Not only did you take great photos when the weather is not ideal, your videography deserves an award! So much thoughts were put into them they are like mini movies! Love it! 🥰 Can't wait for you to go back for more photos and smoke meat sandwich!
Love this! That intro was giving me serious Wes Andersen vibes!!! Makes me wanna travel again!! I agree film can be such fun on holidays. The digi shots at a new place often doesn’t look as good as you think it’ll be. Also loved the cute ending!!!
That was excellent. Great to see you are able to travel and switch things up on your channel. Thanks for everything you and your wife do to challenge me to get out of my comfort zone.
Heading to Montreal on Tuesday and have to say, "Thank you!" for this gift. So well done. Can't wait for the smoked meat sandwich. You can keep the bagel.. Thanks!!!
Oooh that shot at 10:50 is 10/10! I love this video and with every video watched I like your storytelling more and more. So happy to find your channel :)
Found your channel not too long ago, very inspiring work, from the videography to the photos. An upload from your channel is always exciting. Take care.
Awesome video as always. I literally saved it for a moment where I’d have time to take in your framing, audio choices, etc. Great to see you including your wife as well! Particularly loved the shot of just the hand in light
Beautifully done video, the storytelling, music, pace and edit Ivan! Nice to get away from home even though for a shorter trip to break away from the daily routine at home and get some new well deserved inspiration.
Always enjoy watching your videos. It's always like being taken into a short film with vibes of the past. Can take a lot out of it for myself. Keep it going
I always make sure I'm completely free'd up from the busy baby life to watch your videos man, and that might just be the best compliment I've ever written on RUclips. Consistently stoked on the vibes. Quality over quantity every day of the week.
Thanks for taking us along with you, some really sweet shots captured and your wife is a great b-roller for sure! The architecture in Montreal is really similar to certain parts of the Sydney CBD it's uncanny. That European influence🤣
Another great video! I also feel that sense of freedom when shooting film until I start thinking about the cost per frame and wondering if I'm frivolously wasting frames, such as I pondered recently on an IG post of mine.
Those oddly shaped condo's at the 5:30 mark were constructed for Expo 67. The purpose was to show you could have dense living yet each condo have a decent view and good separation from others. I lived on the South Shore, across the bridge on the "other" side of downtown Montreal while Expo 67 was built and I had the good fortune to have the time to visit exposition almost daily. Here's a blurb from the condo's web site: "Located in Cité-du-Havre, a century-old artificial peninsula widened for Expo 67, Habitat 67 benefits from an incomparable geographical location: in front of the river, the city center and the Old Port of Montreal. Its terraces offer an unparalleled panorama: the lights of the city, the silhouette of the bridges, the beauty of the maples, oaks and poplars. Add to this idyllic atmosphere the soft sound of the waves of the river, the sea air and the sky as far as the eye can see. Located near Île Sainte-Hélène, Old Montreal and the Casino de Montreal, this hybrid of peaceful life and hectic life redefines the urban residence experience with panache."
Oh man oh man.. lovely journey. But you also made me struggle more with the questions of film vs digital for travel. Having that physical negative in the end just has this real feel to it. Like proof you went there. Not just some files on a hard drive. (the film gets scanned anyways but shut up! 😅) I also liked a lot of your shots but especially with the dog outside the cafe. That has so much emotional pull.
Thanks man, my personal favorite as well. I find that special moments like that always come up when you’re about to call it a day. Like a reward for being stubborn.
The photo walk around Old Montreal and other neighborhoods, is one that I’ve taken many times over the years. It’s home, and I never run out of things to Photograph. Sometimes film, sometimes digital. Did you stop by the Leica Boutique Camtec on Notre Dame St. ? Nice video, thanks.
That was great!! You dress well too hehe. About the bagels, if they are fresh out of the oven they are 10 times better. I don't know if that's the way you got them but if you have to re-heat them they lose their magic.
If you liked Montreal for it's architecture and ambiance, you'll love Quebec city. I have lived in both, Quebec city definitely has more of a European feel to it than Montreal. I love them both.
Tip of the cap to your wife for all the shots of you moving through the video. 👍 Thanks for another video with good storytelling elements and well crafted compositions, my favorite being the hotel sequence. While I enjoyed the film parts, I thought the GR was the real champ bailing you out on a rainy day. Would love to see you back in Montreal in late summer/fall.
This was just a lovely walk around Montreal, haven't been in a some years now since I did a project at the Eaton Centre Shopping Center. Pictures were great and moody, happy to see that 5 guys burgers and fries got closed down, it was an abomination! 😝
I try to keep the auto shutter speed down by using a lower ISO. Then a lot of color correction and grading in post. Not a fan of GoPro footage but it’s convenient 🤷🏻♂️
Its funny that Montreal is a “city of art” But have huge restrictions on street photography lol Bruh Le what ? (Edit) also funny you put my city at the end of the video lol
I just watched a video about how this photographer dude switched to an all Leica camera lineup… sold everything for it. Then I watch this video, the following video, and there’s this same photographer dude whipping a GR3 out of his back pocket as he strolls around Montreal… I think I missed something.
Not only did you take great photos when the weather is not ideal, your videography deserves an award! So much thoughts were put into them they are like mini movies! Love it! 🥰 Can't wait for you to go back for more photos and smoke meat sandwich!
Im so happy that finding focus transition i love it everytime i see it i get excited
Oh. And LOVED the b&w film at the end. Wonderful.
Quelle belle créativité! Superbe et inspirant! Bravo!!! Another great creation!
Lovely, compelling as always, and those final minutes, sheer delight.
Thanks Jan!
Another amazing film Ivan! Very nostalgic to me as I went a lot to MTL as a kid. 👏
Spectacular photos! You’re a fantastic artist, come back when it’s warmer and discover a whole new canvas to shoot on!
Thanks!
Love this! That intro was giving me serious Wes Andersen vibes!!! Makes me wanna travel again!! I agree film can be such fun on holidays. The digi shots at a new place often doesn’t look as good as you think it’ll be. Also loved the cute ending!!!
Thanks man! Glad you enjoyed it

Poutine and a sponsorship from Henry's?! It's been a long time since I was homesick, Ivan. You're making me miss Canada again.

I didn’t get a chance to, but I’ll be sure to add it to the list of things to check out next time

Thanks man! I had the bagels fresh when I was there, same opinion sorry haha. Love the food in Montreal though 🤌🏻
Love Montréal! Your next trip…. Ottawa!
Great video! You’re a great filmmaker besides photographer bro
Thank you!
If you liked Montreal for it's architecture and ambiance, you'll love Quebec city. I have lived in both, Quebec city definitely has more of a European feel to it than Montreal. I love them both.
Wanted to but I didn’t have time, will be back for sure!
Love the: je suis un photographe de rue, je viens en paix.
Amazing video bro, u improving a lot, keep it up📸👌

@@ivunchow definitely need a video on that process.
Next time you travel w the wife. Add some food shots in the video. 🤣🤣🤣
