It is nice to see him get some appreciation. He just made people lose their minds. I remember that lady writing the letter.
What folks forget is that the same drive he had gotten sacked. And the player that sacked him did the Hotline Bling dance over him while he was on the ground. But no one wrote him a letter.
Cam is the only athlete I go up for. Carolina’s front office did not do what they needed to do for him. They never replaced Gross. He took a WR group of Ginn, rookie Funchess, Cotchery, and Philly Brown to a Super Bowl. Olsen was an amazing TE. But that’s it.
Yes sir
if cam had 1 good wide receiver and a stable franchise for all the seasons he was at carolina he'd be way more than js an mvp
PREACH
Solid production quality for such a small channel. Can gets too much disrespect.
thanks! and very much agreed
Solid video and take. Keep it up, brother. Your channel is fire 🔥
I feel like we forget that Cam Newton had Benjamin as his wr1, if benjamin was a good player they would have been a dog
It was a fun 1 season when he was good
Benjamin was good, he was just lazy and liked that southern food too much.
Cam used to force passes to him. He wanted KB to be great. Funny enough, it’s actually kinda sorta KB’s fault that his shoulder got initially busted. On a 50/50 ball, KB got outmuscled by a much smaller DB (which happened WAY TOO OFTEN FOR A DUDE HIS SIZE, but I digress). The ball hit KB in his hands. He had it! And just…didn’t fight for it.
DB goes in to try for a pick 6. KB does nothing to stop the DB. Cam himself ran down the field. Ran him out of bounds on that play. And that’s when he injured his shoulder.
#JA17 had Stefon Diggs, Gabe Davis who pumped up his numbers more than Benjamin could help Cam
As a broncos fan, all I remember of cam newton is when he decided not to jump on the fumble. Greatest day of my football fan life.
lol I'm sure that was your best football day ever. but would Peyton, Eli manning, phillip rivers, tom brady have dove under demarcus ware for a fumble? I don't blame QBs for avoiding hits
Excellent video Brother
thanks for watching man
Anthony Richardson is his clone in the makin. Im pickin Cam Newton over Dak with my last brain cell ya feel me
Dude I remember he would get hit in the knees along with a few others but never got calls 🤣🤣
yes! refs seemed to legit hate Cam
Kurt Warner showed no hate, he just offered a fair critique. Cam was a phenomenal athlete and the worry is always that they will learn too hard athleticism and stunt their development as a QB. In the end Kurt was right, Cam was great, but he never became a Brady, Mahomes, Manning.
I liked the critique of Allen. He has been very inconsistent. Shown sparks of greatness with high volatility.
The point is more just how negatively viewed running QBs are, and now we have guys like Lamar and Josh Allen who the media love for being such dynamic runners. If Cam played today the hate would be lesser I'd guess
@@DraftingUnicorns I agree on that. I think in Allen I see more potential for him to play more like mahomes where it seemed Cam was always going to be a big runner, and those guys are a few hits away from losing it all or as their athleticism fades they drop off quickly. But Allen is more unfairly loved at the moment on his potential. I also hold doubts about Lamar even though he’s enjoyable to watch play.
I think in the end you want a QB that can scramble but that is scheme master and has a big arm, and touch on the his passes.
Looking forward to more of your work.
I'm rooting hard as I can for Lamar and Josh Allen to have long healthy careers, it sucked seeing Cam just go down with injury and then all the haters hop on and say he was never good. and thanks man, appreciate the support!
@@DraftingUnicorns I agree
Trust and believe Cam Newton will not let you forget how great he was. He literally talks about it every possible chance he gets. Rest assured.
Yeah I have heard him massively overrate his current ability as being starter level in the league as of like right now, which is of course silly. But I mean, what ex athlete DOESN'T think they can still ball? After his shoulder went out in Carolina the first time before NE, it was over. but, Prime Cam really was so despised during his great years, that it seems like many people didn't realize he was so unbelievably great and impactful as a player. He's def got silly takes, but most ex athletes seem to have pretty dumbass takes
The way he folded in SB50 sealed his fate. He may have been great, but after that he was just another QB.
Great QB. Definitely over hated. That 2015 season was magical. That said, not sure if his career was long enough and saw enough sustained success at the QB position for the HOF. I just don’t think 1 NFC championship, an MVP season, and a few pro bowls is enough.
Great video. I enjoyed the modern comparisons to Josh and Lamar.
