Although it was released in '71, my first time hearing it was '76 when I was in the 6th grade. My initial reaction was that the instruments and Plant's voice didn't seem in harmony but the more you listen to it, the more it makes sense...like your ears aren't really programmed to hear it correctly but after you get acclimated to it, it sounds awesome. I love this song and will listen to it every chance I get. I think you'll like it better once you're heard it a few more times.

Creativity indeed. This one freaked me out too when I first heard it -- when it came out. The melody is just .....different. But great, and unique.

I was fortunate to see Zeppelin 3 times and they didn't need to jump around on stage to be entertaining watching Page play and hearing Plant sing , Bonham playing the drums and last but not least Jones on the Bass and Keyboard was nothing short of awesome.

I unfortunately didn’t see them in concert, but I agree, they certainly didn’t need any gimmicks like that. If you want to call it a gimmick, theirs was surprising fans with different genres of music, & being great at all of them. When all of you have great talent, you don’t need to jump all over etc.

OH MY HEART. You are actually doing the one that I asked for. (Even if it wasn't personally for ME LOL) Thank you Thank you. Thank you. Reactors rarely do this one. I/m typing this before listening, because I'm So excited. I WILL comment after too.
I'm not a "dancey guy" at all. (IN fact I have to be pretty drunk to dance LOL), but to ME this is Led Zep's danciest song.
Maybe I'm crazy. Perhaps it's not as good as I think it is, and that's why reactors don't do it? I don't know. It's MY PERSONAL favorite Zep song.. I'm sorry that you didnt' like it

Robert Plant was a Lord of the Rings fan. The title of this song was from a mountain range in LOTR! He also had a dog named Strider. The Battle of Evermore speaks of Ringwraiths etc…

Plant can do anything with his voice, on of if not the greatest voices ever. These guys worked hard individually, but when they got together, they took off like a rocket. What’s great too, you never know what you’ll get from them, but it’s always great. There might be a few that won’t be your favorite, but the majority will be.

Starter of rock music is Chuck Barry. He was an African-American man that really started it and many hits. Look him up on the internet to find out the start of it all.

this is one of my favorite storytelling songs by Led Zeppelin man he meets a bunch of like Stone people in the park and he scores some dope off them and then the cops come and the cops say hey man my friends are going to come by and then like he's like you're all so f***** up alien care of the cops are coming

The rhythm is like after you spin yourself around and get dizzy or drunk walking sideways and off kilter if that makes sense.

I was hearing this as a teen, and while it still was highly compelling because it was Led Zeppelin and on this amazingly fantastic album, but I didn't like it that much at first but I didn't dislike it I just wasn't crazy about it.
But then about 2 months later we were sitting around jamming in my band before practice, and we were starting to mess around with this and I found myself finding those third harmonies that go with it between the guitar and the bass and the drummer was trying to figure out how to hold down the beat against all that extended triplet stuff going against it rhythm-wise.
And suddenly it just clicked and I loved it. And I have loved it ever since. Even just now when I listened to your reaction.
I was just going off on the air drums, wishing that someday in my life I could be as good as John Bonham. Of course that day will never come, laugh.

You are ABSOLUTELY RIGHT!!! Almost all the bands from the 60's started with nothing and hardly no money. They played and performed in Coffeehouses, clubs, Pubs, in Public parks, etc. For 2 to 3 years before they discovered by a record company or studio. Being a musician or singer was not supported in in society or families back in the 60's and 70's. Any one wanted to be a musician or singer in a Rock n Roll band were looked down upon. ....The Beatles. The Who. The Rolling Stones.. .made it possible for others. 🎉🎉🎉

It's a head banger for sure - love it! Nobody expects you to like everything any group does - that's normal.

As I tell newer listeners, everything LZ does is amazing, a couple songs might not be their top 20 favorites. There’s nothing they’ll say the actually hate, I have a couple I’m not overly crazy about, but I still like them. I’d say LZ definitely has more songs that I absolutely love, compared to any other bands.

Love your honesty on this one. While I will say that Zeppelin never made a bad song some are definitely better than others. Personally this is my 29th favorite Led Zeppelin song, although that ranking changes daily. 😁

Don't feel bad for saying how you feel about any song. I LOVE Zeppelin, but they have lots of songs that to me are just garbage. Especially their later work. I do happen to like this one though, but you're right about the verse melody.....it is very strange.
