    Hi Waski! I found you on the Appelboom Favorite 3 Pens video series and then looked at your "about" page. I was stationed at Minot for two years and enjoyed it (though not the wind!) Since you drive around Wyoming too, my husband is from near Yellowstone. It's nice seeing all the open spaces in your drive around videos--a stark contrast to where I'm living now (Tokyo) hahaha! Hope you enjoy your M1000!

      Thank you for joining in. Yes, North Dakota is a different world from Tokyo! I used to live near Minot in two little towns: Westhope and then later Turtle Lake. Now I live in the very SW corner of the state near the Badlands.
      I had planned a trip to Wyoming this summer. With the virus, I'm not sure what will be coming. But I have lots of footage saved up and plans to use it!

    Thank you, Jason. Congratulations on getting an M1000, that nib is amazing and like a hose pipe. I know I'll never own one of these which is fine but at least I get to see it writing on your channel,
    I could see the happiness on your face that this pen caused after the writing sample and that makes me happy to see you so happy. Enjoy!

    The Pelikan M1000 medium nib is juicy, writes like a broad and lives up to its reputation of being glass smooth. Although large it is absolutely ergonomic, so to sum up the model is sublime.

    I am so excited you got this pen!! You have influenced so many of my pen (and a whole lot of my ink) purchases it is about time I influenced one of yours! I, too, desire the fine nib, maybe in the future, for my birthday. I also wish the M1000 came in blue. I usually fill mine by pipette filling (or syringe) with the piston back and then screw in the nib, I prime the nib and then add a smidge more ink. I have compared the width of mine and the medium is exactly the same width as my #6 Bock double broad nib. I am addicted to the M1000. I love that I can print in an italic like fashion due to the stubbish nib and my cursive has a sense of elegance due to the softness if the nib. I am always running out of ink with it, and that is a good thing. Enjoy!!

      You are entirely the reason I bought it. Seeing your samples on Instagram tipped me over the edge. That nib is incredible. I too want a fine nib. But I love this medium! So thank you for turning me onto it!

    Congrats on that M1000! Quite the impressive pen both in size and quality from what I've seen. Plus it's a nice pen to gawk at when walking past shop windows. Prices seem to have dropped a bit recently, though it's still out of my price range.
    It's been a while since I watched one of your videos, as I've been laying back a bit on the fountain pen hobby (still using them, just curbing purchases). This one's a nice one to come back to.

    The M1000 interests me insofar as it is said to be a world-champion gusher. I want a gusher. Particularly as revealed by your wetness and flow test, where it almost looks like watercolor.

    • @herrkeks8509
      @herrkeks8509 4 года назад +2

      It is a very wet writer. :) But I still tuned one of mine to be even wetter. :D Ink line of the one with increased flow is basically 3-dimensional. 🙂
      Towards the stock wetness. The M nibs on my other M1000s are currently the wettest M nibs I own. :) Maybe comparable to the massive B nib of my Lamy 2000 Stainless Steel. :) The M1000 M nib is far from being dry.
      Other M nibs of my:
      Visconti Homo Sapiens 23k Palladium
      multiple Jowo #6

      Three years later and now this video convinces me I DON'T want it, it is far too wet. Though the experience of using a very wet pen is delightful, the way I draw is much better served by a somewhat dry pen. That's why I have so many dang pens - I keep changing my mind.

    Hey Waski!
    Ooh, welcome to the club :)
    I do enjoy mine and I hope yours give you years of fun. Mine is a broad so it’s a bit of an exhibitionist - and it really drinks the ink... so worth it though! ☺️
    Great video as usual.
    Edit: oh forget to compliment you on the ink. I have the Australian rose but not the English one. I have to get it too. The ink choice was a good one due to its nice shading. As an aside, I love putting blues in mine, don’t know why. Two of my faves at the moment are Akkerman #8 and Ishida Bungu Hakodate Twilght. 😉

    I didn't have very good luck with Pelikan's more expensive pens, having bought an M1000 green stripe and M805 grey stripe from a European dealer. The M1000 arrived with a damaged nib which had to be that way when shipped, and the M805 is a very dry writer that I haven't been able to correct so far.
    I recently got an M205 Olivine fine steel nib that writes great, the other day an M215 silver lines medium that also writes great, and today an M120 Iconic Blue with a fine that is perfect. I'm having much more positive experiences with the small less expensive steel nib pens than the fancy gold nib models. I think their little pens are highly under rated, and they still have excellent piston filling systems.

      I ran into the ink bottle problem this evening! The small bottle of Pelikan 4001 Dunkelgrün is too small for the nib that I had to tip it at an angle. I ended up wearing some of it.

    • @kevinlandon7578
      @kevinlandon7578 4 года назад

      @@WaskiSquirrel , that is a common problem with the big nib pens such as the M1000, MB149, and the KOP in my experience. Usually, the floor wears more ink if I try using a small bottle or one that is below half full of a bigger bottle. I have been using Pelikan Edelstein, Montblanc, and Monteverde inks in mine with no problem. The Sailor Jentle bottle was a disaster!

      I think the Lamy 2000 will stay in that role. This Pelikan is too much fun to "disappear into my hand" like the Lamy does.

    Do you know a good place to get a nib ground?

      It would depend on where you live. I've only had nibs ground by Dan Smith of the Nibsmith, but this is a grand total of 2 nibs, so take my advice with an enormous grain of salt.

      Noodler's is just fine in this pen. (OK, maybe not if I used Baystate Blue!)

      In these First Impressions, it's a notebook I was given from a UK supermarket chain called Morrison's. (I have a penpal who lives in England.)

    Nice one. Pelikans look to be quite wet .. that M1000 was practically oozing man! I think the Mont Blancs are better callibrated for ink flow, cos I can see feathering with these Pelikan nib gushers.

      @WaskiSquirrel  3 года назад

      Thanks for the tips! My Montblanc experience ends in the 1960s, so I really appreciate your comments. I agree that the m1000 is very wet. Though, this one does well with my paper.

    Lol so many mistakes on your writing sample :P
    Gosh i like that pen... I like that its a piston filler and that it has a big nib! I find most pens have small nibs and the grip section is way too close to the paper.
    Im growing away from converter pens. Something like this is farrr more classy if you ask me!

    • @WaskiSquirrel
      @WaskiSquirrel  4 года назад

      This has a wonderful nib. I'd heard that for years, but dismissed it. Turns out everything I heard is true!
      I don't mind converters too much: they're easier to clean. But there is something special about a built-in filler, especially if the pen goes through ink as quickly as this pen!

      Not a secret. They're out right now, but this is where I bought it. I am told (but don't know) that this is actually Pure Pens.
