It's hard to break the habit of 16 years. All the actors have been trained to give their hot takes and receive adulation for their virtue, and all the best roles. We forget how just a few years ago, it was open season on half the country. People acclimated to that cultural landscape can't reverse course without confessing they've been idiots for years on end. They almost have to double down, or admit they're fools.
I feel like it’s some of that but on a deeper level they’ve failed to win the hearts and minds of the population after trying so hard for so long and that fact is literally driving them mad
Actors are adult pretenders. Many believe the ability to read lines convincingly and look good on camera, is an intellectual feat. "I can play a scientist, so I must be brilliant!" Actors used to have publicists and studio public relations staff who would act as buffers between the public. It was rare to read or hear an idiotic comment from some famous film or TV star. Turns out actors are no more intelligent than anyone else, despite their fame.
Some equate extroversion with intelligence. Most actors are extroverts. It's not communications and theater majors who make the world function, though.

I am sorry to see that unlike William Shatner, Anson has no class. I won’t be renewing Paramount Plus. The online streaming show model sucks anyway. You get maybe a 1/3 of episodes network TV used to produce and then you wait several years for a season. Isn’t worth paying for.
Well TOS was woke as hell too.... so you either didn't actually watch it, or just duuuurrred your way through it and missed some pretty obvious "woke" things in it.....
The network had no problems with Jeffrey Hunter, who played captain Pike. The problem was Hunter's wife, who was dead set on her husband being a movie star. She thought TV was beneath him. The producers even screened "the cage" for her to convince her to let her husband be on the show. One of his children said in an interview that he would probably have been happier if he had stayed with Star Trek. He never quite got A-list stardom, but does have some great credits. The Networks DID have a problem with both Spock and "number 1" Rodenberry fought for both and was able to save Spock.
He probably would've lived longer as well. From what I've read, he died of a hemorrhage he suffered several months after an accident with a squib while he was filming in Spain, apparently causing him to fall down the stairs and fracture his skull. Obviously, that wouldn't have happened if he'd stuck with 'Star Trek.' Weird to consider what the show would've been like without Shatner and with Hunter. Maybe there's a parallel universe out there.
I'm sure the main star trek reddit sub is protecting him. I been banned there for a long time for criticizing nu trek. I hate how they used the infinite combo quote from Spock to justify all the gender crap on that sub and yet when I pointed out he also said "the need of the many outweigh the need of the few" Aka straights vs trans.. banned.
They condemn the actor who played Reginald just because he is right wing and supports Trump, but whenever any of the leftist actors are rude or say nonsense they blindly defend them

This will not alienate over half of their potential fans as it will only alienate Trump weirdos. Who are NOT half the potential fans since this show can be watched all over the world.... and you are not even half of this country..... That number you are calling "more than half" is only people who voted this election.... Not even half the eligible voters did that this time around....
Well that is disappointing.🙄 I thought some of the episodes were pretty good, it thought it was better then Discovery at least. Now I may not watch the next season that is a shame.
Hollywood has stopped making movies for normal people. When they actually make a movie worth watching maybe I will go to a movie again...assuming there are still movie theatres after they finish destroying all of our favorite stories.
Actors really need to learn that they exist to entertain us, they exist at our leisure, not the other way around, they are some of the least important and most replaceable people in existence, they're not special.
Oh, you mean Fake Pike? The guy with the pretentious haircut that looks and sounds nothing at all like the late Jeffrey Hunter, an actual leading man? That Mount?
Actors spend every waking hour playing someone else and operating in a fantasy world on a soundstage. It's no wonder they have no clue about "reality".
1960s...... Star Trek just as "woke" as 2020s Star Trek..... You just didn't have your brain completely rotted by right wing propaganda yet so you didn't see that as a bad thing....
