I'm italian, born in Rome. When I was a kid this filipino woman called Vicky worked at my house and basically did everything: cooked, cleaned, babysat, she had a room of her own in our house. She had an husband and a son back in the Philippines, and I remember her crying because her son was ill and they couldn't afford the cures, so my father sent the money over. My father also helped her husband and son immigrate from there, and it actually took a lot of effort for them both to come over. A lot of things happened and Vicky stopped working for us, but I will forever remember her. Kind, honest and hard-working, as most filipinos are.

When I went to Spain 3 years ago the people who took care of the rooms at the hotel were mostly Filipinos, I asked one of the ladies what a Filipino was doing in Spain she said there were many Filipinos working in Spain, now that I see this video, perhaps, there are many more Filipinos all over Europe. Unfortunately all this migration of Filipinos abroad is a telling story of the difficult condition Filipinos have in their own country that's thrusting so many to look elsewhere for their survival and that of their families. Filipinos deserve better and I sincerely hope they can turn things around in their land so they stay where they love to be, in their own country with their own families.

Our country just had a high standard when it comes to job hiring... Just think of this... Some botiques or shops need a 4 yrs college graduate just for the position of a cashier... That's why it's so hard to look for a job... And most of us get out of the country to look for more opportunities... Good thing italy loves filipinos! God bless italy and philippines!

But it is very comforting that you treat the Filipino foreigner kindly while she's away from home and family to put food on her family's table and a more decent life back home. While we Filipinos would not want to leave home and stay or work in a foreign land, the circumstances at times call for it. May your tribe increase. God bless.
