The mega genesis will never die. The fan games keep it alive! I love to see it
This is all thanks to both the developer community and the supporting community of players. If there were neither one nor the other, then the console would not have the popularity that it has regained.
Na verdade, muitos consoles ganham novos games, NES é o que mais ganha jogos novos!
@@jogadorcomum3265The nes is too primitive, only 16-bit really matters.
It's amazing to see it's revival.
Cyber Mission looks cool. Definitely going to back it.
Still waiting on ZPF Kickstarter. Hope that it's still coming.
Isn't ZPF starting this week? I'm just a little out of the loop.
@@PSCDGames That would be really awesome. Latest info that i personally know of is the video from the composer Jamie Vance on the Mega Cat Studios( publisher) website. They seem to be about ready for the KS. For real this time. Haven't heard about it being actually this week. But i'm not on Twitter/X so i'm also kinda out of the loop sometimes.
I'll have an update on it soon.
I really enjoy your videos, Mike! Greetings from Brazil!
Hi, I think some of the best Mega Drive developers are in Brazil.
Those colours really do POP! Looks like a two player game of this would be great fun.
I'm hoping to get the 2player demo in the near future.
@@RetroGamerBoyawesome vid
They specifically wanted to make the game brighter for MD because this is where a piece of its charm lies.
@@RetroGamerBoy It will definitely be. It's almost ready.
Got a bit of Capcom's Side Arms to it
This exactly☝️
Hi praise indeed.
Shoot ‘em ups were very rare for me growing up. As an adult I’ve found my genre and it’s great to see so many come out lately.
I also loved this genre very much since childhood, and now I had the opportunity to work on one of them.
There are some great ones on the horizon as well.
Welcome back. I was worried you'd gone AWOL. We've lost a few retro game channels recently and worried you were one of them.
I'm just head down on the PS5 release of my teams game. That usually means long nights and weekends sadly.
Good to se you again Mike.
That's 👍
Looks great. Wonder when it will release, 2026 maybe? I haven't heard anything about Black Jewel for a while.
This year. We'll be in control.
Will be released in August, September 2024.
BJR this summer.
Thanks both for the update! Those are some great news!!
I think both games are this year.
Mike, as always, in my broken English, I want to say a big thank you from our team. As always, we are happy about the release of your video, your support for all projects coming out on retro consoles that you cover - this is a very cool thing. I will be glad if in the future we even somehow cross paths))))
Thanks guys for all the work you do for the community. It's great to see you creating and publishing such great games.
Crazy how the MD is coming back to life!! I wish Snes would also come back too!!
The Snes is coming back, but after the last two Kickstarter failures I've cooled off a bit from developing on the SNES. Yes, it wasn’t our best project, but it still showed us little interest. We are ready to make games on the SNES, but if no one buys the games, it’s simply not profitable for us to waste time and money on development)))
The snes hardware is obsolete and outdated to modern programming standards.
@@TROLLING_BOT I heard the SDK is horrible
It's strange how the SNES gets very little. Even when there is a new release, they don't sell very well.
Looks okay, but I'm hesitant to give these guys any more money just yet. Black Jewel has been delayed for two years now, well past the original release date shown in the KickStarter campaign. Updates for the supporters regarding the game's development have been extremely far and few between and it's a bit of a discredit to what is clearly a talented group of devs. Tbh, until Black Jewel Reborn is finally actually released, I'm holding off on any additional pledges.
Yeah every time these guys announce yet another project I get a little more disappointed. Classic mistake that a lot of people make, take on way too many projects when you haven't even finished *one*. Spreading their resources thin and everything gets delayed. Black Jewel Reborn is also head and shoulders above these other demos in terms of quality.
Well, you can just take your money)) We don’t force anyone to wait. Yes, the project will be very cool, and a lot of new things have appeared there, we practically made a new game, throwing out what was in the beginning. And we do this because you supported us, if you had not done this, you would have gotten the same type of game, with walking from left to right and killing everyone the same way. Have you decided what you want? Lots of content and mechanics or monotonous dullness?
@@PSCDGames You guys made the decision to take on new projects and new crowd funding campaigns. Don't blame your backers because you keep delaying the release. The options are not make a "dull game" or take forever. No one is under any obligation to support you and if you disrespect your audience, you'll eventually lose your audience. I understand first hand how things take time and can get delayed/behind schedule. Own up to it and drop the attitude.
Games take a long time to make. I understand the frustration but I would not worry. The team will deliver.
Love the people at PSCD games, also got their entire catalog!
Can't wait for this one, it seems right up my alley, very Trouble Shooter/Battle Mania-like.
Love the art and direction.
💪
Yes Battle mania. Great game.
