    Prior to this match, In the same year Rick Rufus defeated Rob Kaman. What surprised me was the physical change of Rufus for this match, the pronounced muscularity and strength that was not there in the earlier match of the same year, but it was a mistake. He was stiff and far less mobile than before and it cost him a lot of the defeat.

    Rick Roufus was only 28 years old and Ernesto 29 in 1994. I think Ernesto Hoost is the best kickboxer of all times in my opinion. I remember the KO against Changpuek who was top muai fighter.

    • @jiboo6850
      @jiboo6850 2 года назад +5

      just to put things in to perspective, all the big boys from any fighting style were afraid of Ernesto. just because he had the hardest/sharpest shinbones ever. ti was like getting hit with a baseball bat. no meat around the shinbones. he had small calves and was pretty skinny. his technique and tactic were so good that he could defeat anybody even bigger than him. this is how insanely tough he was. even if you wanted to kick his leg to force him not to use it, you could reach pain before him getting his leg painful. simply Mr Perfect.

      You should go back and revisit that fight. Sapp won the bout yes, but Hoost beat up Sapp so bad, he couldn’t continue to the next round. Hoost became Grand champion. Hoost wasn’t unbeatable, but he fought all takers and won most of his fights. Hoost is considered the GOAT by many, including myself.
      Ps. Sapp wasn’t a good fighter at all, he was just a brawler who used his size. Hoost was an extremely skilled and technical fighter.

      @@yongjiean9980 IMO, real kickboxing is all the main forms of kickboxing combined (karate,savate,muay thai, sanda etc). This includes sweeps, elbows, knees, throws etc.
      At least let people throw legkicks, knees and give them the ability to clinch

      I don't think he was past his prime in this one. This bout was definitely before K-1 USA "98" which Rick won.

      Snake Plissken compare his moves and series in this fight and later with pre 1989 fights. It's two different fighters. I guess when he fought Changpuek Kiatsongrit he got serious injuries and was never the same since. Branko Cikatic won K-1 in 1994 when he was 39 years old but it doesn't mean it was his prime

    whats really funny is Roufas put on 30lbs in such a short time in a 3 year time span he went from a junior middleweight to a heavyweight that's 7 weight divisions in the Kickboxing ranks for those who might now
