    During the period of Load and ReLoad (and the S&M performance), I would argue that James' vocals were some of the best hard rock vocals ever heard on record in history. His voice went to a new level during this period.

    • @Dominik-v5z
      @Dominik-v5z 7 лет назад +21

      True. On Load and Reaload James vocal was most "complex (?)" and contains lot of harmonics. S&M is probally recorded after some vocal and membrane training - not so sharp but very melodic and no tired after whole show.

      +Dynasty I don't think we could say that for every song. This song yeah (I think his mom died when he was pretty young). James first started playing drums and eventually went to guitar because (his quote) he "wanted to play drums on guitar". He writes music first, lyrics last. Most profound musicians/poets write the other way around.

      Valentin Mitev as a musician I can tell you having lyrics first and writing music to them is far different than having music then writing to it... the end result is the same, you get a song... but the paths taken are both different experiences that can alter the course of the song drastically depending on how it’s written

I know this comment was years ago however I thought I'd mention that in the documentary of recording the black album James says that he had the lyrical ideas for "Enter Sandman" for a while before they used it for the song. @@gabrieledomingosjardim5358 I got to meet him and the rest of the band in 2009. James was really nice, even if he did crack a joke at my expense (which is on video..on RUclips for the concert I was at. Nothing like having your humiliation immortalized for all to see, forever) :P I was so nervous I forgot to take the lamination off the pickguard I was having him sign and went through this whole embarrassing sequence. He was the first to come out to meet everyone so of course, the guy who I had idolized for 24 years at that point had to be the first one out. Kirk was really shy, but still very nice. Rob was super humble and again, extremely nice. Lars actually made you feel like he was genuinely listening to you and cared about what you were saying. Whether it’s an act or not, I don’t know, but he came off as very genuine and extremely nice.
      It was the highlight of my concert going life, because besides getting to meet them, we had amazing seats and I brought my father with me who had never been to a concert in his life. Not just a Metallica concert, but no concerts, ever. He enjoyed it, said the energy in the place was insane and the energy between the band and the fans was palpable and electric. He passed in 2017, so that night is one I really cherish for more than just having met the band. I wish I could have met Jason, which is no offense to Rob, because of course I also wish I could have met Cliff.

      @@gabrieledomingosjardim5358 My best chances were with the Metallica Club believe it or not. I don’t know if they still do it, but for every concert they had a drawing for the meet and greet for fan club members only. I entered for 12 years of concerts before I finally won. It’s also why I had such amazing seats, as club members got presale access before anyone else. This came almost exactly a year after an accident that left me permanently disabled. Somehow karma took pity on me and got my name drawn for the meet and greet.
      It’s definitely one of the best moments of my life, behind things like getting married and the birth of my child, of course. I wish I could do it over and not be so nervous. I had so many things I wanted to say but they just went out the window thanks to nerves. I know they’re just people, just musicians the same as I am, but more talented, but the decades of looking up to Hetfield as a rhythm guitarist just made my nerves shot, and him being the first one I met. I know I would have been much better off meeting Rob or Lars first, since guitar was my thing and while I like them, they weren’t my inspiration for decades.

If Hetfield closing his 60 years old had some problems climbing in high octave, then he could be helped with a guest start vocalist, possibly a symphonic metal singer (Such as Simone Simons that plays in Epica and opened their show during the European tour of the 72 Season tour)

    This might sound controversial but I think LOAD is actually darker in tone than the previous Black album. LOAD deals with PTSD, depression, emotional suppression, loss of loved ones, isolation, greed, addiction, & personal demons. To me it's a bit heavier than a Sandman, werewolves, national pride, duality, & child abandonment. Yet, I still like the Black album but thematically I think LOAD is darker. I love how versatile Metallica is as a band & across their discography. Almost no album sounds the same as their predecessor or successor.

    METALLICA - MAMA SAID (1996)
🤘🏿ULTRAMEGAROLOTA🤘🏿

    It was a strange period for me, having just graduated high school had no idea what l wanted to do or if l was goingbto University. This album reflected the anger, aggression and bitterness of it all. I think the latter part of the 90s was very ambivalent, musicwise, in politics, and society in general.
