Because of that, there is almost always a product that is better quality and cheaper than the 'youtube brand'. Just do a little bit of research before buying anything honestly.
It’s mostly digital products with close to zero cost of reproduction. It doesn’t really cost much to serve videos to another Nebula subscriber or give access to the Brilliant app. So they can afford to spend $20,000 per ad read since as long as the new subscribers outweighs the ad spend they are making profit.
Yup, products such as the Manscaped stuff are more than likely just sourced from Aliexpress at an extremely cheap price. They slap their own logo on and sell it at a huge markup. Better off just buying from reputable brands like Philips, like was mentioned in this video.
@@waz84 Philips hasn't been a reputable brand for like a decade now. They spun off or sold off all divisions except medical devices. Unless you're buying an MRI or something, it's not actually Philips. Some of it is good, like LED lighting, some of it is notoriously bad, like home appliances. I don't know where trimmers fall, but as a rule of thumb, you should be very careful and look at reviews when buying any "Philips" products now.

Wait, the VPN tries to advertise being in the USA as a positive?! The whole reason the popular ones are abroad is because other countries have less strict data collection laws! 😂 it's WORSE being in the US.
I was thinking the same thing but then there are those older, non tech people that think "everything is better made in United States of America" who don't realize that the country they love so much is the country who started creating worse products because capitalism.
VPNs aren’t inherently a scam, but I think it’s worth mentioning that the claims they have YTers make on their behalf are often untrue. Particularly the security related ones. These days they’re mostly good for circumventing geoblocks, though many of them are not good at cycling IPs and are blocked by many services
In Europe, some police and intelligence agencies can obtain a warrant to gather your browsing data from whichever VPN you're using. Be sure to check which VPN has to comply with that, because not all of them do and are marginally safer
I've tried both PIA and Manscaped. The Manscaped 4.0 cut me, and then stopped working after about 2 weeks. They refused any warranty service. I think they're cheap products that are heavily over-priced with little to no customer support. PIA has been great, I've been a subscriber for about 6 years.
PIA is based in america, which means your data IS being sent to the US government, and every other country that is part of the intelligence partnership "Five eyes". that instantly makes it the singular worst choice for a VPN, why would you use a privacy product that legally is required to share your info with western intelligence agencies.
From what I understand, "Manscaped" just puts their logo on the same cheap stuff you can find on Ali Express, gives it a stupid "manly" name like "The tractor" or "the lawnmower", or "The chainsaw" or whatever, and puts it in deluxe packaging and charges like 20 times the actual landed cost. I'd imagine the youtube sponsor approach is the only way they can get people who aren't informed enough to know that established brands already sell this stuff, and it's more reliable and cheaper too, even if they don't come in elaborate packaging.
@@rodrigoperalta822funny thing is, Philips doesn't make that shaver either. That's also a Chinese product that has a Philips logo on it for brand recognition. Phillips now exclusively produce medical equipment so only true Philips product you can buy in consumer level is their electronic toothbrushes
It is worth noting that with Air-Up your mileage will vary. Since not everyone's sense of smell is the same, it won't work the same for everyone. I've seen multiple reviews on it where they tested it with multiple people and the results were the roughly the same every time. Some people liked it and other thought it was disgusting. Another issue they ran into was different pods of the same flavor "tasting" different.
Yeah, i have seen tons of reviews for Air-up all saying it's a scam, its fake, it doesn't work etc, then there is the group of "it works but its gross, disgusting, horrible etc" and there are very few who say its actually good. Also most complain the bottles are poor quality and cost a ton.

