  • The correlation coefficient is a really popular way of summarizing a scatter plot into a single number between -1 and 1. In this video, I'm giving an intuition how the correlation coefficient does this, without going into formulas. If you need to calculate the correlation coefficient for some data, you can find the formula here: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pearson...

I read so many complicated descriptions and was starting to feel like a total dunce who just couldn't get it. This was such a clear, quick explanation.

Thank you man. This video has really helped me in understanding coefficient correlation basics in fundamentals of meteorology. There's a lot of coefficient correlation calculations in meteorology and one of them is anomaly coefficient correlation. It is used in producing long range forecasts or climatological forecasts. It would be really helpful if you could also make a short and comprehensive video for anomaly coefficient correlation as an example for coefficient correlation! Thanks

Story time: I have a slightly compromised active memory and that means I have trouble migrating concepts from my active memory to my short term memory. Normally this presents very little problem for me. But numbers for whatever reason are the worst.
The way you broken this down into manageable parts and clearly and visually explained everything made my life so much easier. I wish all my math professors broke stuff down like you did!
