    For some background info, the snows were rich because they owned most of the nuclear and military facilities in district 13, but when district 13 was destroyed they lost everything. District 2, where Sejanus is from ended up taking over weapons manufacturing which is how Sejanus’s dad got so rich. Throughout the book it’s clear that Coryo cares for Sejanus, but his care is overshadowed by his jealousy and belief that Sejanus (who he sees as ungrateful) is living the life that he was supposed to live instead. Thanks so much for reacting!! I was so excited when I saw the upload and as usual, you didn’t disappoint 😌🤍

      honestly I am conflicted myself on Sejanus he clearly cares for the district people but only cause he used to be one the probably is he just whines the only action he ever took ended up making his 'bestie' kill someone leading to his taste for blood I find Sejanus well intentionedbut annoying cause hejust causes trouble rather than try to make things better as young Snow did sure adult Snow was a monster but w/o him the games would have been really bad for decades more if they even continue BUT not continuing wouldn't make the kids never be at risk they's probably just telivised the reaping then execute the child right there (probably not the Effie but the localhead peacekeeper)

    This is my second favorite after Catching Fire. Snow seems like a good guy but if you pay attention all of his actions are for himself. He's a perfect Narcissist.

    Watching this movie makes you see the other movies scenes so different. Like in Catching Fire, when they are having the talks before the tour and he tells Katnis, "DON'T LIE" . Like wow, no wonder. The ending of this movie with Lucy makes that so clear! And why he always questions her love for Peeta

  • @Icycold21
    @Icycold21 5 месяцев назад +34

    Snow is a very complex charcter. His actions appear “good” but in the end every decision he makes is for his own good. Ratting out Sejanus and helping a Lucy Gray win was all for his survival and status in this world.

    • @MajorReacts
      @MajorReacts  5 месяцев назад +5

      Yes I totally agree

    • @stephaniehickey4103
      @stephaniehickey4103 5 месяцев назад +4

      I think Snow is even more complex than that. I think he helped Lucy Gray because he genuinely loved her. (Not that he knew or understood how to love selflessly and didn’t ultimately love himself more) he truly was taking a risk after seeing what Dr. Gaul did to someone just for lying about an assignment. I think he turned on Lucy Gray yes for power, but also because he couldn’t trust her. In the book he was constantly poisoned against her. His grandmother saying she’s far from a girl and Dean Highbottom said something similar. Her ex Billy Taupe saying something like She played me she’s gonna play you. And reading the book I got the impression that he was always fighting against liking Sejanus, doing things and then thinking, Why am I being nice to this kid-he’s district. And Sejanus did put him in a no-win situation. Snow wasn’t lying when he said, I can’t hear this. They will hang me just for knowing you. And Snow genuinely thought that his family‘s money could get Sejanus a prison sentence, but save him from a rope. It’s hard to convey in the movie, but Snow was really traumatized by the war as a child. That’s why he has such an obsession with control and lives in constant fear of being powerless and buries any emotion within him as soon as it comes up. He comments that his mother wasn’t strong enough to survive this world. And says that he didn’t have a lot of love for his father, but he always felt protected. And it was embracing the coldness and cruel nature of his father that kept him alive. He even says in the book that when he gets to be president, he knows he’s going to be called a tyrant and cruel, but he’ll maintain order and prevent a real war from breaking out. He really converted to Dr. Gaul’s belief that cruelty would ensure humanity’s survival.

    Sejanus Plinth you would’ve loved Katniss and Peeta but alas you lived 64 years too early 😔
    My boy was just 18, too rich, too impulsive, too idealistic and naive and didn’t really know what to do with his dad’s money, which… When I think of myself at 18, kind of makes sense. I wouldn’t be thinking logically on how to plan a rebellion at that age
    I think the fact that Coriolanus ends up as we know winning and ruling for 60+ years makes this movie so bitter.
    The unfortunate thing is, he was a narcissist with too much ambition, in an ideal world, Sejanus and Lucy Gray and their love for him would’ve been able to change Snow, but it’s not an ideal world and Snow doesn’t think anything is wrong with him if anything, he feels he’s owed the Plinth’s fortune and all of the districts unwavering and flinching loyalty

    Many people speculate whether or not Lucy Gray lived on or not, but the author left it that way on purpose. There’s something so powerful about her being a person who will always haunt Snow. Not only through the mockingjays but in everything that she stood for. In the books Snow says he will never love again so that he will never be hurt the way Lucy Gray hurt him. Whether she lived or not, she stayed alive in his mind. He could’ve had love with her but he chose power, and I think when everything with Katniss went down it probably triggered his pain. The mockingjay. The goodness that Katniss stood for. Lucy Gray … what a character. I just love how poetic it is. She would have loved what Katniss accomplished.

    • @lovelacy23x
      @lovelacy23x 5 месяцев назад +1

      As soon as Snow realized he could dispose of guns that would prove his guilt, and he realized Lucy Gray would never forgive him for getting Sejanus killed, I think that’s when he made his decision. He said nah … a life up north isn’t worth what he could do. Too loyal to the capital. Too cynical and biased to ever care about goodness or the districts.

