That animation detail spike on mark was a foreshadowing to how the animation is going to switch up later in the series the same way it did in the comics making it very Bold and vibrant

Japanese animation has been using similar techniques, and some anime still do, for decades. Thanks to good music and ambient sounds, these pauses in animation don't seem boring.
This scene encapsulates the TV show as a whole - it lengthens some things at the expense of others, and it can do some different things than the comic did, adapting to fit and even showcase the strengths of the new medium.

I forget which issue, but in the comics Kirkman and Otley, are notorious for reusing the same comic panels for subtle things such as reaction shots so they could save time and not have to draw a similar panel over and over. In the comics mark went to a comic convention to get his copy of science dog signed (it’s SCIENCE dog in the comics) and he was asking the author about the art and the author was explaining some of the short cuts he uses in his comic( which kirkman and Otley use) such as reusing panels, meanwhile in the entire conversation is is drawn with 2 panels used over and over again. Basically whatever the author was explaining some of his methods, those methods were literally being used on them and their conversation in real life.
These sort of shortcuts have been VERY obvious to me when watching content like Invincible. It's not the end of the world....... but I always wish it was done better when it does happen.
They EQ'd Mark's dialogue while he was covering his mouth to make it sound more muffled... that is some GOOD attention to detail on the sound engineer's part!
I thought this was a diss at the people on twitter who belittled and threatened the animators because the second half of Invincible was delayed. Then I found out this was actually a scene from the comics explaining the comic industry. Even then, this was still a great middle finger to all those who don’t appreciate animator’s hard work
I've always noticed that anime has been doing this for decades, but I like it. I see it as a unique and iconic stylistic device that gives the series its own identity.
A joke like this would be funnier if the show included more satire, but they actually cut a lot of the satire out from the comics. Like Damian Darkblood, for example, was a complete satire of Rorschach in the comics. The show took him so seriously.
He’s an expy of Hellboy actually….but he was used for comedic effect. Showing up to proclaim Omniman had killed the Gardians of the Globe just after omniman and Invincible had there big public fight IIRC…

These sort of shortcuts have been VERY obvious to me when watching content like Invincible. It's not the end of the world....... but I always wish it was done better when it does happen.

They EQ'd Mark's dialogue while he was covering his mouth to make it sound more muffled... that is some GOOD attention to detail on the sound engineer's part!

First the Season 2 teaser and now this. Absolutely S-tier animation jokes.
I loved this scene so much
this joke would work better if the entire show wasn’t cutting corners with its animation at all times
Meanwhile MAPPA can shit out 26 episodes that look better within 6 months, they just need to sacrifice their lives
And ALSO have ludicrously big staff and budgets multiplying the worker abuse
The Viltrumite punch-up in S2E4 has so many still shots, but it quickly switches between shots and has bombastic sound effects to convey impact
I thought this was a diss at the people on twitter who belittled and threatened the animators because the second half of Invincible was delayed. Then I found out this was actually a scene from the comics explaining the comic industry. Even then, this was still a great middle finger to all those who don’t appreciate animator’s hard work

I've always noticed that anime has been doing this for decades, but I like it. I see it as a unique and iconic stylistic device that gives the series its own identity.

A joke like this would be funnier if the show included more satire, but they actually cut a lot of the satire out from the comics. Like Damian Darkblood, for example, was a complete satire of Rorschach in the comics. The show took him so seriously.
He’s an expy of Hellboy actually….but he was used for comedic effect. Showing up to proclaim Omniman had killed the Gardians of the Globe just after omniman and Invincible had there big public fight IIRC…
I love this scene/joke in a vacuum for sure.
But after Season 2 came out with the laziest animation I've seen in years, it hits a bit different.