SNW is in someways a revenge show. A certain segment of strokes Rick fans never for gave the original captain Pike for saying that he couldn’t get used to having women on the bridge. So now, other than spark and pike, there is nothing but women on the bridge. Even Mitchell has been retconned . into a woman. That is where they like to play around and have Pike wearing an apron and cooking for everyone constantly. Even the second season finale, which was clearly meant to be a riff on the best of both worlds, showed Pike being very cowardly and indecisive and afraid. Typical man behavior, according to the NuTrek writers.
Only two episodes were good, 1. when that security lady fell in love with an alternate Kirk, and 2. the last one where they were overwhelmed by those dangerous aliens. The rest was meh.

"I can play a scientist, so I must be brilliant!"
Actors used to have publicists and studio public relations staff who would act as buffers between the public. It was rare to read or hear an idiotic comment from some famous film or TV star. Turns out actors are no more intelligent than anyone else, despite their fame.
Some equate extroversion with intelligence. Most actors are extroverts.
It's not communications and theater majors who make the world function, though.
Not half of the Country
MORE than half the Country
No less than half actually. It was still less than half when Biden got 8 million more votes than Trump did in 2020..... Because you are only talking about people who voted and less than half of eligible voters voted so again not half of the counrty.
@skillcoiler awww, you still think Biden actually won in 2020? How cute. Come, I have some ice in Antartica to sell to you.
77 million out of 335 million is not "more than half."
Damn... I know him from Hell on Wheels. Shame he fell to the brainrot.
It is sad; I had the feeling he would be of the same politics as everyone in entertainment, but this is just unbearable to watch.
Another reason I am glad that I stopped watching SNW at the beginning of the second season when they went full in for the girl bosses and wokeness. Shame that Hollywood can’t just focus on telling a good story.
I rather watch the original, next generation, or enterprise, then these shows
Grand Nagus Zek to Hollywood: “Shame on you!”
Star Trek has been going woke ever since The Next Generation
@@GiovanniAlckmimRusso TNG never exactly beat you over the head with it.
@@peterkrochmalni673 oh, it did, a lot, especially in the first seasons
This is why I never got into Strang New Worlds. I knew that guy was a snake.
me too! My default on Hollywood is FUCK NO!
@@russ254 Glad I didn't either. I saw a few clips later that made me glade I never watched it. The misandry is off the charts in it and twerking Klingons..
This show can not be cancelled and forgotten soon enough. Thanks to this fool that will hopefully happen sooner than intended.
SNW is part of the rebooted Prime universe, not the original Star Trek universe, which is why Mount's Pike is nothing like the original.
Bad excuse.
They claim it is all part of the Prime universe.
@@daddystabz They can claim anything they want, it doesn't make them right.
Looking back, I am glad they cast Anson as the silent Blackbolt in the Marvels Inhumans series. He is better not speaking
4:28 Zegler didn’t really apologize, that letter was written by Disney PR and she posted it, but those were not her words, she isn’t sorry one bit.
2 days later she was back at it.
I hate how they used the infinite combo quote from Spock to justify all the gender crap on that sub and yet when I pointed out he also said "the need of the many outweigh the need of the few" Aka straights vs trans.. banned.
They condemn the actor who played Reginald just because he is right wing and supports Trump, but whenever any of the leftist actors are rude or say nonsense they blindly defend them
Yes and I am sure your criticizing was not boiled up by "waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah women and people of color have leading roles.....eewwww there is a gay couple and grooosssss is that girl chubby."
Who’s surprised here?
I wish I was.
Those Delta Rays melted his brain.
Damn shame. I thought he was normal.
The behaviour of the Hollywood crowd these days is baffling. No audience, no job.. easy.
I remember someone saying entertainment shouldn’t be political. It will alienate at least half the country.
Another causality, SMH. These woke hollywood actors never learn.
People wonder why the Star Wars and Trek universes are dying. A perfect lesson on how to destroy a loyal fan base.
I wouldn’t watch any of these new Star Trek shows even if you gave me 500,000 Quatloos

I remember Michael Jordan said "I'm a basketball player, not a politician. Republicans buy sneakers too." Thank you for ruining the last vestiges of anything that can be called "descent" Star Trek. Strange New Worlds was pretty good and a whole lot better than that Discovery disaster. Thank you Anson Mount for showing your true colors. I'm turning you off forever. Jeffrey Hunter was a way better Christopher Pike than you'll ever be. Star Trek is now officially dead to me.
