Alan literally saved my life. Not metaphorically, but truly kept me from committing suicide. I was suffering from deep depression and held a lot internally to prevent upsetting my family. If not for hearing some of his videos over on his channel, I wouldn’t be here today. I had a gun in my mouth at one point and put it down and prayed. This interview means so much to me. I’m 45 and starting to get healthy, working out, and getting my spiritual life back where it should be. God bless you all for what you do. Alan, I doubt we will ever meet in this world. Know that I am thankful and grateful for your words. I’m happier now than I’ve been in my entire life. Appreciate you for sharing your story!

I hope this isn’t weird to say, but as a never married, childless, single 48-year-old who decided to get my master degree and then covid hit, followed by a breast cancer diagnosis and losing my father all in the last 2+ years….dealing with grief, anxiety, depression, and imposter syndrome (in college) it means a lot to me that you do what you do, and to hear people my age talk about these things so openly and honestly….it helps me work towards self-acceptance, put myself back out there, and embrace and enjoy the journey…So thank you. Much appreciation. ❤

Being bipolar myself I had to micro dose to, for about two years after my first diagnosis at 49. I’m 55 been med free for 3years now with no issues I have lows that last for months but they pass. Haven’t had a manic episode in 3 years. As long as I avoid stress which is my biggest trigger. I still train hard in my martial arts a drawing and painting. I have meds in case I need them but so far so good.

Alan Ritchson is just an awesome human being. This episode on top of his last appearance are why people came here. Kudos to Michael for this. But you know what; we're all missing a trick. I've realised what it is we are all missing. It's an Alan Ritchson movie. It stars Alan Ritchson as Alan Ritchson. It doesn't need a script, because it's just Alan's life. But it won't be a documentary, because Alan is so goddamn awesome, it WILL be a blockbuster of a movie.

I don't think I've ever felt so, impressed, or humbled by someone in an interview. Alan is an incredible genuine human, and I cannot be happier for his success, and survival thus far despite and in spite of his challenges. Hearing him talk so openly about therapy and mental as undoubtedly one of the current, and likely longstanding iconic role models and talk about opening up gives me such hope for people growing up now. My life would have been a lot more survivable seeing and hearing someone like him when I was younger. Genuinely wish him everything he wants in life, and a long happy career dling whatever it is he wants, even if he can get that zero fame job he wants and he disappears

He is so relatable. The way he explains his experience is the closest thing I've ever heard to explaining how my life feels. I don't watch Reacher, but I did just watch his movie "The Ministry of Ungentlemenly Warfare" and he was absolutely amazing. I highly recommend a trip to the theater or a home rental of it. Thank you Alan for being so honest. It really does help.

Damn, good on Alan Ritchson for opening up. Especially about taking test, since it's one of those things no one ever dares to talk about in hollywood.

I'm so glad that they are talking about bipolar because my daughter was diagnosed with bipolar about a year and half ago she's been in the mental hospital about 5 or 6 times and she did not start showing signs of mental illness untill her older brother died ni 2021 from a car accident she just stop talking and doing anything for her self I would talk to her and she said nothing and she was not eating neither so I took her to the doctor and they admit her to a mental hospital she was doing ok untill her father died a year and a month after her brother died it was already hard for us when my son died but afterwards when her father dies it made it even worst she was then doing this crazy laugh and banging on the walls and she kept on bothering the neighbors saying they had her dog when she loss her dog she was staying with her big sister and I was visiting them for about 3 months she kept on saying she was going to meet her friend that live in north Carolina and she was in georgia her friend was not coming to visit her then she was writing to her cousin that live in South Carolina that she was going to kill herself so she went back to the mental hospital she had been in the hospital about 3 times by then then her and her sister got into it and she left and move in with her godparents and they already had 5 kids at the house she was not taking any medichine and she refused to talk to a psychiatrist so after she moved in with her godparents she started having another episode yelling but this time she was walking around the house butt naked so they call the people from the hospital and they came and pick her up her godmother followed then when they got to the hospital and her godmother opens the door and my daughter is in the back seat butt naked so they admitted her to the hospital again I was already in north Carolina so she stay in the hospital for about 2 weeks and they had diagnosed her as being bipolar she was good for about a year and half then she went back into the hospital the end of November she just out the hospital on December 6 this time her godmother say she was writing stuff screaming out loud and unplugging everything in the house but this time she got arrested for putting a garbage can on fire so they had a hard time when she first got to the hospital because she refuse to take her medicine but when she saw that she was not leaving she started taking her medicine and she is 19 they got her on medicine I hope she continue to take it I worry for my child everyday and I don't know how to help her she does not want to come to stay with me in north Carolina I feel like I can not help her all I do is pray for my child everyday because I can not loose another child and she stays near her grandparents but her grandma is bipolar to they say my daughter is bipolar 1 if any one can give me suggestions on how I can help my child please tell me because at this time I don't know what to do

To this day Alan's first interview on here is my favorite ep of Inside of You and one of my fav pod eps ever. The best thing about this second one, which is equally as transparent is that you can see and hear all the growth that he's had since then. The authenticity is off the charts. Ultimately I think these two interviews are the best examples as to why Michael started Inside of You in the first place, and coupled with Talk Ville, Michael has one of the best one-two punches in the podcast game.

Alan I listened to your first interview with Michael too
    You look amazing man
I'll never forget how you shared pulling yourself out of the noose
I've had depression issues too at times So bravery counts
Living in the present moments with intention
I've never been a professional athlete but lifted a lot of weights and played sports
Let myself go after I got married
Ended up with rheumatoid arthritis Daily battle
    But making improvements
Not berating myself for where I'm at now Just trying to improve
    Congratulations man
    Very proud of you

I'm bipolar (I had a major manic episode of Messiah complex and almost killed myself), gay, HIV+ for 35 years, and sober for 30 years. Growing up I was beaten up, teased, called names, etc. Hearing a "MANLY" man talk about feelings, fears, and the truth is so powerful. I hope it gets through to many guys. It's great for those of us who are sensitive and the guys who bully us.

It's funny hearing Alan talk about his fears that his character in Reacher would come across too stoic and emotionally distant to be compelling, and Michael identify that no, the charm totally comes through.
When I saw the trailer I hadn't really seen Alan in anything proper, and ostensibly it seemed like Reacher would be, exactly as he says he feared, boring. And one of the great joys of watching that first season was discovering this understated warmth and charm of both Alan as an actor and through his performance, Reacher. I mean the show is a really really cool and sorta old fashioned-in-a-good-way thriller, but I wouldn't love the show as much as I do if it wasn't for Alan's x factor.

The world needs more of Alan. Everything he’s been in I have enjoyed his performances. Even if the overall project wasn’t there best, he’s always been good. I find he’s like Dwayne Johnson in that sense. Not every project is good but he’s always enjoyable to watch.
