If you can get in it’s a great dive. My buddy and I swam out around 500’ then dropped down to around 110’ then made our way back in, the bottom has a stair case like rocks around 80’ it looked like the edge of the continental shelf. There’s giant white sea anemones way down there. Stop every 30’ to off gas but slowly make your way along the bottom. Funniest part was swimming out and past a guy fishing in a small boat 😂. Just be careful cuz it can get rough out there. Read the ocean beforehand!

High value content as always. I'm not aware of any other channels that consistently provide such explicit dive guides.

I love this dive site. I would also note that it's super important to keep your regs in while getting in and out of the water

Just want to say as a relatively newer local diver I find your videos extremely informative and well made. Thanks!

That’s where my buddy and I certified. Did the Montasary Crawl.
Visibility that day was 50+ meters

Is this a ok place for new divers or should they try somewhere else?

Try San Carlos beach in Monterey for beginners

    • @SDScuba

It's generally considered an advanced site. Consider talking to a guide if you'd like to dive it. Maybe dive San Carlos with them first and see what they say. Have fun!!

@@Syk00o01 ya a fun dive for beginners is Monterey to the right of pier 1 straight out in line with the fire station, there’s a submerged military vehicle out there in the sandy flats. 👍

Monterey boat launch near cannery row is best for beginners and a seal rookery. I had about 20 pups all around me, just like puppies. California certifies the safest divers due to conditions, poor visibility and currents mostly.

I just began reading the book "Whalefall" by Daniel Kraus. The setting is Monestary Beach. I searched RUclips to get a better idea of the beach and the dangerous dropoff described in the novel. I must say, your video gave me an awesome mental image of it! I actually SAW the dropoff as you were diving.
What a strange and beautiful world our oceans are! 🌊🐚🪸🐠

4And that drop-off is even worse in bigger surf. I just took a look at the book you mentioned an I'm considering ordering it. Did you enjoy it?

@@SDScuba Oh my goodness...it was a riveting read. I loved it! It sounds like a far-fetched plot, but the author made it very realistic. I highly recommend it. 🙂
