      @BroughtToYouByDDean I looked for someone else, even had a contest. None so far can expand and retract without taking longer than two seconds. Or don't meet the retracting definition meaning it is pulled back in by its self. I am still seeking links if you don't mind sharing one that can.

    SOMEONE IS PRODUCING ONE YOU CAN BUY! I just found out and came here to share the news. A company called Goliath is making it and is calling theirs the Power Saber Energy Blade! You can get it with a red or green blade, fully auto extending and retracting, flash on clash, motion sound effects, etc! It's $60USD and launches at the end of July 2024! I'm so stoked!

    I used to fence before I destroyed my foot, and am now getting into LARPing as a safer alternative. I don't have the skills or the time for this one, most likely, but I wanna see it done! I think the closest I've done is a glowing wooden staff, which doubles as a stealth cane. I think LARP props that double as disability shit is the coolest thing ever tbh.

    • @YourGeekFix
      @YourGeekFix  Год назад +4

      That is cool! If you have pics of your LARPing events or a project, we'd love to put it in the community section. I hadn't thought about it, but that is also a good topic for our podcast.

    • @nartyteek
      @nartyteek Год назад +1

      @@YourGeekFix Sure! We're planning campaigns as I speak. It's probably a pretty rich topic, too. There seems to be a huge draw for disabled players in LARP. I think a third of the people in my group are disabled, and a long-term goal is to find ways to play that are safe for everyone, whether that means fine-tuning a less physical combat system or allowing for rest periods. And finding ways to make disabilities look like the result of some kind of epic magic battle (instead of me slipping and falling on my ass) just makes me feel freaking cool, ya know?

    For the lights i think there could be parts taken from telescoping toy lightsabers that ignite, and maybe a "transparent" white plastic part that could make the effects look realistic.

    Hello, I need some help. I want such six lightsaber attached to a central ring at equal distances (think hexagon inscribed in a circle at those points). The thing is, I want all the lightsaber to retract or open at the same time. Any suggestions to achieve that? Your help would be valuable.
    I don’t want to create a lightsaber. Basically, I want telescoping antenna type tubes that is attached to a central ring and open and close at the same time. So, is there any way this mechanism can work for that?

    • @YourGeekFix
      @YourGeekFix  3 месяца назад +1

      If the ring is spinning, all would extend at the same time through the principles of centrifugal force.

    what about using that same design, but using an extendable baton from a magic kit? Joel Creates and Cole Failing used the collapsable staff and I really like how they looked. I've been trying to find a collapsable staff with is clear plastic however I cannot locate one.

    • @YourGeekFix
      @YourGeekFix  8 месяцев назад +1

      I remember seeing it done. The problem is, it can't retract. Also, from personal experience, a good way to get hurt. They use a coiled method. His clear version still is using that coil method. The retractile part is hard. I find they are hard to recoil even by hand.

Figured I'd look around and see if anyone has made anything along these lines and I find your video. Perfect timing! I think I will borrow your spool / wench idea since it works so well! This is great! We're soo close to having a fully realistic lightsaber prop.
    Adding a soundboard would be no problem its just a bit expensive. For lighting it idk if its possible but couldn't you get neopixel rings for each section that comes out? For the initial ignition (getting the sections to come out) would pressurised air be an option, like a piston mechanic?
    Just some thoughts, well done!
