy to the world including all of China. China exports materials, India exports philosophy. Come back China when you have contributed to Indian society the way India has contributed to Chinese society and philosophy through Buddhism. Beat that in a few hundred years (or, lets say in a thousand) and then China will be in an intellectually similar position to be able to stand anywhere close to India.

You can not compare one party country with other 2 country with opposition...India and usa faces hurdles in every infrastructure project due to opposition... In india any party in power only for 5 years...in 5 years you can build a world class projects... In china one party rule... You can build big projects without any opposition.

Thank you for the compliment, it makes me blush.

By the way in China there are no such things like: Mao Zedong stadium, Hu Jintao Hospital, Deng Xiaoping Airport. I remember in 1994 b4 HK handover to China, a brainwashed tour guide said he was afraid that the Communists will rename Victoria Park to Mao Park.

    1) London olympic was the first time people having to pay to see the 5ring.
2 “Bird’s nest” was kinda weird look and name for a building, for me.
And then I went there. I saw thousands of bird’s nests all over the locale. There must have one nest every two or three trees.
    Now I know.

I was at the park in 2017 and was impressed with they had done after the Olympics. Lots of citizens were walking, running, exercising, singing, dancing and enjoying the venue. Glad to see the municipal government has kept up the park for the enjoyment of its citizens. In a way, this park reminds me of Central Park in NYC.