There are players in the HOF with much less
thanks! much appreciated
I think the hate came from the loss in the Superbowl. People expected a franchised QB to jump on a ball and risk injury lol stupid tbh. Since then his demeanor and style rubbed off as immature. Seemed like he wasnt focused on winning. After his shoulder injury it was hard for him to throw deep. Which didnt help the narrative that he was a "running back playing QB"
100% agreed. here is your 'knows ball' sticker
After that Super bowl vs Broncos OF COURSE we forgot! lmao
Peyton Manning got his ass whooped in a Super Bowl, nobody defines him by that Seahawks loss. Aaron Rodgers' MVP threepeat isn't nullified by a couple bad playoff games. Tom Brady had multiple playoff games with 4 interceptions. I think Cam is getting stuck with the shitty end of a double standard here
It’s a fallacy that people perform better when they’re having fun. Thats not inherently true, and sometimes flat out wrong.
Disagree- I've learned in psych that enjoying activities stimulates the brain and helps it pay attention. I'll reference some sources I find credible. I don't think there's any debate about this among researchers

Cam newton is the best qb in a lifetime! Cam is Vick with size
hell ya
I mean, for Carolina he was great. But Carolina hasn't really had elite talent at that position. You're talking about comparing Newton to the likes of Matt Moore and Kerry Collins. Maybe the best comparison being Jake Delhomme, who matched Newton on most of his successes. However I still think Newton gets the edge due to his dual threat capability.
That comparison was just that the rest of the franchise hasn't changed much, it's all looking so disastrous. But Cam turned that losing franchise into a 15-1 season, Super Bowl appearance, MVP season. He's definitely more comparable to Josh Allen turning the bills franchise around, or Lamar Jackson's running impact schematically. He is still this franchise's all time most impactful player (though not best, thanks to Luke Kuechly)
@@DraftingUnicorns There's a fine line between questioning someone's character and character assassinations. I see a similar situation with Caleb Williams right now, although his criticisms are imo far more deserved than Cam's was (I won't speak on it here though).
I care more about production on the field than anything else. So when some beat critic writes about how a player dresses or celebrates after touchdowns, that means almost nothing to me. The only thing I personally have against Newton is his NFL career was a short 1 year peak and he fell just short of capturing a ring. If he had won that ring, or put up MVP-type numbers for more than one year, I don't think you would have even had to make this video.
Also I don't think Josh Allen really turned the Bills around though. Not on his own. Most people said he was a underachiever until Diggs showed up. He became a completely different player after that.
Definitely, QBs cannot turn around teams entirely on their own. but I'd certainly say the biggest difference between bad Bills and good Bills is Josh Allen, same with the Panthers and Cam. They can take what a team actually has and make use of it. I also think it's very true Josh Allen became much better with Diggs, receivers make QBs look and play better. What if Cam had Diggs for 3 years? I don't think he had anything comparable, other than old Steve Smith who dominated with Cam. The Carolina supporting cast was typically awful on offense, like the best they gave Cam was an average receiving core. I just think he's responsible for carrying them to so many wins few other QBs could make happen
@@DraftingUnicorns I don't think Carolina's front office did Cam any favors with the supporting cast (of lack thereof) they surrounded him with. Except maybe some good running backs. DeAngelo Williams and that other guy (forgot his name). I think they're perhaps helping Bryce Young now better than they've helped others in the past. Diontae Johnson is great receiver. He can have questionable hands at times but he's probably the best separator in the league. Not saying that will fix all your problems because I don't really know what your problems are. But it's a step in the right direction.
FOR 1 SEASON he was great... NOT A MEMORABLE time in NFL HISTORY...
Kendrick Perkins level take 💀💀
for 1 season he was GOAT tier, the rest of his prime he was still all time great. Especially being top 5 all time running QB
@@DraftingUnicorns How many "running QB's" win a SB??? That is like being the SMARTEST kid with autism... just ask Lamar!
That is a point worth looking into, but not the point I'm trying to make- just saying Cam had an all time elite peak and that people under-appreciate him. I also wouldn't blame individual QBs for that, Super Bowls are won by TEAMS. Offensive line play and defense have an amplified importance in the playoffs
@@DraftingUnicorns You make a solid point and I am willing to admit my taste for Cam Newton was tainted by his personal choices.
I think that your kinda kissing up to him...he was great dont get me wrong but not HOF level and he played for the patriots to
Players careers aren't defined by how they play after near career ending shoulder surgeries, that Pats tenure was way past what Cam's prime was, and their team sucked. Prime Cam Newton, like 6-7 years, was an all time great, and a top 5 all time running QB. His supporting cast held his stats back so so bad, but his impact and way he changed how we accept runners at QB is HOF worthy
No, you over evaluate his career.
why isn't Cam good then?
He was a little overrated.
How
So was your mom
@@wyodrifter5539 Stay safe on the internet.
@@johnhatchel9681Stay dumb on the internet lol
I really think most people view him as less than who he was. His running ability was so so stupid elite and his explosive downfield throws were just like Josh Allen
