No fancy moves from Jean just excellent basics. That's all it takes. Love that front kick. Excellent straight punches down the pipe. One of my favorite kick boxers.
This was an extremely exciting fight both of them swinging for the fences jean-yves stayed inside the pocket very well slipping punches and countering very well , I think Kerry had trouble seeing probably had blood in his eye. Both men were fine examples of the champions they were.
Was always a big fan of Jean Yves. Followed Kerry Roop's career too. If you have any more of Jean Yves fights to upload it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
A great Kickboxer not forgetting he's a great boxer also... It's only now I'm beginning to understand bettering my own techniques to suit myself and watching Jean Yves Theriault training is a reminder of when I travelled to Canada on two occasions to train with him... What a pleasure and Thanks!
Both look to be not only masters in their art but true sportsman!! It's one thing to root for someone as is to root against someone; here I was pulling for Jean Yves but certainly not rooting against Kerry. Class acts both:)😊
Roop was a very good fighter, strong punches kicks. But Theriault just as determined, good impact on his techniques, and Ive always felt especially his timing was what put him above others around that time, including Roop here. (Perhaps only Don Wilson and Bill Wallace had that degree of timing).
Theriault ..the first Canadian MMA Champion. I remember this fight..never heard so much favouritism from 2 broadcasters…J-Y was probably sparring harder than this fight..

Great fight. I watched it at .75 speed. It really helps me. These guys are fast!
When I was around 9, I took lessons from his school and can confirm he’s a great guy who still is super strong

Therriault's style of not letting his opponent breathe was amazing. Roop gave him everything he had, but Therriault was relentless.