War thunder is not scam, but probably has some unethical features for some players. I still remember when they advertised the realistic aspect of gameplay and war time period vehicle that you can play. @vanadar00 dude, 120$ for a jeans is either sone damn fine jeans, or more likely massively overpriced! You can get two or three decent pairs at your typical mall boutiqe for that price! And don't be a gatekeeping snob, you don't need to have any money to judge the quality and value of differently priced clothes! Anyone can just walk into a luxury clothes store and compare them too discounter clothes. Feeling the fabric, inspecting the stitching an trying on some clothes is free in any store, doesn't even matter if you can't afford to buy any of it! And BTW: the upper-class and many of the rich, especially the newly rich make the worst purchasing decisions when it comes to quality for the price. They often pay RIDICULOUS sums for mediocre stuff, just because they don't need to worry about the price!
@@vanadar00 You're right, you usually become rich by profiting off of others' work. And by getting lucky. But the rich can ABSOLUTELY make poor purchasing decisions, lmao. Ask Elon how his Twitter "investment" is going lmao. Also, saying that people with more money are more intelligent is so fucking funny, you should probably do a stand-up show or something.
@LRM12o8 mall boutique? what on earth is that? Express? H&M? Before you bag on those with more money, think about stitch count, denim layers, riveting, long strand cottons.... I could go on. The difference between those with more money is that they have more than money. They have intelligence. They value purchasing something that is built to last. You buy cheap, you buy twice are wise words to live by. You don't become "rich" by making poor purchasing decisions. You become *wealthy* by making investments in products that have higher initial costs and almost no long-term costs. That logic extends to material purchases as well as portfolio investments. To have the narrow-minded, poorly thought out purchasing knowledge and foresight might be the dumbest logic I've ever encountered. Sadly, that logic is far too common in groups of people who open their mouths without knowledge of the subject and its nuances. So yes, it might be out of your price range or your limited patience with clothes shopping process in general- but the smarter financial decision in this situation would be to hold off on purchasing the expensive clothing items until you have saved up the correct funds to make the purchase. If that necessitates you buy one or two cheaper pairs to make do while you save, so be it. That's the nuances of purchasing something. Please use your money more wisely and you may not have such a contemptuous view of quality merchandise. (Disclaimer: Luxury brands such as Gucci, LV, Prada...etc are NOT clothing items that wealthy people would prioritize...ever. I am talking about brands that are in the higher quality market but don't rely on their brand name or logos to sell their products. True quality doesn't need to advertise, it sells itself.)
@vanadar00 IMO, it's still way too expensive, though I've almost exclusively bought clothes when there's a sale. Paying €100+ for some jeans is just wild to me lmao
I've used stitchfix before and it is nice. But I know he got annoyed, but they used to have a price range option where you can make sure everything is cheaper
I've used them a couple of times, first time styling was meh, I kept a shirt because it really fit me well, a pair of vans and sent back the rest, the second time the brands I liked were gone and all they sent me was old man stuff allegedly $50+ on each thing. I sent everything back. I've found a better sense of style at target 💀
I'm not shocked that someone would spend $119 for basic grey jeans when people spent like $800ish on a pair of jeans with a "piss stain" for the look..
Tbh I could well imagine that the average person employing an "expert" stylist to make their wardrobe doesn't mind expensive pants. But the whole idea of Stitch fix is weird to me. I could understand videocalling a stylist to help you make your style more coherent or find pieces that fit your taste or physique better than what you could find at wherever you've been shopping so far, but getting these semi-random and frankly rather generic clothing pieces sent to you, picked by a stylist who jever even saw a photo of you, that's just weird! There's no personality to it at all! I'm by no means into fashion (and certainly not into mainstream fashion), but I've seen videos if several different RUclipsrs with very different personalities testing/advertising stitch fix and literally EVERYTHING I've seen looked boring and not like their personal style to me (sometimes like they've been put in a costume), even though most of them claimed they loved the style or at leadt some pieces. Idk, I find the whole concept of having someone else select your clothes for you weird. Whether you like it (and realize it), or not, your clothing style says quite a bit about you: - Do you care about fashion (and your appearance in general)? - Do you prefer looks, comfort, or practicality? (-> are you more pragmatic or aesthetic minded? Do you do handywork or rugged outdoor activities? Are you an outdoor or indoor person?) - What kind of colors do you like (bright, dark, bold, soft, colorful or neutral tones)? This can give a hint about whether you're outgoing and into party/action, or like calm activities - Do you like to stand out or blend in with the crowd? (-> extrovert/introvert) - Do your clothes promote interests/messages that are important to you? (Eg. Political messages and symbols, religious symbols, LGBTQ* colors, pictures/character from popular media) Tge clothes you select can say so much about you, even if you just buy five examples of the first trouser/shirt/etc. That feels comfortable and good quality:performance to you. So what does having someone else select your clothes suggest about your personality? That you have none of your own? That you're trying to look like someone you're not? 🥶
He needed something truly awful, so the rest of the stuff he endorsed wouldn't look quite as bad in comparison, so the video would feel a little bit less like an ad.
Manscaped isn't a scam, it's just horrible value and predatory tactics. You can buy all the products in store for less, they're subpar quality and they have the gall to try trick you into a $20 per quarter subscription you'll forget about.
its definitely more entertaining than informative, him saying stitch fix is good when it was just made in chaiwan clothes for 400 USD tells you everything. if you want informative, I think you can yourself infer that anything a youtuber sponsors is either a scam, or a mediocre product with an insanely high price.
@@selectionn And like, there's other youtubers out there actually trying these out and giving honest reviews. Usually the consensus is "it 'works', but is so overpriced to not be worth it".

