- Digging out and lowering the Basement floor is the ultimate way to add living space to row homes. Also older homes with low ceilings. How many Home Owners Wonder if it can be done and how much it would cost? This job is $30K. Any kind of addition to the back of a home or a floor on top would;d cost you at least double. So yes it can be done but Hydroarmor is the only "Real" Company that does and can do it right. We work in NJ and PA. I can also do Facetime, skype etc. estimates throughout the U.S. and also G C the Jobs. - Daniel J OConnor
This dude is knowledgeable and hilarious. He should have his own show.
I agree I think I'd hit it off with him companies do things so half assed
I haven't uploaded a new video for quite some time. Was preoccupied with my "Hacker" thing, I've many job videos never edited. Starting with this and more to come.
Thanks for your support - Daniel J OConnor
I have an idea maybe it already exists .I watch your videos a lot and have things going on that led me to you . But my idea is a new pressure relief system, that provides added structure as well as insulation and waterproof
Is it a limit on how far down you can dig?
@@1topgorgon yes.
Great channel. I've watched so many of them and they have been so beneficial to my work. Thank you for sharing your efforts.
Your work? A contractor? I created my Company to make a difference in someones life each and every day by knowing what to do, saying what to do, and doing what I say. When I started there was not a youtube. I could only help the people I did jobs for. But now my videos are seen everywhere and I'm making a difference in peoples life throughout the U'S. And when A contractor see's my videos and believes in me and does things based on my videos, I make a difference in all of their customers as well. You have no idea how I feel about this. Emotional maybe? I'd never admit that.

goodness, thank you for being so real! that was awesome
Don’t change a thing about how you do your videos! You’re an original! Love the comment about the tape measure “Where did you get this? From your sister?” 🤣 you should take some kids fresh out of high school to toughen them up!
Bravo!💯👍🍻Respect!
thats a lot o work !!!
very informative video.
Daniel O Conner you have my full support
I wish you were in Chicago. Amazing work.
Thought you were done posting videos then you post this insane job well done. Love the haters who try to scientifically explain how to make a 100 year old basement lower. Because everything is exact.
I was preoccupied with fighting off a Hacker. Fuck em. I'm back and plenty of videos unedited. Plenty of off the wall jobs. People will always have questions about "How to" and "How much." - Daniel J OConnor
Sorry he's gone,..learned a lot form his vids...RIP
how do you know what happend ?
@@MaDGriZz78 His friend told everyone shortly after he passed.

@Daniel O’Connor
Engineering and Permits are Required in all Municipalities
Always enjoy your videos. But, you never showed the install of the pressure relief on this one 😔
Benny McKeon I think this job was big the pressure relief was an after though. A trench around the foundation, pipe, stone, cement and pump.
It's because I don't work on jobs anymore. This job was done 2 weeks ago. There was an issue with floor so I did work on this job to straighten it out. To get every process on a video I'd have to go everyday. I've been working Construction over 40 yrs. 62 yrs old now. I've plenty of unedited jobs n will be working on them now. There are going to be those super challenging jobs that I have to work on and will do videos on them. Thanks for watching. - Daniel J OConnor
@@DanielJOConnor Still like your videos 👍
Take Hydrodog for a plane flight 😉
No I haven't. I've always felt I should keep my secrets until we went out on estimates. My thinking was, who would call me for estimates? But now, since RUclips is changing aI believe I can make one. I'm thinking it will be fun for me. So it will be coming soon. Thanks. - Daniel J OConnor
man I wish you could do my home but I live in Brockton, MA
Just figured I’d drop a testimony:
I paid for a phone consultation with my man Dan...
Worth its weight in golden bricks 🧱 to not have that sort of mess to fix.
What did you pay? How long was the consultation?
Thanks for the video!
Came back to this video after hearing he died suddenly last summer. So sad.
Hope you're still in business. I have a few "bleeding" walls and some other concerns I would like you to have look at sometime before we finish our basement.
Call him. His number is posted Don’t be bashful! 👊👍💯
The city grew up around my 100 year old house so I’m stuck with a barn as a garage. It only has 6ft clearance at the door and can’t go up higher because of floor joists. I want to park my truck inside but I need to dig it out
Danny, you goof! You're doin' it all wrong. In Philly we use CARBON FIBER to lower the basement floor. Scientist's studies have shown that carbon fiber is more effective than digging out the floor, supporting the wall, and laying new concrete floor down. All you do is epoxy the strips to the floor, paint over with some elastomeric paint from home depot, and youre done- 8 ft. Ceilings AND completely waterproof (water can't penetrate the carbon fiber). Compared to your 30k job, I can get the strips online for $100, do the job in 8hrs, and charge the homeowner 10k. Do it right next time!
What??
Yes, that's hysterical. - Daniel J OConnor
Roberto Wilson Now that will get him all riled up! 😂🤣
He is joking
How would you get the 8ft if u don't dig?