Sad to see the number of Federation members who are part of the Borg. Was 7 of 9 ever pro-human or just a double agent for the Borg all along?
I love when actors tell me to never watch them again in any movie or TV shows.
Agree. Love Star Trek, but only the older shows.
When are these actors gonna realize no one cares about their opinion.
💯💯💯
Well, let's see, it's coming up to Thanksgiving so about half past when Hell freezes over.
I mean except for the people who write articles about their opinion.... the people who make videos about their opinion and the people who respond to tweets about their opinion and then you and everyone here in the comment section of videos about their opinions.... but yeah other than that no one cares......
@@skillcoiler And yet it doesn't seem to translate into box office, does it?
A thought occurs to me, though. Is this definitely him? Is he running his own social media or is some idiot nose-ring Paramount intern behind this trash take?
I remember decades ago, Bono was asked what he thought about trying to keep his fans aware of reality. Bono said he didn't want that job, it was too hard, and it was hard enough to keep himself aware of reality which is a full-time job which he said he would take on, because in showbiz you're kept from reality.
He used to be aware of being in a bubble.
He is as fake as the Star Trek he plays in.
The only real Capt Pike was played by Jeffry Hunter.
this one is so tough, and in a moment he'll be squealing an apology, smearing it with leftist filth.
It’s interesting the majority of actors, post-TOS, are so intolerant when they’re in a franchise about acceptance and learning.
You can be intolerant of intolerance and still be tolerant.... And yes thank you the one right winger in these comments that seemingly understands Star Trek has ALWAYS been "woke"......
@skillcoiler I'm not a right-winger. Nor am I a left-winger.
@kirk1701 Cool.... unlikely but cool story.... also, not a counterpoint to what I said as it doesn't matter what political leaning you have.... my comment is true regardless.
@skillcoiler Whatever helps you sleep at night.
Although, my comments are living rent-free in your head since you seem to be drawn to them in particular.
Really need to have it written in to their contracts that they don't have social media accounts or refrain from political comments.
Proof that these celebrities are extremely nuts and need therapy
Something about Star Trek attracts the most unhinged actors
Most actors are unhinged and musicians as well.
How do actors prove their stupidity? They alienate over half of their potential fans.
Lol man I know you guys are dumb, otherwise you wouldn't be supporting Trump, but really even very basic reality is out of reach for you? This will not alienate over half of their potential fans as it will only alienate Trump weirdos. Who are NOT half the potential fans since this show can be watched all over the world.... and you are not even half of this country..... That number you are calling "more than half" is only people who voted this election.... Not even half the eligible voters did that this time around....
Well that is disappointing.🙄
I thought some of the episodes were pretty good, it thought it was better then Discovery at least.
Now I may not watch the next season that is a shame.
Yes it certainly is better than STD, but that is a pretty low bar. 🖖
I love it when people who have NEVER interacted with the real world, preach about how we should think, feel, and vote.
Hollywood has stopped making movies for normal people. When they actually make a movie worth watching maybe I will go to a movie again...assuming there are still movie theatres after they finish destroying all of our favorite stories.
Yeah Hollywood only making billions of dollars..... real struggling business model they have there in Hollywood.....
Actors really need to learn that they exist to entertain us, they exist at our leisure, not the other way around, they are some of the least important and most replaceable people in existence, they're not special.
His name is Anson, that's really all I need to know. Stop consuming this slop.
I don't like prequels, reboots, or alternate universes. I don't watch any of this new Star Trek mess.
Oh, you mean Fake Pike? The guy with the pretentious haircut that looks and sounds nothing at all like the late Jeffrey Hunter, an actual leading man? That Mount?
I prefer Bruce Greenwood.
Actors spend every waking hour playing someone else and operating in a fantasy world on a soundstage. It's no wonder they have no clue about "reality".
