This is me. I need something portable to power Aeons during 4+ hours of dialysis. Bringing my liquid gold X is sketchy af and my L50 only gets to 90/100. I was considering buying an Ifi Gryphon but this is amaaaazing. The swappable dac and opamps are a stroke of genius.
I want this. If I had unlimited funds I'd get it in a heartbeat. Uber powerful amp to listen to any headphone at my desk... And then I can grab it and chill in bed with it. Bliss. Which is why I have an XD-05 Basic at home right now.
This is actually me. Bought it as soon as it became available in my country and I love it. I paired it with a small Hiby r2 ii as a music source with a hiby link on my phone to control it while this chonky boy is hidden deep in my backpack. Also, Xduoo promised a R2R dac module, which is the one I'm the most excited about.
...........and a discrete amp module. This with the R2R dac should be heaven.

@@radiofreealbemuth I'm using my unit purely as a portable device, so I haven't tried it as a stationary setup. I can try using my baseus cafule 100 watt cable with a 65 watt gan charger (cause it is the only thing that I have rn), if you're interested in that.

Instructions manual on the inside reminds me of a video Jay2centz did of a custom pc from a well known brand. He fought like hell to open the wooden crate it was in. To find the Instructions on how to open the crate, INSIDE the crate 😂

Waiting a years for this. This is my source end-game.
Sparkos SS3602 take this thing to the next level. You basically have an extremely good desktop set up and the freedom to move around and not be stuck on your desk anymore. Go outside on an amazing day, lay down in your hammock, put on your Dianas or LCD-5, HE1000se or whatever other headphone or iem you love and not feel like you are missing a thing. Freedom. High end desktop grade sound with freedom 😁👍. I know I love the XD05 Pro.

@marc8vino most people use ESS dac, but I've heard some say they got good results with AKM as well. AKM is supposed to be warmer than ESS

I messaged Andrew and gave him an idea. SS3603 triple discrete op amp. Have the height of the SS3602 with riser socket. And slightly less width so it can fit in the XD05 Pro. But I agree, the Sparkos take this to the next level

Does it do the Tungsten justice? You said once that it was one of the best headphones you've ever heard. Is it still the case listening on the XD-05 Pro or do you still need a good R2R? Can you bypass the internal DAC module with an external DAC, like a Ares II or Geshelli J2? Size-wise this is perfect for my desktop application, but only if it has the sound quality and power to match the headphones demand & capability. The fact it has low gain for IEMs is a huge bonus because I want a pair of LCDi4 some day too.
xDuoo has said that they will be making an R2R DAC module for this, too.

Id say 97% there. Which is pretty amazing. The only extra benefit is running a tube-pre into this for Tungsten.

@@SpirallingOut No, they are too high. There are ways to use vivid, classic or staccato, but ONLY with long adapters and the opamps will remain outside. You can definitely use sparkos sparkos ss3602 (I have them in pro).
Isn't AES the long cable balanced version of coax input ? So if your computer or DDC was across the room that might be useful. Do pro mixing decks have mini AES ?
I assume SOMETHING has mini AES.. Ive seen it as an input but almost.. if not never as an output.
Not suprisingly Xduoo's own X10T and X10T II 'digital turntable players' have mini AES outputs. Not seen them on anything else tho...

Not the only option. There’s the FiiO Q7. How quickly you forget! For use case, there’s the frequent business traveler and there’s also use as a constant source at headphone shows. Get yourself a ddHiFi 2023 Carrying Case and you’re gtg!
As far as the Caldera goes…. They’re not hard to drive.
The Q7 and M17 were OK. But didn't work at full power portably. So they don't count if you need wall power.
@@in-earfetishIf the XD-05 Pro is running at full power portably and remaining cool (You make no mention of this), I suspect that it’s running Class D. The FiiO’s run Class AB. For me, AB > D and I can tell the difference.
In any case, I’m sticking with my Q7. It drives my 300 Ohm headphones and my most difficult to drive properly Noire’s to perfection at about 67% volume in normal mode. No need to go into high power mode.
The accessories are crazy tho’!😮. Kind of reminds me of Hart Audio!

I got this few days ago and for some reason its not detecting the streem quality of apple music which I have set on my pc to 192 KHz output ? the XD05 is only reading 48KHz on the front display? Can someone explain why please? im in the dark here
As far as I know you can’t get the highest Sound quality from Apple Music on Windows because it can’t bypass the OSmixer or Windows soundmixer. It could be that it resamples it to 48kHz like on Android.

if you mean the smaller ones, the xd05 plus could fit a single dual / stereo opamp, so don't see why xduoo would make the Pro with less clearance, but we'll see from reviews and customer feedback who will unevitably try all the opamps that exist under the sun on this... xduuo has been THE portable dac/amp brand for opamp rolling afterall.

Yo Z, actually the Ibasso DX 320 comes with 2 Rohm dac if you remember…BD34301EKV ROHM DAC chips.
I did the 240. Never got up to the 320. BUT I have heard a ton of praise
very good sound indeed with some nasty drawbacks (i think for the price given this is okay..) BUT they cut costs on parts and use instead of good quality parts (caps, resistors etc) cheap parts. also they should leave more space for Sparkos op amp SS3602 (this op amp is minimum if you want use device properly) - it fits but you must cut iron of soldering pins on that sparkos op amp on downside as it goes in contact with caps, risers wont help in that situation thats bull***t and with risers you cant get the board inside. so be careful from disinformation (there is a lot). maybe i will do some video

According to Elise Audio, the AK4499EX board is warmer, more full bodied than the ESS and ROHM boards. The Sparkos SS3602 Discrete Op-Amps are also available and elevate the performance quite substantially.
BTW 2watts class A @32ohms and 930mw @300 ohms.
The voltage on that thing must be ridiculous to only lose half its power at 10 times the resistance.
Those this dac support usb output. Would love to use it in my vehicle which have usb input only.

Its a physical disconnect for the battery. That is how you get to use it on a desk forever.

when i go to cons i throw my Xduoo plus in my pack and put on my He5xx and just walk around..you could use a legbag or fannypack and use Bluetooth to control it...this is right up my alley and it could replace my whole schiit stack
