Fine, I’ll say it. Ahem Then along came Zeus He hurled his thunderbolt He zapped Stuck those suckas in a vault They’re trapped And on his own, stopped chaos in its tracks!
Just looking, I think, depending on which you choose, it could actually be pretty good, becuase he is holding a number of them such they look like a double sided spike.
Have you ever considered filling a tire with cement and placing a pole to support Tony? Might keep him from falling over all the time. Gnarly stabby bolt though!
Everytime I see Tyranth break out one of these weapons, it always makes me wonder what Shad's reaction to it would be. The Arlong sword definately didn't disappoint. It looked like it broke Shad's brain a few times LOL
I grew up picturing glaives as the bladed heads of polearms instead of throwing weapons like chakram or shuriken. Therefore, I'd consider these lightning bolt weapons to be more akin to javelins than glaives.
Semi-topical you know you can always make throwing chakrams from very simple ones to the fantastical ones once wielded by an amazing actress with high cheekbones
Tyranth's Functionality Score is a mouthful. What about I-C-C-Ut (as in "I cut")? Intent- How good it is at it's Intended use. Comfort- How it feels (especially when "fighting"). Configuration- Overall design/ build/ aesthetics. Utility- Likelihood that you would use it based on the results.
As a Zeus, I think a big part of the issue with it as a throwing weapon is that it was just put together to match a cool-looking shape and isn't balanced or otherwise particularly optimized for throwing. I think you could create a more effective throwing weapon with a bunch of physics going into the design, both in terms of weight distribution and overall shape, and it would probably be better if it was a little longer.
If your going to go that far you might as well just do a different design making the point moot, we all know the design isnt that aerodynamic no matter what but the question is how bad haha 👍🏼
Grind! Ha Hu Ha! Grind! Ha Hu Ha! GRIND! HA HU HA! Its really cool to see how you become better and better st trhowing these strange objects and make them work. Id say you trew it like you expected it tondraw a straight line to de objective, a bit more parabolic trayectory might help, but you made it. Another great and fun video!
What's the reasoning behind using the shorter end of the bolt for thrusting? Wouldn't you rather have longer end for more range, and when throwing, use the shorter end, as the length doesn't make as much of a difference there?
It's a dual point, short spear/javelin with a weird shape. Straight versions existed throughout history, so of course it works, the shape is not an improvement compared to traditional ones though.
I think it functions more like a javelin than a throwing glaive. 12:01 - Like the Pain Index by Justin Schmidt? "Fandom Weapons Functionality Index" has a nice ring to it.
Really? You like God like weapons? Then perhaps you might light Fierce Deity Link’s Double Helix Sword from Zelda: Majora’s Mask which is one of my most favorite fantasy swords ever created. Which I’d love to see you & Shad test out that sword. In fact, I love this unique weapon so much that it was the main source of inspiration for designing my main hero’s double bladed double helix sword staff for my almost 25 year old anime project.
If I were some kind of king or general thousands of years ago i'd have had one of these made just because it looks cool and intimidating and carry it around everywhere.
Huh, I never thought of the lightning bolt as a physical object we could have replicas of but now I want one. Oooh, a fully glowing one [like a lightsaber blade] would look even more awesome, all lit up from the inside.
The aerodynamic issue can be caused by the holes because you used a square tube. You can try using a square bar which will make it heavier and stronger or find a way to plug the holes and see if that helps
2 points I noticed while you were throwing it are that it spins, so at different distances you might get a different angle. And that it seemed to do better on harder targets, probably because the point is so focused, pretty much like any spear. I also think this particular weapon would probably benefit more from being a bit longer, maybe slightly shorter than spear length.
I haven't been able to come up with a good name for your rating system, but might I suggest adding an aesthetics category? You always sort of touch on it with the design category, but that's more of the practicality of the design. Plus that would give the scale a nice 50 point maximum, instead of the frankly, odd 40.
I'd really like to see you make a version of Maiev's umbral crescent. There's several designs for it and I think that there's potential for making it... Well, not effective, but not terrible. I submitted it as a design to one of Skallagrim's design contests!
I have no idea whether you did it intentionally or not, but I appreciate you releasing this video the same day as the next Epic: the Musical saga release.
OK, my suggestions are: The Flying Guillotine The Damascus Blade, the version from the Battle Angel Alita manga that's a giant balisword The Deathdealer Axe The Beastmaster sword The three bladed sword from The Sword and the Sorcerer Sword-chucks from 8-Bit Theater Double chainsaw staff from Shaolin Cowboy Chainsaw Scissors from Resident Evil: Biohazard Rocket hammer from Battle Angel Alita The swiss army knife gadgets the heroes use at the end of Five Element Ninjas Klingon Bat'leth from Star Trek Ulaks from Chronicles of Riddick The Orchid from Samuel R. Delany's Dhalgren The Caber from Beastmaster The Diskos from William Hope Hodgson's The Night Land
