A fun and boppy track to follow Stairway, love Robert’s vocals and how he plays with/alongside the instruments until he lets rip with that scream! Such a great album.
Robert Plant definitely knew about the counterculture and the fight to legalize pot. He took part in two protest marches for the legalization of cannabis in 1967 and 1968 in the Midlands of England. I have a copy of a photo of him and a small group of protesters with signs.
his song is about a legalize pot rally that was held in Hyde Park, London. Sometimes Robert would introduce it in concert as "What can happen when you get caught with rolling papers in your pocket". The title is a reference to the Misty Mountains in Tolkien's work. The musical construction happened while they were jamming at Headley Grange and Jimmy found he had the opening to what would become this song; Jonesy helped work up the chords and chorus and they were off!
Also, Plant often referred to his beloved Welsh mountains as The Misty Mountains. If he was “packin’ his bags”, to get away from the pressure, bet he was headed for Wales.
@@helenespaulding7562 Tolkien modelled the Misty Mountains in his books after the mountain range in Snowdonia, Wales because he used to explore through Wales, just as Robert's family had.
@@henriettaskolnick4445 cool. I knew Tolkien used certain places in England as a template for The Shire, but was not aware of the Snowdonia connection. Makes absolute sense. Thanks my friend! 😁
@@helenespaulding7562 always welcome 🙂. In addition, Tolkien based some of the elvish language on Welsh; not actual words, but the tones, flow, and sounds.
WoW i found it very interesting that another reactor reacting to this song said Robert Plant IS rapping i had never thought of it that way before BUT hey why not man cuz they can & they DO everything ha **Luvit** heh F YEA!!! "I believe it's all a state of mind" So luv that line YAY!!! **RockON!!!*
Not one of my favorites, but as I said, not something you hate either. There’s only a couple, that wouldn’t be in my top 20, & top 20 isn’t even much of a list considering all their great songs. Thanks once again.
This is the one you maybe skip after the first few listens of the album.... Until it gets under your skin. Seeing this Live (in person) though this is a wall of sound and drums that just take over your brain.
It's a fun song about a real event (in London) about legalizing pot that Robert took part in. I love his vocals in this one too. I think it will grow on you as you listen to the album and become more familiar with it. Who knows, one day you may find yourself singing along to it lol.

A quirky brilliant song that takes a few listens and then it sinks in ..
Zep Funk.
Assuming Stairway was denied and blocked?
@debbiephillips4163Yup. Strange. Not sure how it got buried in my subscription feed.

@@henriettaskolnick4445 that I knew. Also, I heard Finnish was also used in that way.