That AI one at the end is especially egregious, because we've HEARD better ai renditions of those voices before. Ai presidents playing games together nailed the voices, and that thing is just using generic Text-To-Speech for that kind of money?
Manscaped is a scam. My razer died 1.5 years after I got it. Contacted manscaped and they said there's nothing they could do other than give me a 15% discount to buy a new one. It turns out that their claiming water resistant is total bullshit. Water gets inside to the internal electronics and completely destroys it. There's tons of stories like this one on reddit.
I have a Proton Mail subscription and have basically been using Proton VPN as my primary VPN because they come bundled, works great, tons of servers to choose from. Super basic application though
He didn't talk about Manscapped spamming you with emails every two days or that the subscription regularity can be increased or decreased from ever 1 month to every 12 months but there is no cancel option, you actually have to email them of cancel the payment via your bank. In the UK the 3 monthly payment taken is also £33 so that's more for the sub than all the items in the Ultimate pack. One final thing he touched on is it's the default option so you have to opt out of the subscription rather than opt in
I did PIA for 2 years and had constant issues with Disney plus. I could only reach it through a different country about 20% of the time. I ended up switching to Nord over a year in, and I haven't had a single issue with any streaming services
Annoyingly part of the selling point for airup, at least for a period of time, was to use this to come of soda drinks. Both me and my wife tried it. Did not work for us. I am a heavy soda drinker, she is not. I think it also comes down to how your nose works I guess. I personally would say the airup is a scam. The effects are not to the level they claim on the website. £150 down the drain. The water bottles are also bad for sealing the water, so dont even work as good water bottles.
I don't drink a lot of soda mostly squash, I tried it and it just doesn't work for me at all for some reason. I have a really good sense of smell too. That said, while I understad the complaints about the water bottle "not sealing" the product literally wouln't work if it did. That's why it has a lid. So I completely disagree with everyone who gives the bottle crap for that.
I worried about that myself. the bottle itself doesn't look good enough at holding or keeping water cold. also life is short, drink what makes you happy- just also drink some water sometimes lol
He's part of the problem. Most of us already realized how dumb it is to have so many subscriptions. I have 3 subscriptions and I have access to way more content (music/movies/series) than him. People should stop subscribing for access to small amounts of content and look at the less popular bundled services.
13:49 warthunder has fixed the issues with repair costs but it’s still grindy. If you want to play your Sherman’s and P51s you just need 5-10 hours in game but jets and modern tanks get a little silly
@raxadian because being overpriced doesn't make it a scam! Doesn't matter the price/performance, as long as you get exactly what you were promised for exactly the price you were told, it does not meet the definition of a scam. Just like lots of people use the word "literally" wrong, many don't know the difference between a bad deal and a scam anymore. 💁♂️ A scam is when: you don't get the product, or the product does not do what it was promised to do (for example exaggerated battery life or esoteric bogus promises), or the product comes with hidden costs and/or crazy, extortionate terms of service (for instance hard to cancel subscription, or the product being unusable without an unnecessary subscription, like "hp instant ink")
8:01 There aren’t any firm guidelines about how much water can kill you, but drinking more than a liter (L) or so per hour for several hours isn’t something doctors recommend. Symptoms of water intoxication tend to start appearing after you consume more than 3 to 4 L of water in a few hours.
I remember, maybe a made up story, of a radio station running a competition of who could drink the most water and someone ended up dying. This was like decades ago, so no way to verify.
Used to watch new guys over hydrate at the Foundry I worked at its worse on you than being dehydrated they would out and start flopping on the 500 degree sand and we woul have to drag them out all burned up we drilled it into don't drink the free Gatorade just freeze two gallons of water and drink it as it melts over your 10hr shift and you will be better off
The worst part of games sponsorships is the influencer just reading the script and pretending they "play" the game and "join my squad" etc. When they have NEVER played the game once outside of shooting the advert. All the kids watching them believe them unfortunately
You don't ever have to spend money on War Thunder to reload weapons, repair your plane, play a match, etc. Yes it's hella grindy to level up vehicles and crew. Yes you can spend money to boost that. But it's never required.
