    Thanks! Symmetry changed a little, we need to enable symmetry mode, which is the butterfly 🦋looking button in the row of buttons just above the viewport, we can select our symmetry planes there and whatever we do with the sculpting tools will be mirrored to selected planes

    I was so confused why I couldn't create a layer, but following your steps showed I just had to subdivide 😅
    Thank you for this tutorial!

    Thanks so much for your videos! I am coming from Maya, and C4D is very different. And watching old C4D tutorials has old versions, so it's so difficult to learn, the interface is very different. THANK YOU!

    Fabulous video, as always from you Brother. So listen, OK, now we end up with the perfect stylized object that we were after, but it's 1 billion polygon, (facetiously). That's impractical for almost all CG applications. Can you make a video showing the ways that we can reduce the polygon count, yet, still maintain its definition. If I am correct, I believe there are two ways of doing that, one is by creating maps, or, baking the detail out, and the other is to literally lower the polygon count by some means. Thanks again.

    • @BTB3D
      @BTB3D  2 года назад +1

      Glad you liked the video. You are correct in that those are the two ways. The simplest would be to make your sculpted object editable and to drop it into a Remesh and lowering the Mesh Density. I was planning on doing a Bump Vs Normal Vs Displacement map video. I might be able to work that in!

    Helpful video! Keep them coming. Can the object still be sculpted if there is a material on it and if it has a Redshift Object tag? I am trying to sculpt my object (cylinder slice) now and for some reason the tools aren't affecting the shape.

    • @BTB3D
      @BTB3D  2 года назад

      Should be able to as long as it is editable and has enough segments/subdivisions.

    Great intro into C4D sculpting tools, this was just what I needed to get a good idea of how it works. I feel maybe there is more that you could possibly show us? For instance, two things comes to mind. How can one align stamps or constrain it along a certain path or plane? Secondly, like the example with the screw heads, how would one go about texturing this? Is there an easy way of selecting the polygons (considering the insane amount of vertices once subdivided), or would it be simpler to use one material and mask out the different areas for textures? I suppose a depth map could help you isolate certain elements.

    • @BTB3D
      @BTB3D  Год назад

      Oh there is infidelity more that could be covered, but this is more of an intro video. For selecting polygons brush selection or phong break selection might work best. You can save out selections and then assign materials to just those selections.

    Hello
    It's a nice video. thanks.
    I don't know if I missed it while watching the video, when using the sculpture brushes, holding down the Shift key switches to the smoothing tool like in Zbrush and Blender.
    As you said, there is no complicated software like Zbrush's interface. At sixty I learned enough to be useful to me. Likewise with Blender.
    I've been using Cinema4d since version 7. I use Sculp tools like magnet and broosh(smooth) tool.
    But when I sculpt, the computer has a lot of difficulty and the sculpt tools are still insufficient compared to Zbrush and Blender.
    I would be glad if you could answer some of my questions.
    1. By pressing the middle button as in Blender; Wouldn't it be nice to have the ability to instantly switch from front or side view to perspective window?
    2. It is necessary to turn the Symmetry feature of the brushes on and off one by one. Turning the symmetry feature on and off in Blender and ZBrush is one step. Does Cinema4d have this feature? Or wouldn't it be better if such a feature was added?
    3. What kind of processor and graphics card is required for the Sculpt feature to work well.
    4. You mentioned medical illustration. Do you have any tutorials on this topic? Where can we watch your samples?
    I have students working on this subject.
    Thanks in advance.

      @hopal6612 2 года назад +1

      @hjf4a2 Thanks for your descriptive answer. In your suggestions. Of course, with a simple research, I can find sample video lessons. But I also wanted to see Medical illustrations of the person who made the "Behind the button" videos.

    • @BTB3D
      @BTB3D  2 года назад

      1. You can also use the F keys to change views. F1 for perspective, F2 for Top, F3 for Left, and F4 for Front
      2. It would be nice if symmetry could be turned on universally or in one click, however since I typically stick with a brush for a little bit, it is not a huge deal to me.
      3. I think sculpting requires RAM more than anything as you can see how much a mesh is taking in the top right. Aside from that I would also assume your processor is also important. Single core speed is what matters most I believe.
      4. I do not have any tutorials for medical illustration yet and unfortunately all of my medical work is under NDA. If there is something specific you want to see for medical illustration let me know!

      @@BTB3D I think you missed it. "I've been using Cinema4d since version 7. I use Sculp tools like magnet and broosh(smooth) tool." of course I know the F1-F2-F3 ... keys. I mean; Blender has a nice feature to switch from front view to perspective with the middle ball of the mouse, it would be nice to have this feature in c4d and ZBrush.
      Thanks for your other responses. In the video, you mentioned that you do medical illustration. I was just wondering. I didn't ask if you were trained in this field.
      Kind regards.

    How do you cut a hole? that goes all the way through the object while sculpting?

    • @BTB3D
      @BTB3D  2 года назад

      I don’t believe you can. C4d’s sculpting is limited more to pushing and pulling. You would need to start with the hole there.
