I prefer Thai Kickboxing, this ISK is like PKA , not leg kicks, which to me seems ridiculous. Thai might be too extreme for some, but they should at least allow leg kicks.
I'm laying here from ankle surgery I'm very thankful for these videos you post I never had the pleasure to watch jean-yves in person I'm glad see these videos and see what a master kickboxer he was thank you for these videos I appreciate them.
Leo de Snoo was an upcoming talent but was mainly trained in Muay Thai. The ISKA rules (kicks above the waist) + the extra rounds took a tire out of De Snoo on this one. It wasn't tactics, and Jean would've had a different fight if knees and lower leg kicks were allowed. But de Snoo had a lot of heart and potential. 20 won bouts, 2x Thaiboxing champion, he fought Kaman, Hoost, Peter 'Hurricane' Smit. He sadly passed a couuple of years ago. I used to go to school with one of his sons. Please let's pay our respects to Leo de Snoo RIP ~ we won't forget you!
ISK and PKA with no leg kicks is just wrong, poor Snoo looked like he was afraid to fight after the reprimands, it also looked like he felt egged' on by Jean's raised left leg when he kicked it right at the start. 15:30 Ref miscalls this 'sweep' , he counted it as a kick ...:
Snoo was never going to win, losing so many points on neglect ? of the ISKA rules clearly known by him. Later on it seemed to me he was willing to lose points to try for a knockout, but once realised he couldnt ko Theriault, maybe...maybe...took the disqualification to look for a 'pseudo loss' rather than stand there and have Theriault have a clear points win (or even a potential late ko by Theriault given Snoo looked pretty tired). Shame, cos Snoo clearly had some guts and talent, but was outclassed in ISKA rules.
Actually, in that first round.....De Snoo's corner buying him extra time with that mouthpiece fiasco was a sign of a good cornerman. Still, the youngster obviously discounted Theriault's power and really paid for it in the fight....but still, the guy hung in there when some of those punches he absorbed would have ended the fight with a lesser fighter.
jean yves a 35 ans n'est plus le meme combattant qu'a sa grande epoque et sans cette discalification il aurrai perdu son combat rien que par son manque de coup de pieds mais quelle puissance surtout dans ses poings
Thank you for bringing us these jewels.
Thanks!
I miss this style of kickboxing it sucks you don't see this America in 2023

Jean Yves Theriault: Sobre, droit, intelligent = Un champion humble et efficace
What brand of shoes was that Dutch fella wearing? They don't seem to have very good traction.
