I am truly grateful to the incredibly generous lady who served me Teh Madu and Teh Hijau.

    » SELF-INTRODUCTION
We were just an ordinary Japanese married couple, both working, until my wife suddenly chose to move overseas.
After thinking deeply, I reached a conclusion to leave the company I worked for 12 years, and started my new life as a stay-at-home dad in 2021.
At first, I had rough time with stress and felt conflicted, but now I enjoy my life in Malaysia, taking the household chores over from my wife.
As I changed my lifestyle I changed my hairstyle to Samurai(Man Bun).
I named this channel "Samurai -----" as some people call me "samurai!" since I came to Malaysia.
In this channel, I will be introducing:
    1. My daily life and things I noticed as stay-home-dad
    2. My Malaysian life
    3. Changes we experience upon moving overseas
    Hope you enjoy!

Nasi kerabu is supposed to be eaten mixed with everything but you don't mix with the sauce if its spicy for you. So you did the right thing by asking the staff.
Its nice to see that you are more confident in mixing with the locals. And what do you get? The boss belanja you 2 drinks, wow! All you need to do is learn more Bahasa Melayu. You can learn from youtube or use translation apps.

Kerabu roughly translated to "mixed salad" so it should be mixed all to get the real authentic texture of Nasi Kerabu.
The blue colour comes from the Bunga Telang (Asian pigeonwings flower) essence, added to rice during cooking process.
Also, a lot of Malay words, you cannot omit the vowel at the end like Japanese words ie: Kerabu to Kerab, because it will mean something else.

I love Warung Ambo so much! As a resident of Shah Alam, this is the place to get my Nasi Kerabu cravings fixed! Those sellers are actual Kelantanese so it is guaranteed to get a genuine taste of Nasi Kerabu as how it should taste like in Kelantan. I would always get their Teh Madu every time as well. So glad you get to taste Nasi Kerabu from this specific restaurant. Hope you had a good time there.

My favourite combination when eating nasi Kerabu is = the basic set (extra vege, extra sambal) + Ayam bakar (charcoal grilled chicken) + bawang putih jeruk (pickled garlic) + solok lada (stuffed chilli pepper) + Telur masin (salted egg) 🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤 yummy! You should try it next time.
P/s: maybe first thing first introduce yourself as orang Jepun so that they know your malay is not as fluent, and will help you with your order, give suggestions etc.. because by appearance you look like a Chinese + Malay Malaysian so that's why they thought you know what is served there 😁

This Warung looks authentically Malaysian with the lady boss Cashier speaking English.
Her free 2 drinks were definitely to thank-you for giving free advertisement & publicity for her Warung's business. And, you can eat the food you paid for in whatever way you like.
If the rice is coloured very bright blue, DO NOT buy. It indicates lots of artificial colourings used in food preparations. The blue in this shop's Nasi Kerabu is OK. Natural Blue colour from the juice of the Blue pea flower is dull looking after cooking.
This eatery is obviously way better than the previous one you visited, in terms of food, ambiance & customer service.

Looks appetizing, yes you did well by asking how the food should be taken. Nasi kerabu should be eaten by mixing all the ingredient together. Perhaps next time you should try to eat nasi kerabu with daging bakar (grilled meat) or ayam percik (grilled chicken with special sauce made with coconut milk)