Would the aerodynamics be better if you covered all those gaps/holes and gave it the original diamond cross section? How about throwing it with the heavier side underneath to stop inertia causing it to flip and possibly lose energy? Just my thoughts. Fun video as always!
Pulling that out of the tree, it may just be camera placement but that looked pretty close to the eye. It would be terrible if there was no longer a Tyranth because of pointy steel in the eye. Something to consider when dealing with double-ended pointy objects in general, the risk of the back end poking the user accidentally. It's not so bad on one like a swordstaff, but something shorter is potentially hazardous.
The angles aren't only stoppers, but if made more solidly so would they work for parrying as well. This could actually be made into a pretty decent multi use melee and throwing weapon. And if someone was mad enough to actually use these as primary weapons then I think the best way would be to dual wield them with a quiver with a few extras on the back for replacements after throwing them. Well, I guess the magically returning version also works...
Not too surprising that it twisted to be upside down from how you released it, it meant that the heavier end turned towards the ground. But it also raises 2 interesting questions for me. 1 - have you tried throwing with it the other way around? 2 - have you tried throwing with some spin?
I think it would be interesting to see how it compares to a similar piece that's made of the same material, but is just a straight piece. Would it imbed itself deeper? Do the bends in this piece dissipate the force when it impacts? Might be a cool video to see.
I had a thought, and Tyranth is free to decline or not do all of the swords, but I'd like to see if he can make functional recreations of the Mist Blades from Naruto. They are 7 ninja swords that are used by the legendary Seven Ninja Swordsmen of the Mist. At the very least I'd like to see him tackle the three most iconic ones Kubikiribōchō (Executioner's Blade), Samehada *Shark Skin), and Kiba (Fangs or Thunderstriker)
Ideas for functionality scoring system: Functionality and Rating Tyranth system (F.A.R.T.S.) functionality assessment typing (F.A.T.) Tyranth's fundamental functionality yarning (T.A.F.F.Y.) Tyranths Universal Functionality Formula (T.U.F.F.)
If the center section of the Thunderbolt were at least 50% longer, and the perpendicular sections about 50% shorter, it would probably throw better. If it didn't have great big holes through the pointy sections, it might fly a bit better too...although they do reduce the drag. I suspect the reason the bolt rotates in flight is purely because of weight distribution. If you threw it far enough I believe it would rotate a full 360° (and keep rotating if it was far enough).
Hey Tyranth would you be willing to do a Ludwig’s Holy Blade (Bloodborne) build? I think that would be awesome! I also believe it would be right y’all’s wheelhouse of cool.
hey Tyranth, i know it might sound...hard and...long to make (dont mind.. that, i cant think of better terms at the moment, im sorry), but would you consider making a replica (as close as you can make it obviously) of the Onyx Blade from Dark Souls 3 and test it ?
Can you do Poseidon's trident, please. It would be interesting to see if the three prongs would make it not as effective, like we saw with Wolverine's claws.
I disagree with the "it is meant to be thrown at the end of the day" statement. I think Zeus threw it at any time of the day or night. Good and fun vid. Cheers.
Increasing the total length by 70-100% would probably get it closer to the javelin category, however, that will almost certainly hamper the already weird balance and aerodynamics, so some rework may be needed. Would it help with the throw? Maybe, it will certainly have more mass behind it. But i will also be more rear heavy with that broken shape, that might skewer the trajectory of the flight. Should be worth investigating.
This is javelin, strange shape and a little bit not balanced (creator fault...) but still a javelin so it was obvious thi will be a good throw/thrust weapon. 10/10 Also I love this videos for every "that's what she said" joke.
Fine, I’ll say it. Ahem
Then along came Zeus
He hurled his thunderbolt
He zapped
Stuck those suckas in a vault
They’re trapped
And on his own, stopped chaos in its tracks!
It'd also be interesting to see how ancient Greek depictions of thunderbolts would work as a throwing weapon.
Just looking, I think, depending on which you choose, it could actually be pretty good, becuase he is holding a number of them such they look like a double sided spike.
dark souls
There are some statues and shit but I don’t think they look like a weapon
@@cp1cupcake the simplest one looks like a double-ended spike indeed. advanced ones are shown with two or four prongs.
Just call your rating the Tyranth Scale
I second that
I said last week... I think just calling it the "T-scale" is fine.
Have you ever considered filling a tire with cement and placing a pole to support Tony? Might keep him from falling over all the time. Gnarly stabby bolt though!
That worked better than I thought it would, I expected it to be terrible.
id argue that it is less of a throwing glaive and more of a javelin. names aside, i want one.
..... AND THEN ALONG CAME TYRANTH!
He HUURRLLED his throwing Glaive 😂
And never missed his mark.
I'm a Welder and those welds will give me nightmares
So, I was watching this during an actual thunderstorm.
Natural sound effects!
Everytime I see Tyranth break out one of these weapons, it always makes me wonder what Shad's reaction to it would be. The Arlong sword definately didn't disappoint. It looked like it broke Shad's brain a few times LOL