My dad has been playing the game for about a year and a half, He's at the second highest rank, and he still enjoys the game without ever spending a dime.
If you're really into learning all the soft spots on the tanks, etc.. you can do some major damage without spending any money. I think it's great for military nerds since all the vehicle models are super detailed and you can beat your average paypig for free if you dedicate some time and you are into that sort of thing.
$3/day for the Air Up pods is wild. Just get the little "flavor enhancer" things from Walmart/Target/Amazon that have virtually no ingredients in them and you'll spend literally pennies each day for a better-tasting drink.
I fell for the Raycons ad and it was the E25 everyday true wireless buds and the left earbud got really quiet then stopped working about a year into purchase which, at the time, was right after when the warranty ran out.
Nothing is more frustrating when a company offers free shipping when you spend a certain amount, but then make the threshold a few cents more than what they know most people are gonna order. So scummy.
realistically those scent pods at 1.3 galloons would only last maybe 2 days (since the average healthy intake of water for a person is 1 gallon per day), but since they're a scent pod and not flavor one they probably last longer as the smell lessens over time as the scent evaporates.
That gallon of liquid intake also includes the water you'd intake through food, so you absolutely shouldn't be drinking a gallon of water a day, unless you're working something incredibly physically intensive or in a very hot climate.
@@keithwoodcrest idk where you got that info from but it's wrong. Every health related website with a simple google search says: it's 15.5cups (basically a gallon) for men and like 11.5 (close to 3L) for female for healthy intake of water. 6-8 cups is closer to the absolute bare minimum intake just to survive, which really isn't healthy intake since you're gonna feel like shit if you don't drink more.
The airup is really expensive for water bottles that arent even good. If you put the cap on it and you flip it upside down, lets say in a bag and thav bag rolls around in your backseat, the bottle will leak so when you take off the cap water will come out. So the water bottle doesent hold water well.
Stitch Fix is nice because it is putting you in nicer brands than you would normally buy. I had a friend that worked for them and loved it. The problem is that the average person isn't used to paying for that quality of clothes, aka $119 for a pair of pants. That is what you are going to pay for above average clothing. Think how Buckle has most of their jeans well over $100, they are a higher quality than the cheaper brands.
@@Captain-J-Amadaeus And that is entirely okay. The nice thing is, you don't have to choose to use the service. You wouldn't be looking into personal shopper services if you were not able to pay that much for clothes. You can also speak with the stylist when setting up the account to make sure they are choosing more budget friendly options. The whole service is fully customizable. The other nice part is you don't have to keep any of the clothes, just send them back. Then you can look for similar styles when you are shopping next and still not have to pay out a ton.
1:57 i gotta tell you... Of all the things you can get from manscaped, the crop preserver is AMAZING. I wear kilts, and it helps with sweat, chafing, etc. Also the newspaper is meant for putting on the floor, you stand on it while using the trimmers and then ball it up and throw it away. It catches all of your hair trimmings.
the issue with airup is that the effects of the taste from the scent pods is very subjective for many reasons. i tried it, and some of the flavors tasted like vomit. other people have tried it and they swear by it. even if i did like it, i cant get behind it because of how wasteful it is. you are buying a reusable bottle with not-so-reusable pods. you have to purchase more and create more waste if you want the bottle to work as intended. and for that reason, i will never own one myself. just drink water.
Personally, I do have an AirUp bottle at home that I use daily. It doesn't work for everyone, and when it does, it does at different degrees, because it's based on how your smell works, but for me I fell in love with it.
It's always fun to watch you and your team risk life and limb to review questionably needed items so we don't have to. Next, maybe take a deep dive into the effectiveness of Bear Spray on real bears?
LTT did that for an April fools 2 years ago? Just like 10 sponsors mixed into a joke video that was just to have the ads and he confirmed they all paid. I can only assume it was really discounted though.
The reason you would select what size you wear and whether it's too big or too small it's because not everybody fits in one size a lot of times they have to pick a size that fits them in a way they can wear even though they're in between sizes
This is like the Jackaass movies, except instead of living vicariously and laughing at someone else's stupidity (and not having to do any of it myself), I get to watch someone else pay for farkles. Thank you for your service, Austin