Thanks Mike for bringing this news to us! I’m glad u managed to clear the boss on the 2nd attempt👍.. at least it is not as difficult as R Type and as hard-to-figure-out as AsteBros which I got stuck right at the beginning. 😂
Astebros is tough for the first hour, but after that you can upgrade quite quickly.
You would think alpha build more (close to final) than beta but other way around
Maybe
Slayer and Blunts to the brother who's been missed
🤘😝🤘
Welcome back mate :)
The game looks interesting but I will have to wait till the final version comes out.
If this is your genre of game it's worth trying the demo 👍
i will support this!! having some physical releases is a good thing esp in modern times. i refuse to support digital. imma start supporting these indies more in future
@badbou-gn8fu yeah I definitely agree with I don’t like digital and this is awesome to see so many new releases for all time favourite gaming console
Thank you, this is very nice))
It's great to see people still supporting physical media.
Gorgeous game, good looking host; this channel really does have it all!
😅😂🤣🤮
Wow this looks great, I love my shooters, definitely picking this one up👍🏻.
Another new game for 2024.
Ill back this once i get my black jewel i have been waiting for
Black Jewel is still in development. Check out their Twitter for the latest updates.
Awesome vid
Thanks 😊👍
This game would have been huge back in 1992
Agreed 👍
Looks amazing Mike, nearly every new release on the megadrive have been amazing and worth getting. I’m expanding my megadrive Indy collection, great review Mike, see you soon 👍👍👍
I'll have more news on more games soon.
Great looking game this is Mike. The crew at PSCD are are taking it into consideration to have it ported over on the Neo-Geo. 8^)
Anthony..
If Arrow Flash and Forgotten Worlds had a baby
😂
Reminds me of forgotten worlds
Yes)))
That was my first impression as well.
Gameplay wise it's similar to trouble shooter
What does this expression mean?
Interesting
Glad to see this is also on Steam, look forward to playing on my Steam Deck one day.
Nice video 😉
Thanks
Looks like a port of Cyber Mission available on GOG and Steam released September 2023.
Yes, that is right. Only we redesigned all the graphics for MD. We worked with the palette, making it more interesting, and got rid of some problems in the game.
I think you're right. 🤘😝🤘
Beautiful game
It does look great.
I’ve never been drawn to shoot ‘em ups, they always looks great, and the level of quality of this demo looks very good. But still shmups weren’t my thing.
This is just not your game, that's all)) But we have many other interesting projects where you will surely find something to your liking.
I was always intimidated by them. But the Mega Drive shoot'em ups are a lot more forgiving.
Wow, thank you.
Anytime
Looks pretty sweet!
It's shaping up to be a great game.
waiting deamon claw master xD shout out !
And there you are bringing us another project I didn't know about. Gameplay looked a bit slower than I thought a shooter would be like, but then again the enemies bullets aren't that fast too, so it's probably not an issue.
You mentioned Black Jewel Reborn. I'm wondering how far in development it currently is, 'cause we haven't seen news on this project in a while!
There's nothing wrong with Black Jewel Reborn. Now we are working on world 5, to which we have again added many new mechanics. There will be an update on the kickstarter page soon. I don’t often post news, because in order to show something, it must look decent.
From what I've seen it's made good progress. It has a ton of features.
@@RetroGamerBoy Yes, this is precisely what delays the development process, adding new mechanics.
It needs a more metal soundtrack if the controls are anything like Forgotten Worlds it’s gonna be a pain in the ass!!! Games like that and Ranger X could have been so much better but had limited replay value due to the controls and no continues
Well, we always pay maximum attention to management. So that the player can play as comfortably as possible, and this does not take away unnecessary thought processes from him, but works at the level of the gamer’s instincts))))
The controls are spot on, it feels very responsive.
I always wanted someone to make a 16 bit section Z 👌
🤘😝🤘
dude i mean this as a compliment, you look like a spitting image of tyson fury if he had found a passion for sega games instead of boxing
😂
Know your games, gamers.
This plays and sprites are exactly like S.C.A.T Special Cybernetic Attack Team for the NES.
😱
@@RetroGamerBoy Thats right!
Woww look good. I love news games release in Megadrive
Snap
My first impression was that it has alot of similarities from the Famicom game Final Mission aka Action in NY or S.C.A.T. overseas. It was confirmed by the publisher that it was inspired from it. Which is awesome.
Yes that's right. I really love the game Final Mission. That is why we took up this project. At one time I translated all these three games into my language)))
There are very few of this type of game. It's great to get a modern version.
The game looks like a modern contra the art style reminds me of that
Flying contra in space))
It's really well made.
Amazing start menu!🙌🏻 And those screenshots from the missions look very promising. We'll have a similar game though from company FREEDOMISLAND LLC.
