I suppose sometimes it takes someone on the outside looking in to realize haha. And yes I encourage you to film yourself! @@JimmyxMelanie Can you recommend a good GoPro mount for my longboard? I see a lot of reviews online but not many of them are good lol. And we definitely need to see more of Jimmy paddle boarding in future videos! 😀
@@trevorsowder oh yes Jimmy has been in and out of commission this summer. He's been getting his full back tattoo done with monthly sessions so it keeps him out of the water for 2 weeks every month. I told him he should've waited until winter when we likely weren't going to surf often haha. Regarding the mount I've always used the official GoPro surf mount. Only one time has it snapped off but I had the GoPro tethered to the extra security mount so thankfully my GoPro didn't go anywhere.
7:32 FIRE! There is phrase which for superstitious reasons I never say, my belief is that said phrase stills the ocean and leaves me with only the paddle of shame.
Thanks! Yes the hike itself isn’t bad, it’s just when carrying a bunch of gear lol. My usual spot has been weird this summer due to the change in the sandbar so now this spot is my go to. I guess the upside is the extra exercise I get 😂.
Yes Indian beach used to be my go but I agree it’s been horrible! Was just there yesterday and it was the worst. Probably won’t go back this summer. Shorties has been amazing, well worth the hike! Maybe we’ll see you out there some time 😀
@@JimmyxMelanie It will definitely be worth investing some time a Short Sands this summer. There are more peak options at short sands and occasionally correct swells can work on some of the sand bars at low tide. I think the main problem with many breaks this year has been low tides corresponding with morning weekend secessions when most people try to surf. I have encountered many days like that, so I wait around then the wind picks up and makes a mess. I don't surf Indian very often, so I actually appreciate the videos with different view points that show how the break is working.
@@chrisrokz9005 yes I’ve been to Short Sands 3 times this summer and each session has been far better than at Indian beach. I can certainly see now why everyone prefers that break. I just used to always avoid it because of the hike 😅. But I see now that it’s well worth it. Will be heading there next week for more. - Melanie
Hey Jimmy and Melanie, It was nice to meet you guys in the parking lot at Shortys a couple weeks ago. I know you usually go to Indian beach so it was luck to see you both. I have enjoyed seeing your progress learning to surf and your adventure at Witches Rock surf camp. Melanie, you are making great progress with your pop up and catching waves. Jimmy, I hope you enjoy learning to SUP surf, downside is hauling an SUP board to the beach and back.

I've been going to Indian Beach this summer and its been trash...this looks a bit better, I just hate the walk in with my 9'8. :) Love the content.

Cool surf spot
It is a cool spot, but would much prefer to surf SD though haha.
2nd day looked pretty fun. I find if I almost exclusively look to go left at short sands I have a bit more fun. Often the rights fizzle out. 🤙