What if the material the epoxy is adhered to deteriorates? It seems to me having support underneath is the most professional way to fix a basement.
Hydro dude. Bump it up to $40k. That looks like hard work
Damn you're a master! wish I could've work with and learn from someone like you. Would it be pretty much the same process to lower a ~15X15 room instead of a complete basement?
8:10 LOL. hey thanks for the vid, youre a master
Who would want to do a nightmare job like this. I've done a lot less and charged a lot more. Love the videos I hope you keep posting more videos
If I have poured concrete for my walls and am getting lateral pressure and am installing drain, do I need to drill pressure relief holes just like you would with a block foundation?
Yes, yes, yes. but every 1 - 2 ft and into the keyway. The keyway is where the wall meets the footer. The hole is a void, air. Moisture will be drawn to it. I myself have drilled out hole and water has come pouring in.
How do you frame that now? That’s a huge step along all the walls
30K seems pretty reasonable for a job like that. I’d charge more. If people got money to fix something that isn’t broken then why not. Better off moving out to the suburbs and building a new house if you want a basement with more headroom.
You are absolutely right. This is a flipper. Who knows what, why. Thanks for watching - Daniel J OConnor
I've been trying to get a hold of this company several times and they never get back to me No idea why. Wish they would get back to me!
Hey Steve, I need to know what number you are calling and what you hear when u call. There is a person, Jeff Adams who has a Marketing Co. which provides and sells leads to Companies. A lead is, if you where to call us for an estimate. That is a lead. Your call, appointment and estimate "leads" to a sale. Jeff Adams hacks into my web site and phone, takes my leads and sells to other Companies. I need to know how. What number did u call and what happened.
888 808 9523 888 808 0321 those r our numbers. If you called another let me know. Thanks - Dan
@@DanielJOConnor thanks so much for replying! We have been calling the 808 9523 number and a lady would pick up. My wife talked to her several times and were scheduled for a virtual meeting but she never sent the PayPal invoice to pay. That happened twice. My wife called multiple times after that and I personally called myself and we left messages with no replies. I litterally just called now with no answer.
Damn that’s a mess of bricks there.
Hysterical isn't it? It was a 1.5 million house on Jersey Shore. The front ofg house will have to be gutted to lighten the load, raised and then start over. It's a $250.000.00 job. Take us all Summer and I'd have to be there most of the time. Screw that. - Daniel J OConnor
Do you come to Queens, NY???
Waiting for ya to come and do my house in Saginaw 😀
Great video..Terrible Man Bun
I know there's a reason & with you a good one. What are the consequences to put the drainage system & sump pump in with the new floor?
There is none. It’s under the slab
Damn didn't even know this was possible
just a quick question; how serious can be long horizontal crack in 2ft high bench footing?
Well not my place, but first pin in and then open the crack , inject epoxy into the opening, your house will crack before it does again
How much does it cost?
WOW!!!
What if your basement has four rooms and isnt one big room?
Doesn't matter how many rooms. All the same except for the cost.
- Daniel J OConnor
This is hilarious
Is it a limit on how far you dig down?
Never seen anyone mix concrete on the floor
@3:48 involved in a drive by cussin'
Is it possible to use this same technique to go down 8 feet to turn a 4 foot crawlspace into a 10' ceiling basement?
Do you still do consultations? Do you have a personal email I can reach you at so I can explain my situation?
Yes I do. Please call my office 888 808 0321 and Janine can set it up. I do visual estimates. I will see and know what is causing the issue, how to fix it and how much it willl cost. Face time, Skype etc. Please realize there must be a fee. $350.00. Do know many people have saved thousands after and have hired the right Company to do the right job. Thank you for your interest. Daniel J OConnor
@@DanielJOConnor I have tried to reach you. I talked to Janine but I haven't heard back from you guys. I called twice and all she told me was she would leave a message with you.
Will you be my Uncle?
I watch all your videos. I am a contractor that does the same exact work as your company and have underpinned and waterproofed at least 50 homes in south philly area. This is the first video I saw where the work was incorrect. Those underpins are out way too far and will take way too much room out of the potential finished space of the basement. The proper way is to leave the concrete 3 inches below the bottom of the foundation then do a 3" drypack then you can get those sections even with existing stone foundation and your waterproofing fabric(mel drain, etc) should come up to grade to make it bulletproof. Besides that live all your videos just leave the city to me I can tell you were out of your element. I work those "narrow streets" everyday.
Don't lkow if you're saying 3 inches. Typo maybe. Underpins r actually knee walls had to go 3 Foot Down. Need some space on top to be able to pour that much concrete and then tamp down and under. Some walls have od ball issues which call for variations. Common now, you know things change. But anyway, I don't want these jobs so if you'd like I can send them to you if I get anymore requests. If you want , call my office 888 808 9523 or 888 808 0321 give Janine your number so we can be in contact. And thanks for your comment. I do enjoy hearing from other Contractors and even I learn a thing or two.