    The way the weapons look here are more like the are how I envisioned them to look when I read the first Hunger Games book, way before the movies. Crude and makeshift, not chrome and tactical. I love how it's a blend of irony, humor, and poetic justice that it was a girl from District 12 who molded Snow into what he became, and it was another girl from District 12 who would be his undoing. I would like to see another book about the 25th Hunger Game, but done in a way where we have more than one person to root for. Make a lot them more fleshed instead of just a few important characters while the rest are just one-dimensional paper people.

    honestly as a kid snow whether or not it was for himself he did help future tributes by getting them treated more like HUMANS they now get fed good and trained before the games now just thrown in a monkey section at the zoo until the arena is ready & i think he grew to care for Lucy but it was mostly cause he found her attractive and saw the possibility of a future with her sure the kids still have to fight to the death but he lets the public get to know them so they will send them items GRANTED it's hardly fair cause district 12 inless they have a SUPER interesting person for the capitol to care about their own people couldn't afford to send an empty bottle for gathering water like katniss had in the 74th games and her own people DIDN'T send that it was in a bag she grabbed at the cornacopia

    I am Team Tyrion too! He antagonizes Snow through all of this, which is petty and odd for an adult to beef with a teen (even if his dad was a jerk) but I chose to believe it’s because he saw something evil in Snow, probably the same evil he failed to see in Snow’s Dad. And I don’t think he was wrong given what Snow becomes. Highbottom hated Snow before it was cool.
    I'm going to answer some of your questions.
    1. The Snow Family was rich from investing in defense companies but all their facilities were in District 13, which suceeded from Panem and thus they lost their money and had no source of income. This Snow's Father (Crassus) was a General in the war, possibly the general and he was killed. This Snow was born thinking he deserved the high life and and he choses that over Lucy Gray and Sejanus.
    Lucy Gray did not poison Jessup. He contracted rabies from the bat bite on his neck. Though she does poison some other tributes.
    Snow is "heir to the Plinth fortune" because the parents believe he was "like a brother" to Sejanus, so they adopted him. They don't know he is the one who snitched on Sejanus.
    I read the book and did not like him in the beginning. I thought he was arrogant. But it wasn't like he was a "monster". People contain multitudes. If he had chosen Sejanus and Lucy Gray then maybe he could've been a good person. But he made his decision to pick power over love. The book does not say if Lucy Gray is dead or alive. The implication is that she haunts him for the rest of his life. ("Mysteries have a way of driving people mad.")

    Very much made me think of :
    The phrase "Kobayashi Maru" has entered the popular lexicon as a reference to a no-win scenario. The term is also sometimes used to invoke Kirk's decision to "change the conditions of the test."

    There's a lot of fan theories about Lucy Gray, including a few that she returned to District 12 under another name and became Katniss's paternal grandmother, or that she either became or was the mother of President Alma Coin from District 13. There aren't any theories that fit very well, and Suzanne Collins isn't talking, so we may never really know, and that's the point. Even if her story ends there, she already planted the seeds of Snow's downfall. Her music, such as the Hanging Tree song, would go on to inspire a rebellion, and her influence is clearly seen in Katniss's mannerisms and love of music. As for Snow, he was forever ruined by their mutual betrayal and could never love again. That became his downfall at the end; he couldn't imagine that love could be stronger than hate, and Katniss's love, first for her sister, then for Peeta, and finally for her people, drove her into the Hunger Games and to a rebellion that brought Snow down.

    I still have to finish the book, but I love this film. It's hard to produce a good prequel and going into it I thought the movie was going to suck, but boy did Francis Lawrence & Suzanne Collins surprise me! All of the cast did an amazing job but Tom Blyth as Snow just stole the screen. Snow's descent to the dictator we know he becomes could've been more organic and the plot was rushed but overall I was really impressed.

    Obviously Snow is terrible but with the recording I think he thought she would get the dad to buy his way out of 12, I don’t think he thought that was Ganna get him hung
    Also I dunno I think it’s left up to us to determine but I think Lucy was not running past, I think he was hallucinating from the snake venom, but he definitely is scared his whole life that she’ll come back and expose him, his whole life that’s why they brought up going mad and make even more a point when he said “ it’s the things we love most that destroy us “ he told Katniss that cus he spent that whole 60 something years worried Lucy was Ganna expose him

      I honestly don’t think he would’ve eventually gotten the reins of the family money until his father died, and even then… we don’t unfortunately get to know who he becomes after seeing all he sees in district 12. All we see is an 18-year-old who’s been sheltered for a lot of his life with a chip on his shoulder, and more money than he knows what to do with. Could he have brought about the revolution earlier? Maybe, but the way he trusts Snow he probably would’ve outed a rebellion because he believes his friend is actually his friend and not somebody who sees him as a means to an end or not even worth bullying. Sejanus is another victim of Coriolanus’s ambition and his narcissism. He never gets to grow past 18.