T.R.U.C.E.D. - Tyranth's Rating of Usability, Comfort, Effectiveness, and Design
That or T.U.R.D. - Tyranth's Usability Rating Data
I have to be honest, this weapon was a million times more effective than I expected.

Where is Nate to make fun of you for hitting the camera? 😂🤣
Props to the welder. No specific reason... Just props.
Awesome video Tyranth. Thanks for the hard work. Also,to your team.Cheers.
Happy to see you still finding crazy stuff to test
Well those welds looked horrid, but can't argue with their effectiveness atleast.
If the bolt actually shocked opponents upon stabbing them, the effectiveness would increase by 2-3 points
Grind! Ha Hu Ha!
Grind! Ha Hu Ha!
GRIND! HA HU HA!

Structural integrity , and keep one point sharp while testing
7:48 Is that a Kentucky Ballistics reference? 😂
Fantastic video, worked better than expected.
This channel has been dropping such great videos! The Blade glaive working was unexpected. It reminds me of an amateur version Mythbusters.
I absolutely loved this episode! Really solid fantastical weapon that is actually a deadly weapon! Even tho not the most practical.
Flash!! Ahhh aaaahhh! Defender of the Universe!
It's a dual point, short spear/javelin with a weird shape. Straight versions existed throughout history, so of course it works, the shape is not an improvement compared to traditional ones though.

SAME DAY AS EPIC THE MUSICAL THE WISDOM SAGA COMES OUT??!!?
prob just a coincidence...
Hey, I’m new to your channel and living the content.. keep up the great work! 🤙🇬🇧
Loving your videos man. Thank you for making another one. Musical greetings from Belgium, Gunther (singer and lyrics writer of Gabriel Scar)
One cool thing is that if you miss while charging and it hits a tree behind your opponent, you can try to ram into them and shove them back onto it.
I think your channel is as cool as it gets man! You remind me of how awesome Shad was before he cared so much about money! LOL
I appreciate the thunder sfx!
Now that's shocking!
Hopefully it’s en-lightning
I've been loving these videos
Bet that thing would be great against chain mail
@4:03 that was some "on point" timing. Skillz
Better than expected
Can you do the wolverine claws based on the contraction Deadpool made from the Deadpool and Wolverine movie?
As always, great stuff!
I can't wait to see Shad's reaction to this. I think he's going to be surprised by how functional it is.
It is a CRIME to be this early, absolutely love your stuff even though I haven't even seen this entire video yet
I always picture them being like a javelin. I'm it's a weapon made for zues by his blacksmith.
I love the card at the end
You could make a final list of ranked tested weapons. So to compare you dont need to check X amounts of other videos or remember them all
If I were some kind of king or general thousands of years ago i'd have had one of these made just because it looks cool and intimidating and carry it around everywhere.
Screw some 2x4s to the bottom of the stool legs to stabilize it
Huh, I never thought of the lightning bolt as a physical object we could have replicas of but now I want one. Oooh, a fully glowing one [like a lightsaber blade] would look even more awesome, all lit up from the inside.
This was awesome. Petition to take more time and make a “prettier” version that’s just as functional, if not better 🙌🏻⚡️