The romans were right about actors.
Can't help increasingly feeling that social media should be rechristened Antisocial media.
Don't block them when they are showing you who they really are.
Social Media is a disease for these celebrities.
So the actor who played a southern slave owner is a Democrat in real life..
Its like the role was written for him...
Why is it always Star Trek actors
Sad, pathetic, predictable behavior by Woke Trek actors.
1960s......Star Trek is epic.
2020s......Star Trek is a woke joke.
Typical man behavior, according to the NuTrek writers.
new trek is worse than new coke was
Just remember HALO and know that modern Hollywood deserves NO RESPECT!
Captain Soyface
It seems, the endless space wasnt only in the series, it was in the actors heads too. :]
Crap I liked that show. Oh well I won’t miss it.
Only two episodes were good, 1. when that security lady fell in love with an alternate Kirk, and 2. the last one where they were overwhelmed by those dangerous aliens. The rest was meh.
@@tomigun5180 When I saw what they did with the gorn I gave up.
He needs to act like Black Bolt and remain silent.
Patrick Stewart _did_ get into politics: He claimed that his show, Star Trek: Picard, was a commentary on Trump.
(And this possibly the second season, the worst season of the show).
Yeah TOS was "woke" as hell too.....
@skillcoiler
I don't know.
"Woke" these days is:
*Disliking beautiful women.
*Disliking beautiful women in sexy outfits.
*Disliking masculinity.
*Disliking whiteness, particularly straight male whiteness.
*Seeing black people as forever victims.
*Having TDS for clout.
*Believing women are perfect.
The list goes on.
@skillcoiler Considering "woke" is based on hate and intolerance:
Nah.
I disagree.
@kirk1701 Ah, there it is. I was right to say unlikely....you're definitely right-wing.... you're spewing right-wing talking points and giving the right-wing propaganda slant on "woke."
@skillcoiler I think I remember you trolling other channels.
You spewing nonsense just to get attention.
I'm just glad I have never paid anything to watch anything to do with Anson Mount 🤣🤣
that sucks i really enjoyed most of strange new worlds....might have to drop the show if this shit gets pushed harder then it already is

I always thought that there something fake about Mount, beyond just being an adult pretender. Looks like he finally revealed his true colours.
This is why I don't watch Star Trek or any other woke garbage today
Even though he said it as a joke and obviously doesn't believe it, at least he understands what we are upset about.
Yes..... stuff you IMAGINED to be upset and whiny about..... This stuff IS NOT HAPPENING....
Strange New Worlds is as bad as Discovery. The male characters are there to espouse politically correct garbage and be wrong on everything then be brow beat by the female cast . The musically was one of the worst things done with Trek
No its little more no cry and cry like discovery.
I'm so sick of this "woke" crap. Definitely going to give your books a listen. Just wishlisted them on Audible.
I don't even know who this guy is, just hearing about him now.
B filler, nothing but some semi successful tv series
This just adds another reason why I refuse to watch "modern" Trek. It's dead, Jim.
Funny you say that since TOS was "woke" too.
He is NOT Christopher Pike.
Could they have an episode where they show a planet that has gone too far with the lgbt+ stuff , and pike meets the planets equivalent of himself who explains the pitfalls this has caused to his planet's society ?
The could travel to Earth.
We need to collectively stop giving a shit what entertainers unqualified opinions are, and maybe they'll stop volunteering them.
Life long Star Trek fan who doesn't watch Star Trek anymore.
Why? I mean if you used to watch and seemingly based on calling yourself a fan enjoy "woke" TOS up until this point.... why stop now?
@@skillcoiler Because old Star Trek was about fighting actual social injustice. The New Star Trek is a just proganda tool the radical left uses to indoctrinate people in to their own personal believes, big big difference.
A number of years ago, Marina Sirtus said that Republicans should not watch Star Trek.
Her reply to the backlash from the left was. Hate me I don't give a SHT
Im glad they are putting themselves out there . The internet is forever and he will pay for this
