    Been browsing around for basic pattern making and this video
    has a much better comprehensive way of guidance on how to
    make a basic pattern! No too much talking but simply doing
    it with written data that I can easily pause and take note of!
    Very helpful indeed!
    Thank you for sharing, be visiting your channel often! I'm
    a beginner, a retired, and would like to learn sewing for the
    first time, by myself thru YT!

    I love the fit of this pattern!
    one note: on 5:23 you wrote *bust depth/2* by mistake when it should be just the bust depth measurement, since your measurement is 7.5 inches. I faced the issue when i was drafting so i thought i would share.
    Thanks!!

    • @maryblack6833
      @maryblack6833 8 месяцев назад

      Bust depth/2 means to do the same thing for the other side of the front to get the dart so that the dart is on both sides of the front.

    I found this tutorial so easy to follow, although I had to alter the playback speed to keep up whilst reading the measurements.
    Usually I am an inches person, but in this tutorial it was easier to follow in metric, all this •7” •3” etc is too head spinning for me.
    The bust depth measurement was an eye opener for me, I do not recall seeing any other tutorial on RUclips doing it this way.
    Folding the bust dart down is interesting, by folding on the middle line first it makes it look much easier. I was beginning to get confused, but what was done made sense.
    It is interesting to see that the same amount you go up to shape the sides at the bottom, you measure the same amount down on the centre seams, I learnt this for the first time yesterday after seeing someone else do it, by seeing it done again by someone else confirms it.
    I have watched many, many tutorials, but I have never seen them do this.
    I would be very interested to watch the video of a Princess seam (armhole) bodice pattern being done.

      @@sewingwithkhanh, hi, I have a question. When you draw your front bodice pattern, the shoulder to waist is 40cm. When you draw your back bodice pattern, you take the length of shoulder to waist from front bodice pattern but it become 37cm, can you explain this ?
      It’s because you deducted 3 cm for side dart for front bodice ?

    Thankyou for an easy to follow pattern making. I like it, especially when you added how to measure , formular and why. Iam trying to make Vietnamese Ao Dai and couldnt understand most of you tube videos. I would use your techniques except the arms since ao dai has ragland (? spelling) arms.
    If you could use the same teaching techniques to show how to make ao dai that would be great for most of us newbies. Thanks

    Le tracé de ce patron est correct dans l'ensemble à condition d'avoir une silhouette standard, sinon les débutantes seront incapables d'avoir un patron correct pour elles, si elles ont par ex une forte poitrine. Pour celles que ça intéresse, je précise les choses suivantes :
    - pour la mesure du corsage devant, il vaut mieux commencer de l'encolure jusqu'à la taille, en passant par la pointe poitrine, de cette façon, il n'y pas besoin de rallonger le bas du corsage. Le dos ne pose pas problème, on mesure tout droit (puisqu'il n'y a pas de volume poitrine dans le dos !)
    - Rajouter 1 cm au tour de buste devant (bust/4 +1) correspond à un bonnet B, en même temps celà permet à la couture de côté de ne pas être décalé. Si on fait un bonnet plus grand, on peut rajouter 2 cm par ex et retrancher la même valeur au dos
    - Si on a une très forte poitrine, il vaut mieux mesurer en deux temps, la moitié devant (pour avoir la vrai largeur du corsage) puis le dos séparément. Le dessin pourra vous sembler bizarre, mais quand on a des épaules étroites et un bonnet E, ça peut ne pas ressembler du tout au patron de la vidéo et c'est normal
    - La même chose est valable si on a du ventre ou des fesses. Sinon, on peut prendre une mesure supplémentaire à 10 cm au dessous de la taille pour vraiment élargir au bon endroit. Souvent on n'arrive pas à rectifier un patron, parce que le dessin de base ne donne pas ces explications.

    Hi.nice video.how is your schoulder to waist measurment in the front 40cm and in the back 37cm?

    • @sewingwithkhanh
      @sewingwithkhanh  Год назад

      its a standart, generally back part is shorter; from what I gathered from books and online tutorial, front is allways longer of 2 or 3 cm, depending with what side you start. You add 3 cm because you have to add some room for the chest. Miind that for the video she used a standart for the darts too. For waist darts, bust minus waist equals the space you have to substract and you distribute with the darts (generally it's the empty space that forms in your lower back), total are 7 (depending on the books), but you can just do 4, two back and two front. Hope it helps.
