I realized Soldier Boy was going to be a big character this year, but Jensen took over the whole damn show. The character is hilarious though.

I never realized I wanted a hyper douchy Dean Winchester who cusses like a sailor until I saw Jensen in that Soldier Boy outfit.
“I beat my meat into a cup!” And “bush like a Pomeranian” are two of the best delivered lines in the show 😂😂
He made himself, Dean Winchester, Supernatural trending, and Kripke would love to bring Jared too (if he had time)...I mean Kripke did bring many of his crews from Supernatural to The Boys. Also, I honestly think Antony Starr can play a hell of a Lucifer.

That’s Kind of where Garth Ennis came up with the name Soldier Boy.
Jensen is a far better actor than the roles he gets. He should be in way more stuff.

I think it's more so that he was tied up with supernatural and didn't have the time than not getting the roles but now that he's finished he'll be in some stuff

I am not sure about his power levels but I do know he does not age and he was born in the 1920s or 1940s so that was an era where a lot of other races did not interact, there were no lesbians, homosexuality, bisexuals, etc, well, at least in the 40s it was frowned upon and you could go to jail. Soldier boy was in a hole for decades so it going to be interesting when he found himself in a world that now accepts lesbian, same-sex-marriages, interracial marriages, transgender, different accents, etc, and how he deals with it. Homelander is a psychopath and a murderer but he is not a bigot, racist, etc he is just a grade-A asshole who likes to get his own way and kills indiscriminately.

Why is Jensen Ackles not being casted for tactical military movies. I watched a SPN episode last night of him kitted up and clearing hallways of demons, and he looked like an absolute bad ass. If he was for real trained to move in cqc, he could be dope in a movie like 13 hours, or the show Seal Team. He's so underrated imo.

Whats amazing about his portrayal of the boys is that his character could easily be so corny, unbelievable and just not believeable, especially compared to how amazing honelander has been. But jensen comes in and his presence is just stellar
i think this can be said for all the characters too honestly. could all so easily be corny and hard to watch, but a combination of great writers, a great director, and great actors make it all work

Seeing him als Soldier Boy was such a pleasant shock. He nailed that character so god damn good. The voice, the look, the acting is just a holy trinity right here.
You gotta love stories like this. Jensen gave his heart and soul to Kripke's characters, so it's a no-brainer for him on The Boys to want to bring in someone he really believes in to act the part!
Sometimes people conflate good luck and opportunity and not having to earn things. Just because he got an easy foot in the door doesn't mean he didn't have to nail the role of Soldier Boy. Favorite character in S3 by far.
soldier boy took over every scene he was in S3. the best non main cast ever. he has to come back in the boys series finale whenever that happens.
the boys is one of the best tv shows I've seen in a very long time, so many great characters and such great writing and acting from the entire cast especially Antony Star

I love how he said their were more bigger names that were talked about to play Soldier Boy. I appreciate Jensen being humble but we can all agree no one could’ve played the part better.
Jensen's a pretty cool guy. I met him a while back when me and my dad were doing some carpentry work for his wife. Real down to earth guy. Also has really good taste in hats.
In after watching "Herogasm" yesterday. I never watched Supernatural or really knew of Ackles and it's awesome to see him work and be able to appreciate his talent.
You should watch supernatural. Honestly one of the best if not the best show ever in my opinion.
Watch the first five seasons of Supernatural, after that it's up to you.

I always thought they gave him the role because they worked together before. I mean technically they did, but I would have never thought he wasn't on their minds instantly for that role and he's great.
Tbf, no one else from Supernatural (aside from a cameo of Jim Beavers as, heh, Bobby Singer (which is a reference to then executive producer, later showrunner of Supernatural, Robert Singer)) was casted for the show. As well, people have to pay to watch this show, can't just use nepotism to cast major roles, lol.
I've never watched Supernatural, so it took me a while to even recognise where I'd seen soldier boy from. But Jensen absolutely killed it. He is fantastic!

Jensen as Soldier Boy is a logical choice really... you can see glimpses of Soldier Boy in Dean Winchester. Dean was rugged, stubborn and tough. He also was a witty, sarcastic Ahole at times but it fit. Jensen is great actor and I can’t imagine anyone else portraying Soldier Boy, now that I think about it. Great show, great writing, great casting etc. I literally look forward to every episode
I respect this man for this. often times we forget that celebrities are people too who have sacrificed and worked hard to get where they are. I'm even more pumped to see season 3 now.

I absolutely love how similar yet different Dean and Soldier Boy are, and the simple site of Jensen wolfing down a cheeseburger was downright cathartic. Between how much Soldier Boy carries that same 50's James Dean-esque swagger which Dean embodied so well, and Kripke straight renaming Dakota Bob to Bobby Singer then casting Jim Beaver to play him, it makes me so stoked at direction this promises, as Kripke demonstrates the kind of tongue in cheek humor, and self awareness that make The Boys so iconic.
His soldier boy was so good. It was a fascinating character.
he was only there for half a season and he still managed to become my favourite character in the series, next to Homelander of course. and he NEEDS to come back in the next season

Cannot wait. I've seen several people point out how Capt America would end up saying things he saw as perfectly normal during his time but would be horribly racist or insensitive today. It sounds like that's exactly what soldier boy will be.

I always said that The Boys is what the Avengers would be if it wasn’t a fantasy world. Real people are flawed-look at WandaVision. If I accidentally brainwashed an entire town every time I had an emotional upheaval I would’ve needed to be put down.

@@mindfortress105 if he didnt read the part well and give the best demo possible...he likely would not have got the part. But he did. Watch the show...he plays the role extremely well. Connections help...but if you cant act you cant act. Simple.

If other factors are equal why wouldn't you give it to your friends who you have worked with? after all you know his work ethics, how well he can deliver on expectations, and how he works under pressure. In this case recruiting people based on prior experience of working with one instead of the so-called "hundreds of people who can deliver just as fine performance" makes sense.

Jensen WILL BE A SUPER STAR, he has that "it" factor, if his career doesn't blow up, casting peeps are dropping the ball and leaving money on the table. Leading man looks, good comedic timing, excellent drama credentials, literally been in a show for years honing his acting ability, he is ready for Tom Cruise, Tom Hanks stratosphere like trajectory with the right cinematic vehicle, godspeed Jensen ya lucky bast*rd!

First 2 seasons are amazing but season 3 feels like a step up!!! The real world satire, the bloody fun, and the send up on the superhero genre are great but they are secondary to the performances by the cast of this show! You fall in love with these some of these characters! Even the ones you hate, you love to see them on-screen!

Soldier Boy really catapulted this season to new heights. Not by the actor that played him (although it helped) but cast recognition and writing. It's rare you can bring in such a well known face and have him take the entire fanbase by storm.
