Thank you so much! It worked on my iPhone. I followed your instructions. I cleaned the openings of the microphone and restarted the phone by holding down the volume and power button! Boom! My phone is working again 🙌

No way to fix. iOS updates changed the mic function and you can’t downgrade
in my case, i actually get a message 'microphone not detected' and the voice memo app record button is disabled. Also Siri opens and closes rightaway.
Voice memo button also doesn't even allow me to press it...
I am the same. Everything suddenly stopped, the voice memo button does nothing can't leave audio on messages on any app and my video records without sound... tried everything but hard reset. Losing my mind!

@@amdarcy Nope but hoping to take it to an apple store soon. The last video I made had the sound go very strange and distorted and then it no longer worked at all, so I believe the Microphone is dead.
@@samlamingluthierso I went to Apple. Turns out it is a common issue with 7/7 plus phones that the microphone breaks and if the voice memo app record doesn't work plus any voice options on siri messages etcetera then it's internal hardware, a little thing comes loose. BUT spare yourself a trip to apple as they will no longer fix a 7 as, this is what they say, 'they no longer have the tools' (translation: we want you to buy a new phone and don't give a rat's ass about the environment). So you have to go somewhere else, to someone who fixes iphones outside of the Apple family. He showed me that they used to charge 45€ for this repair, so told me I should not pay more than that and it will likely cost 30€ or so. So that's euros as I'm in Paris but regardless your location shouldn't be expensive.

I can record on voice memo, but I can't answer calls (cell and facetime automatically hang up when I answer) and all other calling apps (talktone, zoom, meet) display a message 'no microphone detected.'

My iPhone 7 Plus has a mic that works and it works whenever I restart the phone, but after a while it just randomly stops working. I’ve turned off Bluetooth and restarted the phone and everything. Nothing is working. It’s not an access problem.
