Nowadays, no more acrobatic landings and special pilots certification for this from old Kai Tak Airport that closed in 1998 after decades of activity activity transfered then to newly built Chek Lap Kok Hong Kong International Airport (HKG) on Lantau Island, which offers more extensive runways, 24-hour operation, and modern facilities.
Goodness! This has got to be one of the most spectacular approaches into Hong Kong I have seen! The mix of green mountains, bridges, buildings and crystal blue waters are just gorgeous!

I was lucky (or am old) enough to experience a real Kai Tak landing!! Well, lucky for the experience, at the time it was bloody terrifying 😃! Love Hong Kong.
My auntie used to be a big figure within Marlboro cigarettes business in Asia, and was based with my uncle and cousins in Hong Kong. One day she walked us down to a private jetty on the island and there was a fully fledged yacht, waiting to take us around the entire island whilst flying the Marlboro flag. It was an experience I’ll never forget! That time we stayed at the Excelsior on the island the first time and the Marco Polo in Tsim Sha Tsui
The video remind me when I landed at Kai Tak Airport that time on Singapore Airline Boeing 747 many years ago. It was a scary moment whem I looked frm the window the wing tip almost touched the building on both side of the plane. The plane had to ajort the 1st landing and shoot up fir the 2nd attempt which was successful. Thanks for the video good job.

Amazing high resolution camera! Hong Kong is a nice example of the global problem of people creating congested urban area, conurbations, because they can earn paper money. Village life was killed by robots.
Construction will not end until the new T2 is complete, and the second runway (still closed) is reconfigured and brought back up. Even when all that is complete, T1 will probably get updates due to being 30+ years old. Just several years after the airport opened in 1998, expansions were already beginning. Hong Kong doesn't really stop building...it's too densely populated to stay still; things wear down and age very quickly with such heavy use, and the tropical climate doesn't help.
Good aerial panoramic view,, BUT nothing can b perfect without orientation direction demonstration-----which requires deliberated geographic knowledge to describe ,,, anyhow,, still quite of impressive bird's eye view video,,,
did anyone tried to look at the windows to see landmarks? Whenever the plane circles around, I always tried to spot my old home, school, and expressways😁

Same. First time I landed in Kai Tak in 1992 it was like a flying between apartment building's. Surreal and scary.

Have been to Hong Kong just one time back in 2008. It was a wonderful trip! Wish I could go again, but it probably won't happen.
