Venice Wants to Punish You For Being Poor (By Charging You Money to Visit!)

The city of Venice has always been known as the default collage girl, ahem, sorry, college GURL, holiday destination in order to protrude their rear side on instagram. However, most of the target demographics visiting the city find lodging options on the island incredibly limiting. So the frequent trains and transportation options provided a long line of cheap accommodations in the Mestre district on shore. The city ain't exactly happy with these "low value customers" and want to do something about it. They wanna charge everyone money for day trips into town. How would they do it? What will be the results? I lay down my thoughts here.

Amsterdam has similar questions....
I usually avoid the most touristy places or visit in low season. The best experience is away from the crowds.
