So every one knows I am out of the hook forms and am making more should be back up this afternoon or in the morning. Steve, Foxwood Forge
They are back up but selling very fast I am down to 3 sets from 10. I will try to get some more made tomorrow if you miss out. Steve
Hey Steve I have a similar sort of hook maker I wanted to know if you would mind if I sold some. Didn't want to step on Your toes. Thanks mate.
I don't know why i have always been so fascinated with Blacksmithing. One of my uncles used to do it on the farm and I have been to some shows. I guess it just fascinates me because it is one of the earliest powerful metal working trades. Thank you for sharing.
I did watch Steve making hooks with that Jig real good quick work. and a nice review too - Tom in Ayr Scotland....
Another option is to use 1/2 inch square welded to the angle iron. 1/2 inch drive sockets are placed on the 1/2 inch square to provide an easy swap of “dies” of different diameters using different size sockets.
Great idea !
That’s what I use. Works great.
That sounds like something worth making!
that's genius. Gonna have to make that.
By the way, that 1/2 inch square and socket idea is not my brain child, but wanted to pass it on.
very cool idea!!! I might have to make me one of those!
Great review John! Steve is a wonderful guy! I was looking for tongs when I first started out about 4 years ago, I found his Etsy shop and realized that he is just one town over from me. I went over to his shop to pick up a few sets of tongs and Steve spent well over two hours with me, very generously sharing his time and knowledge answering a bunch of my noob questions. He showed me some neat tricks for making, shaping and finishing leaves and we made a bending tool from a single piece of stock which I also got to keep. He also introduced me to this jig and I use it regularly (and now have it in several sizes). By the way that was very nice of you to give him a shout out. I hope your viewers go check out his shop and show him some ❤
✌
Thanks steve from foxwood forge!
I made on of these last night. I'm new to this blacksmithing thing and it helped me make couple of hooks for my mother in law for mother's day. Good design.
respect from Moldova
I was honestly thinking about taking a piece of Plate steel and drilling rows of holes and Building stems with bearings on top or something to sit in them so I would have an adjustable jig. This seems like a much better option
Nice one thanks for sharing !
For a guy that does not have a anvil nor hardy hole, this is a great tool. Thank you for sharing and providing his Etsy shop info. 👍🏼
Thank you for the video
Bought a set from Foxwood Forge with these and various tongs and they've all been quality and come in handy. Awesome to see them here!
Sir, I have built one and I find it a very useful tool, and I now built nicer and more hooks .
I thank Steve and you for the information and thanks for both of you teaching Sirs.
Thank you for show this jig for making hooks
Very nice jig. Thank you John and steve.
Very clever idea. Nice job. Thanks john6
Great jig and video another piece of inspiration for my shop.
I sure appreciate all of your hints and "Make it easy's"
Nice job Steve!! Cool design👍👍
Very clever design Foxwood!
Brilliant!
Perfect little jig. Looks easy to make. Thx again....paul
That is an amazingly versatile idea - ATB
Nice jig! Nice clean build.
Awesome informational educational video experience Y'alls
Sir what a great video you are awesome thank you for sharing! :-)
Hey John, just finished watching Steve’s videos. Came back to watch your review of the bending jig Steve sent you. I really appreciate your honesty and believe your review. Thanks so much for sharing with us. Keep up the good work and videos.
Very useful jig can replace many of my current ones , thank you! O, and before I forget.... Gargoyle spotted 😁!
Great tool!
Pretty slick jig! I like how you don’t hesitate to promote another youtuber/blacksmith... just finished my first basket twist s hook with the captured marble inside. Thanks again for the inspiration!
That little jig is an awesome idea, it almost puts me off learning how to make hooks on the anvil 😋 I might put in a REALLY early order for my birthday, in the summer, or next Christmas! LOL 😆 Thanks for showing it, it has got me thinking about what else could be done in a vice jig 👍👍👍👍👍
I love binging on your videos, you are so knowledgeable and so good at teaching. I have decided to adopt you as an honourary dad.
I also look forward to your opponent reveal of the many products and trust in your efforts to help and be truthful Sir
Again thank you for teaching
Genius!
Brilliant
Great idea. I will make a set of these tomorrow. A small pin is nice to make the bend start sooner and pipe will work well to get an assist from the scrolling tongs if needed, plus help with a back bend.
Good review and demonstration of a well made jig. I can see where if you are going to be making a large number of "S" hooks or coat hooks that this would be a BIG help.
Thanks for the honest review and demonstration.
Nice one, John!🐾⚒🔥
I bought one of these because of your video, please tell him you have been advertising for his shop
.
Neat tool there. Pretty handy. I made a lil bending jig for my 1st project a couple of weeks ago, its 2 pieces of 1in welded to a 1in plate...not nearly as versatile as the one you just got. He had a better idea and I like that.
Blessed days sirSir, Crawford out
Thats a brilliant idea make any size hook with that
Really nice video and I love watching you drawing out tappers on the anvil. You get the friction down.
Thanks
Nice video John well done :-)
Hi John, I use a jig of a different style but it does pretty much the same thing, preset jig to material, forge, wrap it around so it looks like the letter "P" quickly flip jig upright snug vise and use the built in bending fork to back bend and Voila! hook end for a fireplace tool!
You got me interested in your Portable band saw...That is a game changer....cuts faster than cut off wheel ...much clearer in my shop...
I made a saw holder that best yours but don't cry...
Mine is the BEST...aaI hope to send you one.... only hope it helps...and help others after you show them.
Thanks, it will be interesting to try it out.
That is a neat little tool! How is it I let this get by for 3 years? !?
This would fall somewhere between "Building a better mousetrap", and "Necessity is the mother of all invention." Either way, it's pretty stinkin' slick!
good stuff man!
Glad you liked it!
@@BlackBearForge Love all of your videos! You have a great source of awesome information. I am looking forwards to getting into art! It is also awesome to see replies from you on a video close to two years old! Take it easy man and I look forwards to seeing more.
I like those tongs u got a video for them
I always get mixed up which way to put the curl on the second hook until ive made a few
I have a set that I made with half inch bar for the bending braces
The simplest adjustable jig I have seen. The bending forks you use are not a scratch on this.
How'd you get your anvil so quiet?

I could kind of see how it worked in the thumbnail and I had to check it out.