I'm genuinely impressed, it worked a lot better than I anticipated. It's a wonky short spear/javelin
Would be neat if you could invert the spike ends for safe transporting or have spike caps. Maybe a hexagonal shaft...
You should definitely show this one to Shad. I'd love to see him try throwing it at stuff
Here's a name for your score. What about "The D.E.W.C. Score" (like you would say "Duke")
D - Design
E - Effectiveness
W - Wieldability
C - Comfort
I haven't been able to come up with a good name for your rating system, but might I suggest adding an aesthetics category? You always sort of touch on it with the design category, but that's more of the practicality of the design. Plus that would give the scale a nice 50 point maximum, instead of the frankly, odd 40.
Youre just showing how spear is king. Good vid
I'd really like to see you make a version of Maiev's umbral crescent. There's several designs for it and I think that there's potential for making it... Well, not effective, but not terrible. I submitted it as a design to one of Skallagrim's design contests!
The point reminded me of the sort of socket bayonet you'd put on a musket of rifle.
This would make a good sidearm for a fantasy character and the size plays into that but a small javelin or short sword would be more practical irl.
Omg😂 this is interesting
I have no idea whether you did it intentionally or not, but I appreciate you releasing this video the same day as the next Epic: the Musical saga release.
skibidi toilet ohio gyat rizz tyranth sigma!!!
The tips remind me of triangular section bayonets. Nasty wounds.
OK, my suggestions are:
The Flying Guillotine
The Damascus Blade, the version from the Battle Angel Alita manga that's a giant balisword
The Deathdealer Axe
The Beastmaster sword
The three bladed sword from The Sword and the Sorcerer
Sword-chucks from 8-Bit Theater
Double chainsaw staff from Shaolin Cowboy
Chainsaw Scissors from Resident Evil: Biohazard
Rocket hammer from Battle Angel Alita
The swiss army knife gadgets the heroes use at the end of Five Element Ninjas
Klingon Bat'leth from Star Trek
Ulaks from Chronicles of Riddick
The Orchid from Samuel R. Delany's Dhalgren
The Caber from Beastmaster
The Diskos from William Hope Hodgson's The Night Land
Hi Tyranth, I know you and Shad made some videos about Wolverine’s claws; will you do a video on Vega’s (Street Fighter) claw as well?
Would the aerodynamics be better if you covered all those gaps/holes and gave it the original diamond cross section? How about throwing it with the heavier side underneath to stop inertia causing it to flip and possibly lose energy? Just my thoughts. Fun video as always!

Still would love to see spinning saw blades being launched like the ripper does from dead space lol
Hesphestes is crying at the design, but it did work so good to go.
Tyrannical Viability Rating.
I'd love a spear with this style and maybe capacitors.
It is basically just a javalin with some extra bends in it. It should work well enough, just require some adjustments to get used to it.
Not too surprising that it twisted to be upside down from how you released it, it meant that the heavier end turned towards the ground. But it also raises 2 interesting questions for me. 1 - have you tried throwing with it the other way around? 2 - have you tried throwing with some spin?
The blade shape, at least up until the first "zig-zag" reminds me a lot of a bayonet.

I think it should be called a javelin rather than a glaive. Lightning Javelin just sounds better
Don't forget the surprise value. "Back off or I'll throw my thunderbolt!" "Lol... urk!"
Some sandbags would help Tony stay standing as wood a couple 2x4s (50x100). Gotta widen his stance!

my favorite version of zues's bolt would be the master bolt from the Piercy Jackson series because it turns the lightning into more of a javelin
Making a steel thunderbolt with electrical arc welding.
But as a professional welder myself, those welds would have me fuming if I saw them in person.
Hey Tyranth would you be willing to do a Ludwig’s Holy Blade (Bloodborne) build? I think that would be awesome! I also believe it would be right y’all’s wheelhouse of cool.
You need to add some sandbags to Tony's base to keep him from falling over
Love the channel, but may I suggest an investment into a sheet of Plexiglas to protect the high speed camera?
Tyranth forgot to rate it on a category that's very important to Shad how easy is it to flourish.
A category that's very important to Shad : how easy is it to goon to/with? Too old, not enough pleated skirts, 1/10.
Have you tries throwing it the other way? Like how it wants to land? Might fly better bc it doesn't have to spin/roll over.
I’m a boilermaker, and I was not emotionally prepared for those welds
hey Tyranth, i know it might sound...hard and...long to make (dont mind.. that, i cant think of better terms at the moment, im sorry), but would you consider making a replica (as close as you can make it obviously) of the Onyx Blade from Dark Souls 3 and test it ?