VPNs aren’t inherently a scam, but I think it’s worth mentioning that the claims they have YTers make on their behalf are often untrue. Particularly the security related ones.

I'd imagine the youtube sponsor approach is the only way they can get people who aren't informed enough to know that established brands already sell this stuff, and it's more reliable and cheaper too, even if they don't come in elaborate packaging.

It is worth noting that with Air-Up your mileage will vary. Since not everyone's sense of smell is the same, it won't work the same for everyone. @vanadar00 dude, 120$ for a jeans is either sone damn fine jeans, or more likely massively overpriced! You can get two or three decent pairs at your typical mall boutiqe for that price!

@LRM12o8
mall boutique? what on earth is that? Express?

I spat out my drink multiple times on that Stitch Fix box. $119 FOR GREY JEANS??!! And after a 4 hour quiz. Holy hell.
Whether you like it (and realize it), or not, your clothing style says quite a bit about you:
- Do you care about fashion (and your appearance in general)?
- Do you prefer looks, comfort, or practicality? (-> are you more pragmatic or aesthetic minded? Do you do handywork or rugged outdoor activities? Are you an outdoor or indoor person?)
- What kind of colors do you like (bright, dark, bold, soft, colorful or neutral tones)? This can give a hint about whether you're outgoing and into party/action, or like calm activities
- Do you like to stand out or blend in with the crowd? (-> extrovert/introvert)
- Do your clothes promote interests/messages that are important to you? (Eg. Political messages and symbols, religious symbols, LGBTQ* colors, pictures/character from popular media)
Tge clothes you select can say so much about you, even if you just buy five examples of the first trouser/shirt/etc. That feels comfortable and good quality:performance to you. So what does having someone else select your clothes suggest about your personality? That you have none of your own? That you're trying to look like someone you're not? 🥶
Quality:price, not quality: performance, of course. 😅

@raxadian because being overpriced doesn't make it a scam! realistically those scent pods at 1.3 galloons would only last maybe 2 days (since the average healthy intake of water for a person is 1 gallon per day), but since they're a scent pod and not flavor one they probably last longer as the smell lessens over time as the scent evaporates.
I tried air up and idk if I'm dumb or not but it absolutely did not work. It just tasted like water
That gallon of liquid intake also includes the water you'd intake through food, so you absolutely shouldn't be drinking a gallon of water a day, unless you're working something incredibly physically intensive or in a very hot climate.
A gallon a day?
The recommended healthy intake for water is 6-8 cups a day. A gallon is 16 cups.
Stitch Fix is nice because it is putting you in nicer brands than you would normally buy. I had a friend that worked for them and loved it. The problem is that the average person isn't used to paying for that quality of clothes, aka $119 for a pair of pants. That is what you are going to pay for above average clothing. Think how Buckle has most of their jeans well over $100, they are a higher quality than the cheaper brands.

the issue with airup is that the effects of the taste from the scent pods is very subjective for many reasons. i tried it, and some of the flavors tasted like vomit. other people have tried it and they swear by it. even if i did like it, i cant get behind it because of how wasteful it is. you are buying a reusable bottle with not-so-reusable pods. you have to purchase more and create more waste if you want the bottle to work as intended. and for that reason, i will never own one myself. just drink water.