Now here is a large piece of animation almost wrapped up revealing another mini-boss in that universe we'd created. There 10 of them along with 5 Mega-bosses). I will finish this huge piece of animation soon which I could send you to your e-mail, Mike, if you share👱🏻👍🏻
Good luck with your project. And the menu is the merit of two artists at once. Oscar Celestini, who invented it and drew it, and Dmitry, who drew it in pixel art.
That would be great.
@@RetroGamerBoy and what's your e-mail, Mike? Since I've almost finished on my end here😄. Voice-over, dubbing, sound design. It's have all made to 98,9%
@@PSCDGames That's great! I wanna put the dream team together - The animators like for The Earth Worm Jim and Metal Slug to make the same level of animations and artistic value of every element in our game. Maybe you guys know where those people are now? They should be in their 50-57 I suppose. Or maybe you guys reached the same level in animating figures and characters?
@@johnvgrand Well, I know quite a few young animators of this level. I work with some of them. They are not 50-57))) But from 25 to 35 years old)))
Looks like it's inspired in S.C.A.T. for the NES.
High praise
0:43 😮 holy crap look at those colors 😮 are those real or you're editing and stuff?!
Nope that's real and running on OG hardware
@@RetroGamerBoy thats awesome
It's very reminiscent of Forgotten Worlds, to be honest, but with a more modern colorization style. Apart from that, it doesn't offer much new in terms of fun, but I also don't know how big the ROM that will be used for the game will be...
Did you play the demo?
@@RetroGamerBoyNot yet, I haven't had time to do it lately.
nice cyber mission
It looks super cool.
I have a question . Is there still a full astebros review coming?
Probably not from me. So many people have done one. For me though it was a must buy and one of the best games of 2023.
@@RetroGamerBoywhy have you stopped weekly reviews? Why did you stop falling into the camera at the end of your videos?
I'm just taking a break. I'm making a PS5 game at work and that is a lot of work. It does not leave much time for anything else.
The art style looks very modern (overly clean, simple shading, etc.) but still cool nevertheless
It's stylized
👍
🤘😝🤘
How lonnnnnnnnng was that boss fight??!
It's a demo, the new version improves the fight.
Looks kinda promising. But at least for now I think I have enough shmups
The shmups do seem to dominate indie dev on the classic consoles.
There is no such thing as enough shmups 😂
Shmups - shmups never change)))
@@fieldingmister Exactly)))
Fucking hell bro you’ve got some games you
It's been almost a lifetime passion.
S.C.A.T from NES!!
No, SCAT to MD))))
😊
This game seems ok, but instead of Playing this game I would just pull out Forgotten Worlds which is a classic. It's a good intention.
Mike!? Miiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiike!
Selfish comment, but hope you're doing okay :)
I'm fine, just deep in games development at the moment. I am working with my team on a release and this means 16 hour work days. Which doesn't leave much time for anything else.
I'm such of all of these games needing a kick starter to even be made. Pass
Eh, it's a pity that you won't play such a wonderful game))
Pity.
Ha! Final Mission / S.C.A.T clone, well better than most anyways.
🤝
Every game is technically a clone of another gamer. The nuances of mechanics, art, audio, and world are often the differentiator. Beside
Too many shooters and platformer homebrew games imo. I'd like to see a good original fighting game or beat em up on 32x or Dreamcast.
This looks pretty cool. My daughter would probably like playing this 2 player with her old man. She's my shooter baby👍
I think soon you will be able to try this in the comfort of home))) The demo will be released any day now.
My young son loves playing two player MD games with me.
Music sounds great to me. Don't agree about it needing speedier rock at all
Well, the musician who participated in this project heard your comments and modified the music a little. No, it hasn't changed in style, but it started sounding even more interesting.
@@PSCDGames Great stuff, and awesome by the way that you're promoting it 👍
I guess it's all subjective 👍
these are games for babies. you're not babies.
Really?
Oh, it's just a boring shoot em up that's similar to Forgotten Worlds. Which I hated that game too, because I felt like both of the covers are false advertising for a game that they don't deliver on.
The two characters look like they're ripped straight from Contra, and that this is going to be an awesome run, and gun game. Do we get that? Nope! Just a stupid, boring, and uninspired derivative.
The genesis/megadrive continues to get new game's while the snes doesn't, and that's all that matters.
Forgotten Worlds ripoff and looks worse.
Well, I don’t agree with you on this issue)) Play it now)))
Don't worry about it, you can play the snes version coming to you never 😆
Really?
Yeah scat clone. Not interested.
Well, as they say - to each his own.
Nevermind, maybe their next game will be more your style.
